I guess you are proud seeing your relatives doing such a great job feeding millions of people out there. Nice family with healthy looking cows. Thumbs up the Lanphears and keep it up please.
i like their idea buying heifer for their replacement cow- i just wanted to know where do they sell their calfs? please let me know I think that's a very strategy I agree with its very costly to grow heifer
Just watch a Chinese , Vietnam, and California dairy farm, live in a dairy farm town in Maine, you need to change. Sorry but 500 cows is to small, you need at least to be like farms in Illinois or Wisconsin, but California has thousands, China I just watch 40,000 cows . Its a business and unfortunately you need to be bigger, I have a cousin who has a dairy farm in Vermont, as I told her and my neighbor in Maine , you have got to get big. Look at car dealers or the crap john deere eguipment dealers. To stay in business you need to bigger
I wouldn't be at all surprised if maybe the wide world needs a lot of stuff that the Lanphears do not know but gee whiz from the video I had the impression that they are probably one of the most successful farms around.
Richard Sangster you arent a farmer are you? 🤣 I milk 156 cows right now . i have rented all the ground I can within tractor distance and reasonable to truck manure. we have an 80 cow freestall, and a 30 cow freestall I made out of a heifer barn. I farm 494 acres total. I have 2 employees and my sons. you try it. seriously man . you try it and "get big" maybe youll see and shut the hell up. maybe another thousand acres will magically appear and be granted to just me to farm. .
Richard Sangster 500 cows is a pretty nice size family farm . much bigger they go cooperate or under contract. and by the way maine doesnt have much for Dairy farms small ones . thats it. limited cows and 65 day corn. gorgeous state but not a big milk producer. god your comment pissed me off
My mother was a Lanphear related to this family way back. Madalyn Thomasina Lanphear 1912 - 1998. She would have been proud to see this video!

Two rules for successful farming: stay out of debt, take care of the equipment.
Great family! ! !
Nice work
What's the profitability? Or return on equity? This it what counts

Take the technology of 2016 and add the work ethic of 1916 and come up with VT farm of the year. They don't teach that in school. Should. But don't
You got a winning strategy there
Rise and shine.
I say there is nothing wrong with old school dairying just add a little technology and let it be u don't need automated everything.
Family first and the work ethic. Goes together like timothy and alfalfa.
Very good family
That’s what people from Vermont look like?! Interesting 🤔

Gee, thanks Mr know it all, what a crock.
The most important thing in business is to continue to be profitable and maintain your control of the business.
