From there, Vlad and Tray Deee spoke about people not having their paperwork right at Death Row, but he noted he didn’t see a contract over there at Death Row, but was getting paid nicely from Death Row for features.

The G Funk documentary is a must watch. It focuses primarily on Long Beach and the influence from Compton. These Big U and Tray Deee interviews are the only ones worth watching now.

I’m a White dude from Queens, but out of all of the people I’ve seen Vlad interview, I really enjoy Tray Dee. It is not because he’s an OG, but he is a mellow, relatable dude. There are no theatrics. Just a guy being candid.
My friend went to the up in smoke concert and i was jealous at first but then again i saw dj quick in concert and afterwards i saw his producer amg and chatted him for a few minutes haha he was on his way out but he totally talked with me for a few minutes he was totally chill and nice and polite!

Dre didn't want Warren G on Death Row bcuz he knew what Death Row was gonna be about in the future so he made the right choice by signing with Def Jam #GFunk4Life
Unless we know them personally then no one really knows why he didn't let him sign but your reasoning doesn't seem likely. At that particular time Suge hadn't become the 'Suge' of 93, 94, 95 and 96. He was still thugged but less of a trouble maker at that time.
No one could have known what was gonna happen to DR.
I think the reason was Dre just didn't want his lil brother underneath him - more of a sibling rivalry as opposed to him wanting to protect Warren G from DR.
Either way it was the best decision for Warren G to not get signed with DR.
He probably didn't believe in him and used that as an excuse

I don't reckon that's right, in the book mentioned Have Gun Will travel the reason Warren G didn't sign to Death Row was because Suge fell out with him at a boat party just after Doggy Style was released. Suge apparently beat him up, Warren G says his album on Death Row wasn't going to be released until the late 90's, that's why he signed to Def Jam. He was totally right to do this, Suge pushed loads of artists albums back like Nate Dogg's and Rage's, then in the meantime signed artists like Hammer and Danny Boy that didn't really work well on the label.
