It's quite sad that many people from abroad only know Bali. They think that Indonesia is only about Bali, even though it is not always about Bali, there are still the islands of Sumatra, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Papua and Java.
It’s true, but to be honest I actually think many of them think of Bali as its own country and if you asked many of them whether they have been to Indonesia they would say no 😂
@WhereNextFamily That's why I prefer to just mention the name of the area of origin 😂, because that way they will be more interested in finding out where it is located 😆
I live about 2 hours away from Yogyakarta and we go a lot for weekend breaks. It's a nice place for a short break. Borobodur isn't in Yogyakarta though, it's closer to Magelang.
Correction: They were never colonized by Indians. The Hindus and Buddhists were local Javanese, with two competing dynasties-one Hindu, one Buddhist-that coexisted relatively peacefully, even intermarrying. Also, Indonesia is around 87% Muslim, not 95%. And even then, many people don’t really care much about religious labels; they often choose whichever religion is convenient when asked during the census.
I meant to say Java as opposed to Indonesia on that statistic. Colonised was the wrong term. Indians came to Indonesia for trade and brought Hinduism with them
@@WhereNextFamily Yes, there is a mountainous area with very cold climates where you can enjoy the natural beauty of volcanic mountains, geothermal sources, ancient temples, waterfalls, beautiful lakes, the life of local farmers with expanses of vegetable gardens, also cheap and delicious local food, especially when there is festival events Culture (Dieng Festival) is great for seeing the diversity of local culture and art.
There are many interesting locations there that can be explored, and of course the temperature is cooler in summer like now, please see reviews about Dieng Plateau via video and search on Google, what are the impressions of people who have visited there.

@Dwnlit99 it’s all down to marketing. Bali got a big boom back in the 90’s and now it is known around the world for being a place for surfing, yoga and holidays.
Wow that stack of rubble being readied for reconstruction is pretty amazing. Large-sized Lego indeed.
Yes it was amazing. Hard to really fathom how they manage to build it

You are right! I should have been more precise with the location of Borobodur.

Prambanan Temple is in the city of Yogyakarta, while Borobudur Temple is in the city of Magelang.
Oh interesting. But you would visit both if you stayed in Yogyakarta 🙂
@@WhereNextFamily I live in Semarang city, but I have often visited both temples since I was a child.
As an Indonesian, I really hate the exits that are intentionally made so that visitors have to go around the entire souvenir market. Very annoying.
bagaimana lagi lah....demi menghidupkan perekonomian lokal
Yes I agree. There are better ways to do it, and at least it would be good if the stalls sold different items
Indonesia not only Bali....
Most people never venture further than Bali
