StickySprite Agreed. I've got an s49 and a studio and wondered whether I'd need this. The NI promo vids tell you nothing. This video has just sold it to me. Has all the functions I wished I had in hardware form to make it easier and quicker to construct a tune.

They went in a different direction with the solution. The good news is that it's cheap now -- under $300 used. For one who doesn't have a lot of hardware equivalents, I'd classify that somewhere between a solid deal and a steal.

Great for portability and getting ideas out. I traded my push 2 for the jam due to the push not being bus powered. Great standalone but also great with Maschine. Love the touch strips. Makes getting melodic elements nice down to without a midi keyboard.

@ min 4:00 - when i'm doing that, only the sounds of that group are getting into the step sequencer mode. (and everything in the same color as the group)
in the video one sound of each group (f.e. hihat, kick, shakers) is being put into the step sequencer and also shown in the corresponding group color. i searched for hours now and cant find this function. any hint ??

    • @briankullas_NI

If you hold down the step button, you can select scene buttons 1,4 or 8. Those numbers correspond to how many sounds I can sequence at once. I had step mode 4 active so i can sequence sounds 1-4 at the same time. Hit down on the d-pad to access more sounds

Can you assign beats and snippets to each pad and use it like launchpad or push to mess around and freestyle with?

  • @ExStaticBass
    @ExStaticBass 8 ปีที่แล้ว

Are the pads as sensitive as the Maschine Mk2? If so, does it have the ability to capture aftertouch? These are both things I really like about my Machine Mk2. I can understand if it doesn't as the pads are pretty small comparatively. That wouldn't be a purchase killer but I'd really like to be able to just use one device in my performances.

    • @briankoolis5104
      @briankoolis5104 8 ปีที่แล้ว

ExStatic Bass the pads are click button and not velocity sensitive. You would still need your MKii for that. I do most of my work with Maschine using JAM. I use the MKii if I need velocity pads and chopping up samples. I thought it would still use the MKii more than JAM but it's actually the opposite now

  • @valecito.33

    i have two questions:
first, in note mode, is it possible to have the notes not stacked on the touch strip, but rather all notes (that have been activated above) played simultaneously, with the finger position controlling the notes/chords velocity?
second, is it possible to keep the changes made when the lock button is activated?

    Hello DJ TechTools,
I would like to see someone do the following demos if possible:-
Numark PT-01 with 7" dvs control vinyl * 2 (one left deck A & one right deck B)
    With either:-
Raiden/Jesse Dean/Stokyo Kutter/Frisk Fader (mounted on top of and connected to the)
    Novation Audiohub 2*4 Audio Interface
    Reloop Neon (midi mapped)
Virtual DJ 8 Pro Timecode/Cross DJ/Rekordbox DJ DVS
    Or Swap Audio Interface to:-
Denon DS-1 to use with Serato DVS setup
NI Traktor Scratch A6 for Traktor Scratch DVS and Traktor Pro setup
Or Swap Both Audio Interface and Crossfader to:-
Akai AMX for Serato DVS setup
NI Traktor Kontrol Z1 for Traktor Pro setup
(unless there is a Traktor Scratch DVS work around similar to the way DJ Player Pro works on iOS)
Reloop Mixtour for Virtual DJ 8 Pro Timecode/Cross DJ/Rekordbox DJ DVS
Add On Controllers (to be midi mapped to work with all of these DJ software programs):-
Akai AFX or Reloop Neon for Serato SP6/flip
    NI Traktor Kontrol D2 for Traktor Pro - FX/Flux/Loops/Hot Cues/Remix Decks/Stems
    (to be used with a Raiden/Jesse Dean/Stokyo Kutter/Frisk Fader)
mounted on top of and connected to the Novation Audiohub 2*4 Audio Interface
(and hopefully there is a Traktor Scratch DVS work around similar to the way DJ Player Pro works on iOS)
Novation Circuit or Novation Launchpad Mk2 RGB or Novation Launchpad Pro
    NI Maschine Jam
(A-H buttons could be used to toggle channel on/off & the Jam could have buttons midi mapped as switches to change the parameters of what the 8 touch strips control, eg:- deck volume, fx level, etc)
Reloop Neon (Serato Official Accessory - Midi Mapped to work the same with the other software)
    Software Integration:-
Ableton Live 9 & Ableton Link
    Thoughts???

    • @tessakutesa3257

Thomas Matt The Jam itself doesn't produce sound. It needs to be plugged in. The Jam sends the signals to the DAW and that's where the sound comes from. I'm sure there are some that can allow you to play without connecting it, but you might have to look hard for those.

Maschine Jam looks very nice, I must agree. But isn't the functionality with it's integration with Maschine kind of like having an Akai APC40 with Maschine? This does the same thing an APC40 does for Ableton Live. For all that, I could have attempted to make a Controller template that will do the same thing. Maschine forever, yeah, but I haven't been sold on Jam. Anyone with an APC40 will see the similarity.

What about controlling the pitch of a sample/pad per step with knobs or strips while sequencing?
Like in an oldschool Korg SQ-10
I'm waiting for this feature for ages.

What I see is that Maschine Jam can stand all alone from MK2... I mean, it does all that really matters from Mk2 and left out what you can still do on your computer screen... am I wrong?
