I tried to take on board everybody’s advice for planting. Any advice on looking after them in the future would be greatly appreciated. Have a great week everyone. 🧑🌾👍
@@GanggangPeanut Ha ha, best to keep them away from Stella, or they will start fighting. Like I said in the video, I got the auger for bulb planting, it’s brilliant for that.
Hi Pete, that drill attachment would have been great for me about a week ago with daff's. Some great tips there and I will be using them going forward for sure.
That’s what I got it for last year, then I thought well I could use it for the garlic and it worked really well. I’ve just followed the advice and tips that I have picked up from others, it’s a great community on TH-cam for learning, good luck with your planting.
I'd never heard about using vodka on garlic before! Hope it didn't go to waste afterwards. I do remember a chillii vodka (possibly from Tesco) which was quite nice - I guess garlic vodka would be an acquired taste😂 I have planted shop bought garlic before but planted them like onion sets not deep. They did grow but only produced small bulbs - you live and learn. Good luck.
Garlic vodka is definitely an acquired taste, I did give it a try but it wasn’t pleasant 😂. The shop bought was just for a bit of fun and to see how they compare to the seed garlic, I guess time will tell.
@@Petetrenouth I did wonder about the taste! Maybe mixing it with lime or blackcurrant or orange juice may hide the garlic taste? You could even be the originator of a new cocktail Pisky Mule.
Well the eld vodka truck is a new one on me Pete so thanks to you and the folks who have advised you about it. I'll certainly be giving it a whirl. Did you go for hardneck/soft next or a mixture? I do love all your handy hints on how to make our gardening life easier.. my brain doesn't work like yours so keep them coming please!!
@@Lauralearningtogrow I didn’t know about sterilising bulbs until Jimmy and Duncan told me about it, it’s an easy to do insurance policy and the fruit protection bags makes it easier to handle them. I put in a mixture of hard, soft and elephant, as well as the Tesco bought ones, just to see how they all perform Anything that makes the job simpler always appeals to me and often it’s just a twist on something I’ve seen before. I’m a big believer that simple things get done. Have you got access to part of a polly tunnel on your site yet?
@@Petetrenouth unfortunately no.. we only have two small poly tunnels on our site one of which is getting recovered over winter( as I've become a commitee member to get certain things done) but they rent them out for two years then another plot holder can get one but my name is first on the list for the next available one. I think I may steal your idea about a mixture of the garlic.. I don't tend to eat a lot of it but I should do with having rheumatoid arthritis. My daughters cook with it more than me and sometimes it can be abit overpowering but I'll give it a whirl this year. You have inspired me to grow it!! Thank you 😀
@@Lauralearningtogrow Definitely give them all a go, then you can see which one you prefer, I believe the elephant garlic is the mildest. Growing something for the first time is always exciting, learning new techniques and gaining experience, all part of the fun. Hope yours grow great for you.
Nice video Pete mate, definitely pays to sterilise your bought in garlic, some people use rubbing alcohol, some people only soak the cloves in a liquid fertiliser and omit the alcohol, personally i like to use the vodka, if you are due rain i would forget about the garlic for a while.👍

😂😂 you had me at vodka. It does it get the vampires drunk 🧛. Great and always humorous update Pete, Ali ☔️☔️☔️🇨🇦
A must grow crop if Christopher lee is your neighbour. 🧛♂️😂👍
Those elephant cloves are huge. I can't wait to see the size they grow next year, Pete.
I'd not heard about sterilising the cloves. Great video 😊
@Jacqui-Pen They are indeed massive Jacqui, I hope they perform well, then next year I’ll have some cloves to give away.
