- In this installation video, we show you how quickly and easily you can set up and install our insect screen.
Required tools: rolling metre, pencil, hacksaw, file, screwdriver, cutting board, rubber mallet.
Step by step to the perfect insect screen:
00:15 Measure the clear width dimension B by measuring the horizontal inside distance of the open window.
00:22 Measure the height H by measuring the vertical inside distance of the open window to the window sill.
00:28 Find the frame thickness X (outermost part of the window frame) of your window using a tape measure.
00:32 Calculate the appropriate shortening dimension.
00:37 Add 35 mm to the measured dimension B.
00:46 Subtract 2 mm from the measured dimension H.
01:00 Subtract 37 mm from the measured dimension B.
01:16 Add 3 mm to the frame thickness X.
01:35 Remove the screw and pull the end cap and the shaft bearing from the cassette. Slide the handle rails flush with the cassette.
01:52 Mark the calculated dimension for B on the blind cassette.
01:58 Mark the calculated dimension H on the two guide rails.
02:08 Mark the lower cross profile with the dimension B minus 37 mm.
02:19 Shorten the roller blind cassette including the handle rail at the marked position with a hacksaw and deburr the cut edges with a file.
02:24 Shorten the two guide rails at the marked point with a metal saw and deburr the cut edges with a file.
02:28 Shorten the lower cross profile at the marked point with a hacksaw and deburr the cut edges with a file.
02:31 Remove the spacer on the cassette.
02:35 Press the roll-up tube together with the fabric into the cassette.
02:39 Align the handle bar centrally with the fabric.
02:50 Push the brake unit through the shaft bearing and the spacer into the end cap.
03:04 Screw the brake unit through the recess in the end cap using the screw.
03:13 Insert the connected unit into the fabric roll of the roller blind cassette, starting with the brake unit and shaft bearing, then the end cap.
03:20 Screw the end cap in place using the screw.
03:36 Insert the handle cord and the handle hooks sideways into the handle rail.
04:10 Connect the guide rails to the roller blind cassette.
04:23 Place the blind face down and attach the locking hooks. Loosely screw the screws through the recess in the locking hooks into the clamping plates. Insert the connected units into the guide rails at the bottom.
04:50 Bend the four fixing springs to the determined dimension X using the bending device. To do this, place the fixing springs in the bending device as shown and bend them at a 90° angle.
05:12 Screw the screws through the fixing springs into the clamping plates.
05:45 Insert the connected units into the groove of the guide rails that is open at the top. The upper fastening spring points upwards, the lower one downwards. Fix the fixing springs in the centre for the time being by loosely screwing in the screws.
05:55 Connect the bottom corner connectors to the bottom cross profile and the guide rails. Use a rubber mallet if necessary.
06:16 Push the lower fastening springs of the roller blind standing on the window sill down on both sides until the fastening springs fully engage behind the lower frame. Screw in the screws completely and tighten them firmly.
06:35 Push the upper fastening springs of the blind on the window sill upwards on both sides until the fastening springs fully engage behind the upper frame. Screw in the screws completely and tighten them firmly.
06:39 Use the screws to adjust the locking hooks to the desired height so that the handle rail can be gripped easily and is flush with the sealing brush on the window frame.
