*why don't they ever discuss the tension between Dominicans and Haitians. I've been close to my Haitian brothers even though am Brazilian they be hella fun to kick it with. But some times my Dominican friends be talking shit about them but I don't get it, if their just joking or if their being serious. But from how they refer to my our Haitian frens as dirty asses it confuses Me. Maybe because I'm Brazilian so I dont understand the way you all interact with each other.*
Tbh, Dominicans (most of them)don’t like Haitians people and vice versa. I don’t really know why, but that’s how it is.
Dominiko Santos seems like a trend throughout history in general whenever there’s two groups of people in a nearby area they garner a rivalry. Dominicans and Haitians have a long history of strife, discrimination, genocide etc. it’s important to remember but it’s more important to grow and not resentments divide us. We would be stronger as allies.

Jay_M Tbh it’s like saying ‘I’m North America’ . Actually there are Islands in West Indies who speak French and dialects of French. The thing is, Spanish speaking islands seem to not consider themselves West Indians even though they are clearly in the West Indies.

There is history from the Indigenous people, the Amerindians but due to Genocide the blood connection to the people who inhabit the land now is not strong as the blood connection Africans, Europeans and in some cases Indians. Although the culture of Amerindians played an important role in the development of West Indian culture.

I'm Colombian and Caribbean, you wanna know why that? Because I'm from northern Colombia, a region surrounded by the Caribbean sea. Our culture in northern Colombia is more similar to our Caribbean brothers and sisters from the Spanish Caribbean islands, even the accent is quite similar.
