  • Bought this cast iron jet burner off ebay. Was going to use to use it for a wok burner, but it would work well as a oil or water burner too. Would be useful for cooking large amounts of food or beer brewers. Runs off propane with a high pressure regulator.

    Great video. If you dont like the yellow flame at max pressure reduce the jet orifice. I found 0.8mm to be max hole on 5 psi propsne. These block up with grease and the cheap brass corrodes. After 3 days in a bussy chinese restaurant the blockage results in perfect jet burn mix. The technical output power is 20kW or about 10 electric heaters on full power.

    can you change the natural gas duck tips to propane ones or, drill two more holes per nozzle to increase air intake for the existing ones?

  • @dungeondark
    @dungeondark 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think that the jets could be modified by drilling holes in the adjacent sides to clear up the flame. There are only 2 air vents and 4 sides. Also suspect that they might be jetted for natural gas hence the restricted air intake.

    I'm looking for a replacement burner for our restaurant wok area. How difficult is it to replace these? Can you provide any instructions, .pdf etc. Do you suggest a certified technician replace them or is it easy enough for the novice? Thanks.

    Would you happen to know how to convert natural gas to propane to that same type of burner?

  • @minavamp2811

    duck tips are designed for natural gas. once you connect to natural gas, the flame is completely blue. it's my favorite jet burner. it doesn't clog up with heavy usage.

      Would the residential natural gas at home work also? I got a 95,000btu duck tip burner (natural gas) and I still couldn’t find anyone to install it.

      @@sharollcalderon1474 it does. as long as your gas line is 3/4" in diameter, because 1/2" will not deliver enough btu

    If i wanted to use Natural gas to power your single jet burner design, would I simply have to increase the orifice size? Thanks, Mike

    Curious if you integrated this burner into your wok station? The stainless steel wok station build seems to have been posted a year after this video and you stayed with the previous burner design. Really close to pulling the trigger on building the previous burner design. Did you get the performance from this burner that you were expecting? Great Videos!!!

    Duck burner has semi anti-clogging property. Regular jet burners get clogged up fast. I would go for chimney burners instead.

      I am considering buying that same chimney burner from ebay. Is it designed to set the wok directly on the top edge of the chimney cap, or does it need a separate enclosure or ring?

    If you guys want to run natural gas the jets should be drilled out to 1mm. If you want to make holes smaller use hard silver solder like 15% silver to delete the large hole and redrill

    • @AndrewWorkshop
      @AndrewWorkshop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, maybe not enough air or the fuel to air mixture is incorrect?

    • @markhorstmeier8734
      @markhorstmeier8734 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are seeing soot, it is definitely your mix. I think those nozzles are for natural gas (I found site that lists it as dual use, but there is no option for propane). Propane needs much more oxygen than what those inlets can provide. Here is a jet burner nozzle for propane. itempics-tigerchef.netdna-ssl.com/Thunder-Group--IRBN001L-Jet-Burner-Nozzle-Propane-Gas-59772_xlarge.jpg
      Maybe you could get an inline air mixer that could offset the nozzle limitations. Looks like propane needs 3x the air of natural gas

    • @AndrewWorkshop
      @AndrewWorkshop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I figured that was the issue, too bad as the place I bought it on ebay said it was propane. I knew there was a difference between propane and NG. Oh well let the buyer beware. Thanks for the comment.

    • @markhorstmeier8734
      @markhorstmeier8734 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      To be fair, I think it's labelled for propane by the manufacturer but it obviously needs something different. It also says 'low pressure' but you said 5psi and that should be low pressure by any measure of the definition...

    I can build a burner one jet about 2 inches in diameter, that will put out one million btu I don't care how many jets you are using ,propane vapor if you want high btu you need a liquid propane burner

      You only need one jet if it is liquid burner , liquid burners produce millions of btu

  • @julioc3845

    I know heat is important when cooking, but this is overkill. With that amount of heat, you'll never be able to rest the wok, and therefore, not practical. The one jet burner you have made before seems more practical

  • @anubratachakraborty1370

    Is it a heavy duty burner for bulk cooking for 200-300 people?

  • @cantonflavouruk8
    @cantonflavouruk8 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    This type of burner still possess problems for cleaning and servicing the numerous jets, just like the similarly designed and configured predecessors.
