My level of frustration was through the roof with trying to get a decent tutorial. Then I found this. Great job, made it seem simple where others overcomplicated it.
What I appreciate most, other than the great visuals, is keeping to a few basic points and not getting into additional points that would smother the basics. Thanks!
Both your video production value and your teaching skills are exceptional! Many thanks. I am now going to visit your TH-cam page and hope that their other videos relating to the G-1000! Many years ago I used to fly into my home airport in both my Commander and previously in my 182 using their ILS. I did manage to figure out how to capture the ILS on this G-1000 but it wasn't easy without some guidance. My planes still had 'steam gauges' so this G-1000 is new to me. I think that intercepting then flying the ILS is a great exercise for any pilot, in a sim or otherwise. It's fun and it helps to sharpen your skills. Thanks for your excellent work and for sharing.
Thanks for this. As a relative newcomer you have made everything clear. The majority of guides I have come across before seem to add confusion rather that take it away.
Probably a bit late in the comments, but I have only just started using X-Plane, and this tutorial came up when I was looking for something showing how to use the G1000 in the sim. All I can say is excellent, and I'm looking forward to the next tutorials in the series.
EXCELLENT JOB. I am well versed in the G1000 but love the way you explain all the details, and no, for a beginner it is NOT too detailed, in fact is it perfect and would love to see more on the G1000 as well as the GTN 750. Keep up the Great Job!
Hey 👋 thanks a million for the VFR FLIGHT ✈️ Review. I learned that way back in the ‘60’s when I got an Acutron watch for Christmas. It’s really a a great 👍 VFR tool for short hops in unfamiliar territory if you have a watch with analog hands and a road map which most people don’t. But it really works, and it really is a smart idea to keep a map in your flight bag along with a paper sectional. Never know when you might have instrument failure and need to go old school. Anyway, I still like analog watches and flying with steam gauges. Thanks again for a great 👍 video.
I'm delighted you liked the Video Steve, we actually still use the handheld CRP-5's and slide rulers and VFR charts for training here in Europe. Funny story - I was flying in California a few years ago and landed in a small strip, there were lots of Vets from 40's 50's 60's from the airforce having coffee. When they saw me planning my next legs with the manual flight computer at my table - they where amazed, they all come over and were fascinated that I was using such antiquated navigation techniques. They said they haven't seen one since the war! One Texan said, "Hot Dang Kid, use one of these", and put his GPS in my face and proceeded to show me how it worked. I retorted, "What witchery is this"! What sort of sorcery and Idolatry is this!", while I took out the batteries and asked him to show me how it worked. We had a great laugh!!
Matchless! A straight forward navigation vid that assumes no prior knowledge. Now I can go anywhere from anywhere. Thanks Grip, subscribed to my kind of channel.
So far its excellent. I hate flying with glass cockpits and the g1000 auto pilot setup because its so busy. But hopefully with this series it will help sort it out a bit.
Helpful. Good aircraft to use too- because its easier to see the g1000. Would look forward to a session on 1) Using autopilot and 2) flying point to point and then intercepting a glide slope using IFR and RNAV settings. Also what happens/ what to do when you don't pick up the ILS or RNAV signal? The step by step approach is helpful.
I'm a checklist kind of guy. I'd like to see a checklist to follow for installing your departure airport and destination airport. Then maybe a list for planing a waypoint (intersection), airways to a waypoint, and going direct to a waypoint or airport.
The videos that I've seen before only show all the characteristics of the G1000, but here, you actually can start using some of them in a simple flight. Please don't be afraid to add complexity (no too much) to your next videos.
Brilliant Philip, I'm so glad you found the video useful! I'm motivated to make more of these types of videos now. Roll on Flight simulator 2020! Thanks for Subscribing and I'll see you soon again. : )
many thanks for an excellent video on G1000 use suitable for me a newbie to flight simming as you've now got me bitten by the bug I'm now a hooked flyer hungry for more videos' keep up the good work!!!!
Very nice, easy to understand. I hope you plan to do more like this one. When I click the Garmin G1000 in. X-Plane 11 it pops out in a separate screen. The layout is very different from the window behind the popout why?
Thanks so much for the very helpful and most useful I've found for the G1000. Nice small chunks make learning easier for an old codger I am. Especially helpful are your use of enlarging the control/button to use. Looking forward to more tutorials on increasingly complex subjects. Subscribed
Keep them comin' Gripp, I really liked your tips on the other video around VFR handy calculations. I look forward to more of the same and even more on the advanced side.
Reaction Review Thank you very much for your reply. It’s a fast aircraft with a lovely modern cockpit. This will be the next aircraft to be added to my hanger. All the best. Martin 🛩
Nice video think it will help enornmously. Just one point my hdg button gives me 024 degrees, am I on the wrong runway only get runway 3 as option and my runway view seems different although heading still shows 107??

I stopped watching this. All I can make out here is that you are familiar . For someone to learn you have to break the instruction into parts and keep adding parts.
Hi Dick, It maybe my accent which is why you find it difficult to hear me, depending where you come from. However, I do agree that it is a common issue with people speaking too fast on youtube videos, I admit in this video I do speak too quickly, as it is with all new you-tubers, and I was new to youtube in the making of this video. Since the making of this video I have invested in new sound voice recording equipment and speak more slowly. I spoke to a voice actor briefly, and believe it or not there is quite a lot training and technique involved, which I cannot afford at the moment. In my next video, (out on or before this Saturday), I'll Keep your comment in mind, let me know what it sounds like! Here is a later video, let me know if it is clearer than the earlier videos. Hold no punches. th-cam.com/video/D-jMVN_BhR4/w-d-xo.html

Glad it helped!

This is very helpful....I needed this. Simple and to the point. Which suits me just fine.
Glad it was helpful Ralph! Thanks for letting me know! : )

Hi Luis! I'm delighted you enjoyed the video! : )
❤ Most watchable tutorials I've found on TH-cam. It's like a warm hug in video format.😊

Thanks for this beginners guide to GPS and the Garmin 1000. Very helpful for this beginner.
Very well explained for this elderly novice. Bookmarked for revision when needed!

Im very satisfied with the quality of your explanation, you really cut to the chase!
Thanks Rodrigo! I'm glad it works for you!
