just want to thank you for this run, it's so amazing to watch. i watched it 4 times already, often after a long day of work or similar. so relaxing to watch, yet at the same time so intense! great job, dude. also, recently, a friend of mine got TF, also inspired by runners like you. both of us couldn't believe how hard it was to just beat a level for the first damn time. and you are playing 2:37 hours STRAIGHT and breaking all records known to men. this is straight up madness.
Thank you so much! I'm really happy to hear that this was such an enjoyment for people, sadly this category isn't the most popular for runners but everyone else seemed to love it haha.
Ejimak no problem! I just started trying to speedrun this and I have a quick question. For 2-boss, how do you get the double hit at the end when he's dropping down in the big egg? I can't seem to figure it out.
It's just a matter of timing and learning the patters. I'll link you the tutorial. If you are serious about learning the game just tell me and I can link you to the discord group if you want :) Tutorial: th-cam.com/video/dGiECQNovBE/w-d-xo.html
Great run! There were lots of precise jumps throughout, but almost everything went well. My favorite level was 6-5; I didn't expect to see so many risky moves so late in the run. I also liked the high-speed jumps near the end of 7-3. And the out-of-bounds glitches in 4-B were cool; I like how DK gets duplicated.
My jaw is on the floor. My mind cannot comprehend how this is even possible. The dedication, the precision, the strategy, the consistency, the memorization... I'm blown away! You are absolutely amazing!
The game itself defines 100% as "completing all stages" which is why I don't need to collect any puzzle pieces. As you can see, after 6-boss I have 93% completion when I select the game file.
So if a game has a "congratulations you beat the game" screen instead of a game over screen when you die, would you stop playing after your first death?
Yeah...no. There are just several categories in speed running. They have established over the years since different runners prefer different challenges; after all, speed running has become quite popular - e.g. you were watching this video, too ;-) and I would enlist it under professional (gaming) sports, as well. Just look at the dudes out there, how good they are... This only results from intense training units :D
Gotta say. I'm impressed with this run. But my inner completionist thinks the games definition of 100% is a bit odd (but it makes a more fun run to watch thought)
Yeah, it kinda means the percentage of beaten levels, which is weird lol A more proper category name would be like "all levels" but we follow the game's definition
Great bosses with the exception of the broken garbage final boss.. Hitting his back is really just random luck. I've taken damage in the middle of his back and I've clipped straight through his shoulders many times. The most inconsistent hitbox ever made.
You're supposed to, like, hit him once like normal, then hover over the other end of the screen. When he walks there and turns around, the little hop he does is actually out of hitstun, and so, you can hit him twice every time he charges. Oh and if you take damage, you can't hit him during your hitstun. Just keep in mind, you're supposed to shave 15 seconds off an already somewhat strict time to get shiny.
Hmmm, if this is in game 100%, then what's 100%+puzzle pieces? True 100%? aaaaand apparently there's a hard mode and time attack included, I mean the hard mode 100% could be interesting because you're restricted to one hit and one character as opposed to partners + donkey kong, thus requireing certain characters for certain level completion... interesting.
Yeah. that would be like "all collectibles" or "file completion", which some people have done but it's too long of a category... Some people are planning to run "all puzzle pieces" or hard mode, but I don't see it happening in the near future

@@Ejimak1 So your favorite color is dark blue eh?
I never truly realized how cute the background characters are and how good the music is when your playing because it is a stressful game to play
That was so great. I watched the whole thing and my heart rate would pick up during the intense parts.
This makes me so happy :') Thanks!

God this is impressive, especially the cranky segments! You barely ever have to stop moving!

I really like donkey Kong: frozen ape
...I didn't know about the water skipping... first minute mind bown
I literally found your channel because of your play of time games
Looks like Cranky decided to take a page from Scrooge McDuck with his pogo-cane...
This is amazing
2-K was incredible
This game is very hard, epically if you wanted to unlock Hard mode. More like IMPOSSIBLE mode!
If you want to speedrun, ROLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
Beautiful
How are you able to pull the things from the ground so quickly?
you need to mash the jump button while you're pulling
Wait a minute, why aren't there any collected puzzle pieces?

TheMysticEmperor all Kong letters is 100% puzzle pieces 200% gold time trial medals 300% and hard mode completed 400%

Ejimak true. I guess the latter would be a "all collectibles" speedrun.
I agree. I only collected all puzzle pieces in my first playthrough, because there's really no reason to
I guess because Puzzle Pieces only unlock artwork, the developers decided it doesn't really add to the completion amount of the actual game.
I know this is really late but can you make a tutorial on the 4-b out of bounds glitch?
I could but it's patched on the switch version so I dont' really see a point in doing it =/
Ejimak Oh i didn't know it was patched on switch version i didn't think they would patch it

How did you unlock K levels without collecting every KONG letter in each level?
1234Cypher I did collect them though. Exceptions happen on levels which are done more than once.
Gg
How do you do the water skipping trick
2:37:10 what the heck was THAT?
I am impressed
I think Donkey Kong Country 3 game play (collecting DK coins, bomb coins, bear coins for buy and exchange item) is much better.
DKC3 has many levels where you have to wait for stuff, especially if you want to do every single bonus stages. Tropical Freeze flows much better.
Great bosses with the exception of the broken garbage final boss.. Hitting his back is really just random luck. I've taken damage in the middle of his back and I've clipped straight through his shoulders many times. The most inconsistent hitbox ever made.
''the most inconsistent hitbox'' You haven't tried getting the shiny gold medal for Mugly back in Returns, have you?
You're supposed to, like, hit him once like normal, then hover over the other end of the screen. how is this 100% when you skipped puzzle pieces?
OmnissiahZelos we go by the ingame definition, it counts 100% as "all stages".
Empezó con dixie
what's the name of the software on the right side
If you meant the left side it's called Livesplit
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
How did you start out with dixie?
Starting with 2 controllers allow for that but we have to disconnect it after 1-1
Who also likes Cranky the most?

Human TAS

Why do you skip or rather cheat on stage 4- B ?
Not sure if you're aware, but this is in fact a speedrun.
To save time. Also, the way he did it requires quite a bit more skill than completing the level normally.
@@jingle2534 3 years late, but your response is funny as hell.
U for got the puzzle pieces
The game counts "100%" as beating all stages. If you wanna see an all puzzles run here it is one: th-cam.com/video/9DXWZPMmb8o/w-d-xo.html =)
