The fact that you got introduced to bts through born singer is just marvelous.
It is one of their earliest songs which was a cover of born sinner by jcole. And their lyrics talk about their come uppance...
Many people go into bts with a prejudice after listening to only some of their most popular stuff ... but with born singer you just got introduced to everything bts can do.

So, Born Singer is a remake of a J. Cole song called "Born Sinner". They wrote the Korean lyrics and released this song only a couple of weeks after J Cole's original. He has been an inspiration to them throughout their career and they often incorporate his signature melodic rap style.
They made this song at the very very beginning of their career but until now it was not on any album, just a cover/remake they released on Soundcloud and played in concerts now and then. The lyrics are about the struggles with identity (musical artists or 'just' pop stars?) and hate they received while getting ready to debut their first album. Two of the three rappers came from the underground scene and received A LOT of backlash for 'going commercial'. It's a defense of their choices and a clap back to their critics.

The other commenter is right, they already had haters during predebut and it was nasty as well during rookie days. I guess even early on, the industry was already feeling threatened by them. If back then they were threatened, right now they are jealous. That's how they got hate.

  • @aprilforgue
    @aprilforgue 2 ปีที่แล้ว +78

The band is not part of BTS its just the 7 of them. 3 rappers 4 vocalist who debut in 2013. This performance was for thier anniversary of 9 years which we call, Festa. BTS have the best live performances I have ever seen. I was lucky enough to go to there Vegas stadium concert in April which is around where they filmed this. They also did NPR tiny desk but thier true magic is watching them with live audience. I suggest magic shop live performance with English sub to see them with ARMY there magical.

    1. BTS have faced more hate than anyone I’ve ever heard of beginning with jealous fans of other groups. They actually spoke at the White House last week & met President Biden in the Oval Office to speak about Anti Asian hate. They also started from NOTHING & have faced huge Industry resistance first in Korea then in the US because of their success & refusal to succumb to unethical industry practices.
    2. BTS are 7 unique, insanely talented artists who write & produce much of their massive discography. They are the top selling Artist in the world. Their music is amazing & comes in all genres BUT THEY ARE POETS & STORYTELLERS SO THE WORDS ARE IMPORTANT. I know most music today doesn’t put much emphasis on the lyrics, but they do! Thank you so much for reacting to Bangtan. 🫶🏼💜🫶🏼

I think it’s a Korean thing as I’ve never ever seen behavior like that in the USA. It’s mostly from different fandoms, but the other music companies (that were “dethroned “) have been caught practicing dirty pool.

@@TheTwil1 That was the beginning. but Xenophpbia and racism, shading and ignorance has come from the rest of the world, too. XCeleste made an interesting video on BTS Hardships (2021 update I believe) that shows some of that. True, some stuff is a picking p of Korean stories told and "the dark side Kpop" stuff, but there is more.

As a 46 year old ARMY, I am always happy to see new people react to BTS. I truly feel that those who do not give BTS music a chance is missing out on so much talent and good music. You were impress with them seeminglessly singing and rapping. You have yet to add their incredible dancing to the mix. You will be blown outvof your mind. They sing and rap live while dancing insane choreo. Start with their song ON the kinetic menifesto version and you will see what I mean.
BTS discography covers all sort of genre. There is truly smthg for everyone and they write, compose and produce most of their music. More importantly, they write songs with deep and meaningful lyrics that inspires us ARMY. That is why they have such a huge and diverse fan base. You will hear and see nothing like BTS. Hope you continue to listen and enjoy BTS.

BTS get A LOT of hate unfortunate. All they do is spread love and positivity. Plus they are some of the nicest people (I have never met them personally. However ANY report about them has always said the same thing).
BTS is a group of seven (three rappers and four vocalists). They compose, produce, and write their own music along side their in-house producers.
They talk about a lot of important topics such as; mental health, bullying, social problems, regret, follow your dreams, self love, etc. Majority of their songs hear sound like gf/bf love song is usually deeper then that.
They do tons of genre and experiment all the time…
BTS came from a small agency that almost went bankrupt at one point. They all seven shared one small bedroom (plus other trainees that where coming at going; I believe they said their was 9 people sharing a room at one point). They have worked really hard to be where they are at today. They are very funny, talented, and humble…
    I highly recommend:
-Who is BTS Introduction to BTS By Xceleste (to get to know them as a group and what they stand for)
-Introduction to BTS; Bangtan 7 guide by Taylor Nakamoto (updated one pls) (get to know the members better, their roles, and a little of their personalities)
-BTS Crash Course 2020 by Suga and Spice (a little out of date but still highly recommend to get to know what their albums are about up to 2019)
    Song/performance recommendations:
    -Tiny Desk Home Concert
    -BTS Room Live
    -ARMYPEDIA
-Magic Shop live with English subtitles
-Your Eyes Tell live with English subtitles
    -Stay Gold live English subtitles
    -On kinetic Manifesto Film
-On performed live at Grand Central Station
    -I’ll Be Missing you cover
-TvUnplugged performance especially Fix You and Blue and Grey
Edit; I really enjoyed your reaction! Thank you!

Thank you so much for checking out BTS! A lot of people have preconceived notions of what a band from Korea is going to sound like and never give them a chance, so it means a lot to us fans when people listen to them with an open mind. I recommend reacting to their Festa room live, which is a medley of several of their songs from debut until 2020. It gives you a good overview of their music, no live band though. If you want to see them sing with a live band then I suggest their tiny desk concert from NPR. Make sure the closed captions are on for English subtitles. And sometime you ought to see the dance and sing at the same time, cause that’s what they do best.

I’m glad you enjoyed our boys and appreciate their artistry. The one thing I can pinpoint is the difference between them and other groups is 3 rappers, 3 really good rappers (coming from an ol’ lady who didn’t understand rap until they showed me the way). 3 very different styles of rap, 4 very different vocalist. The group’s synergy is palpable. And their live performances never disappoint me.

As someone who is an army and who also loves Anderson Paak after stumbling upon his Tiny Desk Concert back in 2016 (BTS also has a tiny desk concert so feel free to check it out) this was everything that I wanted in a performance. Since AP is part Korean and his wife is Korean, it makes sense that his son is a serious BTS fan. Rumor was that when Andy brought him to the 2000 Grammys where he won two awards, his son spent the entire time looking around to see if BTS would be there! LOL. I am sure Andy did this mainly for his son, who might be a new fan for him now that he has played with BTS. LOL.

I wish if that were true lol but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right, the biggest group in the world is there to prove it... if you want to know more about them there is a very cool video that can really help you to know who is who in the group, the video is long but, if you are willing to react, we will love to watch it with you, "A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" by Taylor ... I will leave the link to make it easier (and try to convince you lol) :

I really love the way that you go about your reactions! It's not only entertaining, but also super informative which I love to see !! Sometimes reactors make general comments like 'yeh that was good' 'I enjoyed that bit', that kind of thing? Which is nice, but you really add something with the way you react to performances

Thank u so very much for giving these boys interest and appreciating their skills and talents, thanks to Andy Paak for that too 😍 And I am so glad I watched this bec u are so observant and so detailed that I learned a lot fr u. Yes u are right all 7 of them are so unique and distinct (both in their tone of voice and styles be it rapping or singing and also for their personalities as individuals which I hope u will see when u continue ur bts journey) but miraculously they also mesh/gel together so beautifully that makes them the most outstanding group ever to me 💜

Live is always the best with BTS. Each member does solo songs and will be doing more in the future to expand their music. They already have over 300 songs and many different genres. MTV Unplugged and the week on Jimmy Fallon gives a good idea of the diversity.

From the sound of your jingle, you are someone I need to check out, too. Only what appears on my radar, I listen to. Never heard a Katy Perry song, a Rihanna song. Finally I watched a Beyonce video. Because BTS danced to Lizzo, I listened to Butter. It was smooth and empty, like biting into cotton candy, enjoyable while it lasted, But no substance. I thought after, "I'll go brain dead if I listen to any more BTS!" That is how I view most popular music. Then,, this live with Anderson .Paak. So I appreciate it's your first time listen, because it is only my 2nd, giving BTS a chance. Enjoyed your take and identifying the different contributions: bass, drum, guitar. The guitarist, Alec Lehrman, supplied complexity which made the concert interesting! His solo sends the first song, Born Singer, to the stratesphere, but I couldn't make out the earlier guitar sounds. I thought, it is the organ. The keyboardist looked like he was playing piano with his left hand rhythm, and picking out the dueting line with his right . . . before the solo kicked in. What a pleasant surprise to find a reaction from a first-time hearing BTS, from a musician reviewer who knows what he is talking about, including audio equipment - thanx! 🙂

I may have said this in other places,
but RM's ( blue mic)...lyrics are very important.
He has an IQ of 148, and reads
    social commentaries like we read
comics. He, and others, have solo albums, as well.
    BTS lyrics are very powerful.
They speak about loneliness, being yourself, loving yourself, racism and
mental illness.. Their message is for Everyone.
You might watch a few 'documentaries' about BTS as a group/individually.
Or just start with "No More Dream"..
their first release in 2013, and work your way to 2022! lol
It's basicly saying it's okay not to have a dream. Not everybody does.
    Amazing lyrics and production from
    a group of teenagers/early twenties.
Thanks for your reaction, welcome to
    the family!
PS.....RM gave a speech at the United Nations when he was 24, and in May BTS was invited to the White House to
    talk about racism.
I sound like I'm bragging, 'cus I am!
These 7 young men are amazing !! 💜💜💜💜

Thank you for trying to listen to BTS, that mean a lot to us :)
Their sincerity and lyrics are what mainly attracted us to them, so thank you again for reading their lyrics.
Anderson Paak is truly amazing artist as well, they must have a blast while performing this.
Recommendation: BTS tiny desk concert or BTS Live room from festa 2021

This Festa is a really special one, for many reasons. It's Bts' 9th anniversary, and they've kinda ''graduated'' from anxious teens, to adults. They're fully grown men now, each one of them with their own unique personality. I'm glad to see them grow, mature and evolve. It's been wonderful to see their progress from 2014 (I became Army during their ''Dark & Wild'' promotions). Just stunning.😍😍

This was really fun to watch and we'd love to see you react to more! You have a lot of interesting commentary and I think you were really open-minded and respectful (which seems like it shouldn't be note-worthy but you would not believe some of the stuff first-time reactors often say). And I like you're angle--you're really knowledgeable about the craft and it's cool to learn. There was a final song in this video that you missed but it's a slower song and a good opportunity to see more of what our vocal line can do and the versatility of our rap line. I'd love to see you react to that too!

I can imagine if BTS was somehow ended in a hangout with curch soul singer, they will jam right in. They are one group of people who really love music and enjoy it…. Wild because most of the time, you will hate your hobby when it become your chores/job. BTS live performance is the best, they enjoy what they do and they enjoyment is contagious. You are very open minded, and I am thankful for that. 👍🏻

Jimin's voice is slighter higher and a more colourfull timbre, so you heard him in his head voice. There are some songs where he does go into a falsetto, mostly in backing tracks or some runs. Jungkook and V do transition smoothly between chest, mix and falsettos. Jin also has a higher register and a fuller voice. Trust this info, follow the BTS rabbit hole. Enjoying your reactions so much! Thank you and keep your good work!

    J-Hope age 28 rapper

    Jimin age 26 vocalist
