My uncle was there, and the photos he brought home are something else. He said it was thrilling and terrifying at the same time. So many people it was out of control, and the military there only added fuel to the fire. The people were just stepping out of complete Communist control and were angry and happy at the same time. He said he wouldn't trade being there, but he was happy as hell he made it out alive.
The black album was the start of a change in sound for the band. You must listen to the first four albums. Kill em all, ride the lightning, master of puppets, and justice for all. I'm 55 but listening to Metallica still gets my blood pumping. RIP Cliff Burton
FINALLY! someone reacts to Harvester of Sorrow and especially this live performance so thank you! The song is about an alcoholic drug addicted father who abuses his family and finally snaps and murders them. I love Harvester of Sorrow not only because of its deep lyrics and state of art music, but also because it is the song where James makes the most growling sounds and just gives me the chills. This live performance of it also adds to how much epic the song is with James getting crazy walking up to the drum set and slamming the cymbals (I think he even cut his hand doing it, not sure) and the crowd and military going absolutely crazy as well and the way the scenes are edited to fit when the line "Harvester of sorrow, language of the mad" come in.
BTW I absolutely agree with everything you said! I wish more people would react to this, It’s my favorite 💕 Creeping Death from this same show is amazing also. Seattle 1989 “Battery” and “Blackened” are 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I think your analysis of the lyrics is valid. Especially when you consider the last song on this album Dyers Eve which is the most ragefilled song about one's parents ever written.
Guess this just came up as I was listening to that Metallica song. Given your name, have you reacted to DJ Screw? Sailin da South is the hardest mix tape intro I EVER heard.
When I was a teenager I did have a Grey tape, but we were on the Northside so we mostly heard swisha house. Still love and respect the legend, RIP Robert Earl Davis!

I can't even imagine. There was an ocean of people! What a crazy memory to have!
That pause in the middle is one of my favorite live music moments. Kirk's weird ass solo tone and the imperfection makes it awesome.
and that SPIT!!!
His voice was godly here
The whole persona was other worldly.
Lars drums in the late 80s early 90s sounded incredible ! Iconic era of Metallica..

I think it was Larz who cut his hand on the cymbal at this show. At the beginning of the song 😬

It was an epic performance, I listened to it again on the way to work today. It's so heavy!

🤠👌
Nice job brother, Metallica definitely one of a kind greetings from Iran.
Metallica in the 80s was the heaviest stuff around, and no radio or MTV airplay
how has someone ur age not heard this before....
Just never got into Metallica beyond Enter Sandman and the other radio hits from that album
This era of metallica was straight brutal.
According to Google, there were no casualties at all during that concert. Pretty amazing, compared to these days...
Power stance!!!
I was thinking the same thing!!! Only power stance that hard is Zakk Wild
From A Year and a Half in the life of Metallica doc, they said 11 deaths, over 200 rapes and people just beaten to a pulp.
Damn, that is horrible and sad🙏😔
Guess this just came up as I was listening to that Metallica song.

Hey man you should really see the ride the lightning live from romania 2019. It's the best ride the lightning take in my opinion. Peace...
Thank you, I will!

Kirk actually messed up the solo here, started on the wrong note and then couldn’t completely recover. Wes still awesome tho.
Didnt even notice.
Texas! Texans rule
Tom Petty halftime show
I heard the song was based on a book written of the peasant farmers and the U.S.S.R.
