So glad you had fun :) I haven't been home in 3 years and this made me so nostalgic. So lovely to see a non-biased positive outlook for once! Ignore the negativity you're bound to get whenever so much as mentioning the name Macedonia haha what's important is that you had fun and you're nice people

@@ConnorandLivvy Because the referendum is believed to be fake. Government changed the name because there is a region in Greece called Macedonia (to please them because they are sold souls and corrupted) and Greece thinks that the country Macedonia is Greek (the history, people, Alexander the Great etc which is completely wrong). But for the people nothing has changed, news reporters still call it Macedonia and even the people around our country call it Macedonia, only politicians call it "North". @@ConnorandLivvy Hi, I am here to explain his explanation, so the region in Greece called "Macedonia" is actually a territory of the Republic of Macedonia that is named Aegean Macedonia that was stolen by Greece in 1913 after chasing away the Ottoman empire from the Balkans (they stole this part WITHOUT A WAR, but with behind the back agreement with Serbia, Albania and Bulgaria to partition Macedonia. This treaty was given a go by the big powers so Macedonia was helpless to react against it, but this treaty was given a duration of 100 years and expired in 2013, which meant that Greece should legally give the territory back to Macedonia (note: Macedonia did not pressure for this, they were fine, but Greece was constantly afraid that Macedonia would ask its land back that they started a massive political process of history theft and denial of Macedonia, because then they dont technically need to return it to the country if they deny the country's identity) in 1946 Greece reinforced its anti-Macedonian politics by genocide and exodus of innocent Macedonian civilian population in Aegean Macedonia).
Basically Greece acts towards Macedonians and Macedonia eerily similar to how Nazi Germany acted towards innocent jews, or how now radical zionists act towards innocent Palestinians.

@Connor and Livvy what he is said is not only very false but extremely insulting, (he is clearly an anti-Macedonia Greek fascist) because Greece has a stolen part of Macedonia called Aegean Macedonia where they did exodus and genocide over innocent unarmed Macedonian men, women and children. So Greece forced Macedonian traitors to unconstitutionally change its name in order to be accepted in NATO, so they don't have to return the stolen territory. There are no Greek statues in Macedonia, only Macedonian, and Ancient Macedonians were not Greek nor are the present ones, every great PhD historian knows this. Greece tries to steal Macedonian history because Macedonia has had the first and only cosmopolitan world empire in all of humanity.

“Modern Greece is by no means related either genetically or culturally to the ancient cosmos and the people who once occupied this land. The modern Greeks are just an intermixture of Balkan tribes (Albanians/Arvanites, Slavs, Vlachs) which in the process of time mingled with northern Africans, Armenians and other tribes of Anatolia, not to mention the francs and the venetians who were also dominantly present in this land.” THE SOCIO-CULTURAL ROOTS OF THE Greek ECONOMIC CRISIS Dimitris Epikouris (a Greek)

@@ConnorandLivvy Lovely video glad you enjoyed your visit and will be watching more of your content and apologies for my long reply.
People like Hellenic, troll anyone that uploads about Macedonia, typical of the Greek-biased machine spinning its wheels of deceit.
Aside from the fact that the name Macedonia was NEVER Greek, not in prehistoric, not in ancient, not in medieval and not in modern times, then how does Greece justify the name "Macedonia" being Greek? Well, in this case, Greece doesn´t have to justify anything; it only has to "declare" as they do with everything!! eg: Greek Easter, no it's "Orthodox Easter", Greek lamb no such thing it's just a lamb, greek yoghurt is just called plain yoghurt because that is how Greece has been operating over the last two centuries, unchallenged!
      (1) Greece acquired these territories that it calls the "northern province of Macedonia", which by the way did not exist as a province, illegally and by war and conquest
      (2) The Macedonian territories never at any time belonged to any Greeks. Macedonia never belonged to the so-called ancient Greeks and Macedonia never belonged to the artificially created Modern Greeks.
Greece has successfully created a "distraction" for the Macedonian people, particularly for their authorities, leading them to focus on non-issues like the so-called "name dispute" instead of focusing on the real problems that the Macedonian people have with Greece, that Greece is desperately trying to avoid and to cover-up.
Not having recognized the Macedonian minority living inside Greece! and Greece does not want to recognize a Macedonian minority because Greece´s aim all along has been to "eradicate" the Macedonian identity.
Why would Greece want to recognize people which, for more than a century, it has been hell-bent on eradicating their existence?
In its attempt to extinguish the Macedonian identity, Greece illegally expropriated Macedonian lands and committed many atrocities against the Macedonian people. Greece, for example, has been exiling Greek citizens because they were Macedonians and for years has been expropriating their properties and lands without compensation. So where does Greece stand with regard to the Macedonians?

If Greece can answer when did the name "Macedonia" become "exclusively Greek"? only after it discovered that the Republic of Macedonia (North Macedonia) now, was about to declare its independence from the Yugoslav Federation in 1991. Why didn´t Greece voice concerns in 1945 when the Republic of Macedonia became a Republic in the Yugoslav Federation by using exactly that very same name? Why the concern after all these years?
Was it by any chance that when the Republic of Macedonia declared its independence from the Yugoslav Federation, Greece was caught by surprise and didn´t know what else to do so it "invented" the name issue!
Since it conceived the idea of "acquiring Macedonian lands", Greece has been fanatical in its aim to deny the Macedonian existence. That attitude has NOT changed from the day it acquired Macedonian lands to this day.
Today when Macedonians are recognized worldwide, Greece still aggressively maintains they don´t exist. This is why Greece´s behaviour has nothing to do with the "name" and everything to do with the Macedonian identity. Greece wants to destroy by removing the name from the Macedonian people and removing the Macedonian identity. not only inside Greece but everywhere, including inside the Republic of Macedonia ( North Macedonia).
Also, the name, the language, the Macedonian ethnic identity, everything! Just as it had destroyed everything Macedonian inside what is now called "Northern Greece" by denying the Macedonian existence, changing peoples´ surnames to Greek surnames, and renaming the Macedonian towns and rivers to Greek names.
Macedonians living there which is now [Northern Greece] were forbidden to speak the Macedonian language, they had to speak and claim they were Greek. Erasing Macedonian writing, by destroying Macedonian monuments, Greece has for a long time and even today attempted to do the same outside of Greece. By banning the Macedonian language, assimilating the Macedonian population into the Greek fold and exiling, torturing and murdering the nonconformists, Greece has amply proven its hatred for the Macedonian people both inside its own borders and outside.
Greece knows very well that part of "northern Greece" originally aka "Macedonia", has a history that they want to claim as their own but refuse to acknowledge the name as to the Macedonian people.
Greece doesn´t care, It never did since 1913 when it acquired Macedonian lands right up until 1991 when back then the Republic of Macedonia declared its independence. Every Macedonian knows and those who experienced life in Greece, know first-hand about Greece´s hatred for that name and everything it represents. For almost a century Greece has desperately tried to bury that name in the darkness of hell.

The new Skopje is far cooler than the old one, only minority hipsters vocally spread the rumour that the old one was better. Skopje now is patriotic, historically accurate and a tourist attraction. It is the most underrated city in Europe and one of the best on the Balkans. The worst on the Balkans, and most over-rated city is Sophia, I went there and got immediately robbed as soon as I dropped off the airport.
