I'm 17 years old, and amazed. Just one woman, one guitar. No drums, not back up vocals, not extra guitars, no studio, no autotune, just what. This is amazing. I love this. Why isn't this getting some light shined too? Like even if it's old, how often do you really see this?
Amazing, isn't it? The answer to your question is: Not often enough. A lot of 'popular' music has gotten quite lazy - when it comes to developing rich harmonies, melodies and bringing out the natural character (voice) of the instruments.
When I first got the CD, I watched it weekly, and often when I'm paying bills, I always turn it on and listen. I saw this tour in Chicago It was amazing as they captured here. I always said Melissa doesn't need anyone, just her and a guitar!!!

She told the world that it is OK to be female and rock a guitar, it is OK to be female and drink whiskey and hang with the guys, she told the world it is OK to be open about who you love. First time I ever heard of Jackie Venson she was performing "All Along The Watchtower" with Melissa Etheridge !!! I was in Awww!! Bet I listened to it 100 times that week !! You could tell Melissa was in Awww too !! I finally listened to her library, and WoW!! It's Fantastic!! Blues & Rock!! I should have heard of her before now 😲

Saw her in Dallas a few years ago, great, great musician. She made a comment during that concert that she couldn't sing in school because she was told she didn't have a good enough voice. Really resonated with me because I have a similar deeper, raspy voice and same thing happened to me in the school chorus and I never felt I should sing. The energy it takes to keep that strumming up is incredible. I've tried, it's intense..Believe me you'll be sweating and in need of water.

This is such a brilliant performance, Melissa goes down into the audience at stage right, so cool. This is from the Live and Alone DVD, filmed 2001 at the Kodak Theatre, released 2002. Originally released on her first album, Melissa Etheridge, 1988. Still a rocking powerful song 21 years later.
Does anyone out there know if Melissa Etheridge ever played on the same bill as Ani DiFranco? Seems like a match made in heaven to me. DiFranco's a headliner herself, although less well-known, but it seems like she would make the perfect opening act for Etheridge. God and I thought I should try to perform professionally....but I had a cyst in the base of my brain and couldn't deal with it...God then showed me they sent Melissa instead to make a statement really...and they motivated her...and she was like a robot in my vision ...I thought it was Lucifer about to squeeze my nuts stiff....and their mindless notes and songs they wrote and didn't care much for were heavy impact messages from Heaven...and they would know if they thought about it...you don't write "Something" for the title of a song...some woman was dictating reality for us when I was Elvis.

DiFranco's a headliner herself, although less well-known, but it seems like she would make the perfect opening act for Etheridge.
