I always thought Myth units were pretty well balanced in AoM. They strike that right chord between 'feels epic to use', while being easy enough to field counters against that they don't just decimate everything. Mass Myth is both fun to use, while rarely being truly overpowered.
With all the myth units, would have been really nice to see the temple of healing used. Sending a couple villagers to build a temple in the middle of the map could have made up for the lagging economy
Imo the game was over the second zeus was forced to underworld passage for his villagers. Really smart play by suppe + frost was top notch. After that with Odin economy (he's been hunting the entire game+ skadi farm upgrade + gold from dwarves) it got really hard for him. I was sad when there was no Njord or Heimdall but suppe clearly made the best choices for MG to take and it showed. Maybe zeus could've saved for 2 underworld?
Well, that frost wasnt the reason Suppe won or Matrieus lost. The reason is that the Greek human units are expensive and weak instead of expensive and strong

Matrieus clearly lost due to not protecting against that raid timing. Even then he was ahead in army, suppe just went ahead in economy and it took a couple if minutes to have that reflected.
@@stardust507 murmillo is stronger than hoplite. Fully upgraded berseker is kind of equal to athena hoplites. Hoplites should have been the strongest but they are not. And myth units are completely irrelevant against all civilizations except the Greeks. They can all mass heroes which can actually do ok against human units too.
I think it’s less to do with Odin being weak and more so people figured out just how strong some of the other Norse gods are. AoM is a remarkably well-balanced game compared to other competitive games to the point where the weaker aspects of it are more, “People just haven’t figured out how to use this properly yet.”
What do you guys think are the best counters from greeks against norse? I see why a lot of people are spamming hippeus (just like metreiuss) against norse, especially when on Poseidon. But I recently discovered for my self (as Hades) that going into ares and then go for toxotes and greek-counter-infantery (forgot the name) works really well against norese. Its possible to build the counter-infantery already in age II with a specific ares tech. And toxotes + counter-infantery counters everything norse has to offer except rading cavallery. But here its easy to switch in hoplites against the cavallery, as the tech and infrastructure for infantery building is already there. I wondered what others think about this strategy :)
The changes to food gathering and spawn food are all indirect nerfs to Odin. Hunt is not as comparatively good and Odin wants max hunt. So in games where Odin is hunting, raiding, forcing opponents off hunt, someone is e.g. forced onto base berries there's more of it available and less of a food gathering discrepancy than there used to be.
Norse players: don't build Godar (plural of Godi). Unless it's a flying myth unit, they're terrible. Counter myth units with Hersir, Myth Units, or Ring-Giver Jarls. Just look at how this game goes from winning to losing to winning.
Is it normal that one has to double click on a recently placed building-foundation to get the villagers to actually build it? When I place a foundation, vills will just walk over and go idle, but wont build it, I need to click them again to do so. However, I only have this issue in online matches, but not in single player/campagne, therefore I am confused if this is on purpose/a mechanic or a bug. *I also have the feeling its worse with greek, as I sometimes have to click more than 2 times to actually build a foundation, while on atlanteans I have no problems. But thats maybe just my imagination and I thing I clicked >= 2 times but actually did only once.

Totally agree with your Norse comments, in extended they just weren't as viable in late game compared to retold imo
Pretty much every weakness they had has been removed from the game, the devs are clearly norse players.
