Do you know the values of the capacitors on the button assembly? Or does it perhaps make more sense to take the components from a donor button?
You can always take a home button, Unsolder the capacitor and measure it's value.

Memory issue, possibly a bad connector.
I'm guessing its not a year old and therefore it's worth a check at your local Apple Store, you maybe surprised how helpful they are.
The fingerprint will work after the replcement ....
So replaced my lcd and i put back my original home button, but now my fingerprint will not read anymore.
Hello, you either damaged the home button's flex or the long flex running the LCD and connects home button to the logic board.

I think he didn't fix this home button! If you watch in slow motion you will realize that the button didn't read the finger print ! Sorry buddy it is my opinion.
Hey, thanks for your comment. You don't have to watch it in slow motion, cause as I said in the video it won't work until a restore is done. This is why the device has been restored with the broken home button and there is no finger print sensor linked to the cpu. A better video is coming with the same but more difficult repair on 6s.

Hi there i have a question regarding touch id feature, Would it be possible to have a aftermarket touch id home button programmed on to a aftermarket display screen otherwise is there any chance of buying a original quality display screen for the original touch id button to work with the replacement screen?
Who knows how to fix a ripped home button flex, It's ripped right at the top on home button and not flex cable so it would be a pretty tight fit if you were going to solder it or however you fix it, I'm willing to ship it out lol
If I have two original home buttons with torn flex cables can you give me a link so I can have you repair them for me ?

Maybe you damaged the long flex that connects the homebutton and the logicboard through the lcd. Try another.
Hi I have an iPad Pro 12.9 motherboard (working) without a home button (Touch ID)which I’m going to use to change a motherboard of a non working iPad Pro 12.9. Can I reuse the home button from the damaged one on the working one?? I know the Touch ID won’t work but will it function just as a home button?? It should work like physical button but as you said touch Id won't work.

What was the problem of the original button?
Good work. But in situation like this, I prefer unsolder with Roses alloy, put a little on both sides of capacitor and then even heat on one side it will be unsoldered.

How would you go about a fully torn touch ID button? De solder chips or reattach ribbon?
+Hansel Wei resoldering chip isn't possible so the only way to go is to reconnect the flex using micro-wires.

If it's fully ripped then it's not worth it. You better go to apple and have you screen replaced out of warranty. You will get a new working home button.

I opened my phone took off the screen and unscrewed the thing on top of the button because i wanted the button to be tighter then i unplugged the button and plugged it back in and touch id wasnt working when i turned it back on.

Yang Tao Hello, I don't know the value of this capacitor as there is no schematic but you could harvest one and measure its capacitance if you want. It will maybe work without it in place but I always prefer to put things where they are supposed to be.
Why need to go through all these when you can get the home button assembly from eBay for just $ 5?
Dj Laostar because the home button is linked to each device's cpu and if you replace the original one you gonna lose touch ID function. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for commenting.

No, fingerprint sensor will work only with the original home button that came with the device because its paired with the cpu.
