see, i haven't really seen any game do what half life does - enabling players to go flying without much effort, while keeping the movement fluid and natural; whereas tf2 requires you to put in more effort (which means you can't move around as much during a gunfight), and quake champions just feels stiff and unnatural, artificial even, like it's trying to give you a "hl1(or the original quake, ig)-like experience", but failing because of making those aspects into sloppily baked-in mechanics. that's why i love half-life 1 so much. also, i mention quake champions in specific because i've seen people praising it as "the return of movement shooters!!!", but after actually playing it, i feel like those were made solely as advertisements for the game, because i do not think this game is a good representation of the movement shooter genre whatsoever. in fact, to me, it comes off as a cheap imitation of what those who don't play movement shooters think they play like. though i haven't played quake champions in a while (dropped it after one or two sessions lol), so maybe i'll try playing it again soon and seeing if i was wrong about it. sorry for dumping all of this under your comment in specific lmao, i just got reminded of this while reading it
