All locos I have seen and travelled with steam, diesel and electric YAM-1. Those days were glorious and just like England we must keep our heritage and pride.

Chennai had MG till 2003, Electric EMU was running from beach to chengalpettu. I have seen how tracks were converted into broadguage. construction started from beach Station,with in 2004 all the tracks were broadened and simultaneously tirumailai to velacheri construction was happening, I have traveled extensively in meterguage trains.
Iam 55,usef to travel a lot mainly loved the sounds as train picks up speed,one pair of trains which whwere outstanding was vaigai&pallavan in metre guage.Metre guage trains shake crisscross,firstly its an old design,even i used to get down to see whether anything is wrong underneath,i mean in 75-80',its great to see your interest in history,great job keep going 🌹👌

Bro, only MG train till 1994 in Madurai division !! Pandyan Express was 117/118 and used to take 11 hrs 15 mts to Chennai - grean livery with yellow band, used to Express fare if average speed was over 45 kms/hr.. Madurai Tirupati through mainline was 24 hours ! on Meenakshi express

Actually TN had one of the highest network of MG line in after the 90s. . The last decent MG train route in SR was TBM to Trichy main line. Many daily trains, prestigious trains ran .I have travelled many times. The most difficult part is 3tier sleeper. Getting in and out needs special skills. Else you could be trapped in it completely... But MG is more efficient to run than BG due less weight and quick accelaration. It is taking so long to convert to BG almost > 35 years, (after project uni gauge was announced by the the RM Mr. Jafer sharief in Narasimha rao govt in 1991 to 96 period.) latest converted line was Theni MDU , still Peralam to karaikkal remains to be converted.

Nowadays metre gauge has become a heritage railway. In my childhood Pandiyan Exp, Vaigai Exp and Rockfort Exp were metre gauge. Southern Railway had the only electrified metre gauge line. I lived in Gujarat for 20 years. Most of Gujarat was metre gauge once upon a time.

The yellow green livery or Orange yellow livery and total 9 coaches with one A/C coach with all coaches having chair cars and saloon sunglasses with tube lights!!!!! It used to run with meter guage diesel YDM4 loco with 110kmph!!!!!!!!!!.. The first maiden journey by meter guage diesel YDM4 has completed in 7.05 hours between Madurai to Chennai which even today the many broad guage trains are not doing!!!!!!!! Also it is noteworthy to mention that, for some short period, the train was running completely in silver white color!!!!

I have travelled in Vaigai express, Cholan express, Sengottai Fast Passenger, Kamban Express etc in late 80's and early 90's in metre gauge. Vaigai express is one of the fastest train almost 110 km/hr..it will take only 7 hrs from Chennai to Madurai... with only 3 stops.... Villupuram, Trichy and Dindigul... Even the Engine front side Vaigai express name board will be there also white color special diesel engine for Vaigai express.. So much importance given to Vaigai express.. In fact mg train vaigai express was faster than Bg vaigai express..

I traveled ADI - UDZ meter gauge train. Extremely vera level route bro. Amazing places are there like hills, jungle etc.. Try to travel this route bro. I recommended to travel this route.
Nowadays metre gauge has become a heritage railway. In my childhood Pandiyan Exp, Vaigai Exp and Rockfort Exp were metre gauge. Southern Railway had the only electrified metre gauge line. I lived in Gujarat for 20 years. Most of Gujarat was metre gauge once upon a time.

Brother, nice and much appreciated! Yes I have travelled in meter Vaigai express from Chennai to Madurai..... Can you believe it was doing 110kmph!!! The yellow green livery or Orange yellow livery and total 9 coaches with one A/C coach with all coaches having chair cars and saloon sunglasses with tube lights!!!!! It used to run with meter guage diesel YDM4 loco with 110kmph!!!!!!!!!!.. The first maiden journey by meter guage diesel YDM4 has completed in 7.05 hours between Madurai to Chennai which even today the many broad guage trains are not doing!!!!!!!! Also it is noteworthy to mention that, for some short period, the train was running completely in silver white color!!!!

I have travelled in Vaigai express, Cholan express, Sengottai Fast Passenger, Kamban Express etc in late 80's and early 90's in metre gauge. Vaigai express is one of the fastest train almost 110 km/hr..it will take only 7 hrs from Chennai to Madurai... with only 3 stops.... Villupuram, Trichy and Dindigul... Even the Engine front side Vaigai express name board will be there also white color special diesel engine for Vaigai express.. So much importance given to Vaigai express.. In fact mg train vaigai express was faster than Bg vaigai express..

We used to travel from Bangalore to Velankanni, we had to get down at Trichy (Broad gauge) and change (to Meter gauge) at trichy for onward journey to Velankanni
