Heritage Hour: For Posterity's Eyes Only

Some of the documents in our museum collections reveal the inner thoughts, opinions, and feelings of our local residents. This includes diaries, journals, and correspondence that have been carefully stored for decades (or in some cases, over 150 years!)
In this Heritage Hour learn about the lives and times of these interesting subjects as we dive into gems from the archives. There are fascinating things you can learn about history by examining records that weren’t originally created for the public eye.

It's so interesting to hear the residents of the county at the time describe their every day life. The account of that fire was particularly vivid. I wonder if the small towns like Sombra were larger back in the 19th century. I've seen some very early films of Forest on TH-cam showing the streets packed with people.
