I have seen ths movie as a child, as teen, middle age and now as senior. Until my last breath, I will still keep in listening to the song and seeing the movie. Thank you
Although I'm related to much younger generation of the 70's, when I discovered this movie, I felt in love with the film forever! And song, OMG, one of it's kind!
Marni Nixon's voice was wonderful... dubbing for Kerr in this film and the King and I, for Audrey Hepburn in My Fair Lady and for Natalie Wood in West Side Story. As for Deborah Kerr, she's absolutely divine in this movie, working with Cary Grant.
I love Marni's voice too. A couple years ago, I bought a CD (mixed titles) with a song called "I could Have Danced All Night" to be sung by Marni Nixon. I was so glad to have this CD with her name on. Then, I further noted that she was one of the Nuns appeared at The Sound Of Music - The movie by Julie Andrews.
The greatest thing about Marnie, in my opinion, was her amazing ability to copy the actual speaking voice of every actor she doubled for. Notice the subtle Irish brogue she used in this interpretation for Deborah Kerr. Incidentally, the work she did with Kerr in "The King and I" was the first time in history where TWO women sang the same part, together. Deborah actually sang the lower notes, then Marni did the high notes. Her job was so flawless that you will not even notice it until you play back the song several times. She was a total genius, the greatest voice to ever grace the Hollywood firmament.
This movie is certainly a tear jerker , but this movie is made with such style, and class, the iconic Miss Deborah Kerr sings this beautiful song with such passion and style, the, the music and lyrics are so beautiful and true to its meaning, The wonderful Beautiful Miss Deborah Kerr will NEVER EVER be Forgotten and whenever we see this beautiful Movie we will remember her FOREVER in this iconic role. Bravo Miss Deborah Kerr.
This song will always be one of my all-time favorites. The same with the movie. It's so wonderful & heart-wrenching, especially the ending. I cry every time I watch it, even though I've seen it so many times. I adore Cary Grant & Deborah Kerr. They're perfection.
Lyrics: Our love affair is a wondrous thing That we'll rejoice in remembering Our love was born with our first embrace And a page was torn out of time and space Our love affair, may it always be A flame to burn through eternity So, take my hand with a fervent pray That we may live and we may share A love affair to remember
I love this movie and this song. Weird though …I’ve had this song playing in my head this past week and then it pops up on you tube. Cue Twight Zone music.
I keep coming back to this lovely video. On an interesting note, the great MGM vocalist Marnie Nixon did the singing for Deborah here, just as she did for her in "The King and I." She was so good that she used a British accent in the first, and a slight Irish lilt for her character here. Just listen closely and you'll pick it up....
This movie is one of my favourites. Every time I watch it I cannot stop crying, and this is getting ridiculous because I have seen it. not less then 20 time. I should be immune to it! I love it; Deborah Kerr is wonderful and so is Cary Grant. It is a beautiful love story.
I watched this last October with my wife after finding the DVD at a charity shop. I felt tearful at the end, but she didn't. In November, we separated after 31 years of marriage. Last week I took it to my 88 year-old Mother's bungalow, and we watched it together. Mum couldn't believe how great a movie it is, and loved it so much. Very gratifying. This week we are going to watch the movie that was inspired by it, Sleepless in Seattle. It was only today that I remember that during the last scene with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan on the viewing deck of the Empire State building, the song 'Bye Bye Blackbird' morphs into 'An Affair To remember'...
Thanks God I had a lot of supports from you all, I thought I was the only one to cry like that, but the saddest thing is I cried when in Sleepless in Seattle this movie is remember. You are so right when you said, we are nearly ready for another round very soon!
For me, the instantaneous connection this song makes to happier and carefree times is so overwhelming that I sometimes click away because I don’t want to cry-again.
My all time favorite. Has been for years. The only adaptation I care to watch and nobody did it better than Cary and Deborah. Bought the CD so I can watch it any time I want. And I do.
Lovely British lady who was very talented; she trained as a ballet dancer before she graced the stage and screen with her artistry. I love this song and she sings it well. She lived to age 86, and her husband died within 3 weeks after she did; he must have had a great love for her. I love her singing this beautiful song, the lyrics are so meaningful!
I'm sitting here now watching An Affair To Remember on AMC and I was waiting for this scene. How fortuitous to have found it here!!! That last note was heaven! Thanks for sharing.
Even I will view this movie many times, I will not regret because its the most romantic love story ever I've seen so far. Thanks to Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr.
@@PaulReynolds-vu1uc Thank you for that info. That skipped my memory. So credit goes to Marni Nixon- thank you, Ma'am!- but I'm sorry to say that every time I hear the song, it is still Deborah Kerr who comes to mind. :)
Giuliana, this is one of my favorite love songs and movies. I suppose at age 65 I've seen a lot of movies, but special songs like this I can hear over and over again! They don't exist anymore, but I've been to night clubs like the one in this scene from the movie. They were wonderful places to go with friends and hear great music.
This is a lovely, memorable song. I just watched this movie a few days ago and I love it - even though it's the 4th or 5th time I've seen it. It is lovely and sweet and has an endearing quality missing from much of today's music.

The King and I, who was singing ?
在聽完了Vic Damone 的 “An Aftair To Remember “後,
Nat King Cole
2023.2.20.
