I listen to this purt near ever day!!!! This is by far thee best version of this great tune ever played! Tony Rice is a monster. He is not of this earth!!!!!
Just do a search for amazon and manzanita, you will find Tony Rice's album by that name. Many of these musician's played on that album, hence the name they gave this band. You can hear clips of all the recordings on that album on amazon site.
Manzanita is my favorite Bluegrass/Folk album. It's interesting to note that there is no banjo on the entire album. The original Genseng Sullivan featured Ricky Skaggs on fiddle. It also featured Sam Bush and Jerry Douglas. Nice to see this song redone with 3 players who were on the original recording of the late 70's. (Rice, Bush, Douglas) I'm not sure who the bass player or fiddle player are on here.
I can't hear jerry's vocal part at all, I only hear two parts and there are three people singing. The guitarist is singing the tenor line... where's Jerry?
Good lineup here.
