    PGY2 Ophtho here. I’d love it if you did a box opening vid of some of the “ultra-budget” BIOs I see for sale on eBay from India. Always wondered if it would be worth it to buy one for my own call bag instead of having to stop by our consult room on my way to the ED at night.

      Oh that’s interesting. I don’t have any on hand to review unfortunately but it’s a cool idea.

    Please make a video of how an IMG can get into an ophto residency!

      I'll try. I'm not really well versed on the topic but I'll look into it. I appreciate the suggestion!

      Undifferentiated medical student podcast does an episode where the host interviews an ophthalmologist who is also an IMG! Hopefully that helps

    Great job doctor 💜 so I have a question : I'm 20 years old and I recently wore glasses,my left eye is really weak it's 2 on a scale of 10 and I think it goes cross towards the outside corner of my eye i don't know if I had this since childhood and how no one noticed but I'm really scared that it'll go worse 😢😢 anyway good luck doctor

      The best thing would be to follow up with an eye doctor to get an exam. Best of luck.

    Do you have any advice for a med student about to start their ophtho rotation? Mores specifically, resources and how to impress?

    • @doctoreyeballmd7493
      @doctoreyeballmd7493  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Resource-wise I would check out ophtho book. There are youtube videos by Tim Root youll find helpful. I wouldn't worry too much about trying to be impressive. Just feel out if ophtho is right for you and work hard. Do things and be helpful without being asked and people will notice. Good luck!

    Does your program require you have your own call bag? Also a second year Ophtho resident at a program which shares a common call bag provided by program, so it is interesting to see you have your own.

    • @doctoreyeballmd7493
      @doctoreyeballmd7493  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They don’t require us to have our own but there isn’t a shared bag so it’s kind of necessary for us. What program if you don’t mind me asking?

      @@doctoreyeballmd7493 University of Nebraska. Program provides pelican 1560 case with indirect, portable slit lamp, tonopen, lenses, gonio lens, eye drops for Glc or dilation

    I am not sure if I understood you correctly. Are you doing an anterior chamber puncture with a cannula (10:20)? It's risky. The anterior chamber can flatten very quickly and thus induce injury to the iris or puncture of the lens capsule.
    If a paracentesis lance is not available, a syringe filled with BSS can prevent uncontrolled drainage during the incision. Thicker cannulas e.g. 18G don't go in that easily and deeply. So you gain more control. Nevertheless, it is better to use a side port blade.
    Otherwise great backpack. Clever and streamlined!
