I think the game had a good idea with its story and campaign progression, plus the incredible roster.
I think its fight mechanics are a mess. It confuses me why they couldn't just take the systems from Save the Earth instead of dealing with this weird regenerating crap.
So... Meh game, but it had good ideas.

I've already said my peace about the Wii version in your G2000 run on there, but this one...oh boy *this* one...
Props to you for making this game look good, but man...this game is *BROKEN* . I ain't even mad about the massive monster omissions (save for maybe King Caesar and Biollante). I ant even mad that Battra and Obsidius are clones. What I'm mad about is that the game is a bugged out, glitchy mess with horrible framerate issues. Take those away and you have exactly what G:Unleashed needed to be. Great game, good controls, awesome story. But *NOOOO* , they just *HAD* to rush the shit outta this version and half ass it. I ain't even *mad* that it's basically a glorified Save the Earth mod! Just bugfix your game, Atari! That's all I wanted!
And again, agreed! Part of me wants to enjoy this game since it's basically GSTE re-released, but it's a broken mess... which, compared to the Wii version's unfun motion controls, the buggy nature of the PS2 version actually MAKES it fun sometimes. I'm pretty sure Obsidius has a throw that's so incredibly bugged that it looks like monsters are being warped into the 4th dimension as they fly into the air. It's fantastic.

Yeah, the jerk ):< I usually don't care who gets the last hit in team battles, but for the PS2 version, you gain an extra 500 points for every monster you land the last hit on. Very helpful for unlocking the pricey stuff in the store.

@@slycat1286 He only died once ... in the original Rodan. Both the male and female apparently perish in the volcano at the end of the film. Yet... We see that, perhaps, the male one survived in Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster. So I don't know what you're on about. Very strange.

Just found this playlist and started watching it. Why don't the monsters block? In my game they block all the time but they don't ever seem to block for you.
I may have been playing on Easy mode...
What this game REALLY needs is a mod, not a small mod like a sfx mod, a GAME CHANGING mod. I'm saying that some fan made edits can really save this game, kind of like the Overhaul mod for Godzilla unleashed. For example, changing the textures of the monsters and maps can really help it look less ugly. Change Battra's model with the save the earth model OR a new one all together, and put Biollante in, since she is in the Save The Earth files, almost complete. Some tweaks like that, and make it available for PS2 emulators or something. I know this would take a lot of work, but I've seen mods like this before, and I think it can happen. Just and idea.

Hey SGG! I have a tip for when you do the Wii longplays: when you play as an Earth Defender, destroy the mothership, if you're a GDF Mecha, defeat the Alien guarding it. It's just an idea to make the final cutscene consistent, because if you destroy the mothership as a GDF it will still say "it was one of EARTH'S MONSTERS" when you explicitly did it!
No promises, but I'll try to keep that in mind. I wondered how that dialogue triggered for the mechs.

Wii look better but the only thing that sucks about it the Wii motion controls but I wish that could let u use gamecube controller like Godzilla Destroy All Monsters Melee. Ps2 is good but had less monster to play as and ps2 controls are great to play with. :)

Fall back! AAAAAAGGGHHHHH!!!
Tokyo: Global Defense, Tokyo is underwater, battered by unrelenting tsunamis caused by offshore crystal activity. We have evacuated the population to higher ground and all are safe, for now. Offshore sensors indicate monster signs but we cannot identify the sonar profile. It's possible the crystals have awoken some new monster from the deep.

how do you use "friendship points" or whatever they are in Godzilla kaiju collection?
+squishysfatherrage On the main map menu, on the bottom-left bar, there should be a square icon with a "G". Click that, then click the middle blue tab. You can spend your friend points there, trading them in for monsters. It costs 200 friend points per monster.

That's because... you'd be right! This game is basically Save the Earth v1.5 - all the same monsters (plus two clone characters of Obsidius and Battra), but with a minuscule stage selection & pretty bad controls.

How come you can’t play as Godzilla 90’s and Godzilla 1954 in the Wii version on story mode?
I can't remember the exact details, but... G1990s, G1954, and Mechagodzilla 2 were the last 3 monsters added to the game. When one of the devs added MG2 to the story mode, it ended up delaying the game, which stressed everybody out. So in order to add G1954 and G1990s into story mode, it would require more delays, and they didn't want to risk doing that again.

Yeah, really strange why they didn't use her now. I think the only move she didn't have programmed was her Rage attack, but that would've been fine since GU got rid of those in favor of Critical Mass.

After watching this all I can say is, THANK GOD I grew up with Save the Earth rather than Unleashed. This game is a downgrade in every way except for the roster.
