Definitely taking note of the pedit > L > o. Thanks for sharing. Would you know how to accomplish a similar task but for plotting? I designed for a 1"-20' scale for my design sheets, but for my cover page, I'm at a 1"-120'. When I go to plot, all the line thicknesses bleed too big. I'm looking for a quick way to scale down/ thin out the lines during the plot process without having to go to each layer and change the plot color in the .ctb file.
Hi your videos are super helpful!!! For some reason my lineweights print differently than what they are assigned in plot styles. What to do to make them the same?
Thanks for the great tutorial. Does the linetype scale need to be changed for every line individually at every scale, or can they be annotated? In other words, if I draw in dashed lines in model space at 1:100 and switch to a 1:50 layout, do I need to change every dashed line? Thank you.
Thank you so much!!! I've been going through this trouble a lot of times but I just couldn't figure it out. So, thank you for the quick yet meaty tutorial!
I have an issue with my line types not showing up to equal scale when working with an xref. How do I get my line types to stay the same in both the xref and drawing new layers?
Thanks for your good work. I'm in AutoCAD 2020 LT. My line type scale settings appear to be changed without my setting them. Continuous lines are all given a .3 setting. Is there a base line, default condition, for line type scale settings for various types of continuous and intermittent lines?
What is the relation of light type scale in tab drawing(worksheet) rather its in the mks and fps in autocad, please tell us how autocad works rather im changing the scale 1:30, 1:50, and so on.
Thanks for the video! I cannot get either of the tips you shared to work for me. It's a line I created and the weight of the line is also thicker (.40mm). Any other tips you have would be greatly appreciated!
In model space and paper space my lines look good for 1/8'' and 1/4'' scale but when I publish it to PDF and print preview, they show up as solid lines. Any ideas?
Brandon, is there a way to set a layer to a specific linetype scale without changing the individual line properties or LTScale of the drawing? I'm setting up some drawing standards and am trying to make them as simple as possible.
Hi. I understand changing the scale of the linetype, but can this be annotative to remain the same visibly even with scale changes. Particularly in paper space.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching and commenting. You can fade a line in a few ways, you could make a layer with a grey or faded color for your "faded" linework. Or you can give the layer or even just the objects you want to fad an opacity value in the properties. Using a higher number will fade the line more by making it more transparent.
I enjoy watching your videos and would greatly appreciate your help. I can change the scale of a dashed polyline in Model space and make it look correct, or I can change the scale to make it print correctly. Is there anyway to make it look correct when both printing and drawing? Thank you...
Hello Brandon, the issue is with the text in line types not showing up layout, not model. every time i zone out if i've done a big multiple story building i lose all my text within in the lines and they're just plan lines then. cheers mate
The problem that I've been running into is that if I apply a different LTS to the linetype with CATV then the text itself gets smaller. Is there any way around this? Also, in Microstation (an alternate CAD program) I remember there being a command where you could click a line and "shift" the pattern along the line, so if you just didn't like where the text was appearing along the line you could move it. I haven't found anything like this in ACAD. I'm trying to create a legend with short segments for line type examples but if it's too short nothing comes up. If I change the LTS to the point that it does show up the lettering is tiny. Any help is appreciated.
sir, how can make a line type with exact dimension like if we want to make a dashed line which have 3m line portion n 3 meter gap on each interval is this possible.?
I scaled my drawing from real dimensions into M=1:300 , as soon as i did that my dashed lines became continious , i tried many numbers on linetype scale but nothing changes. help please its for an exam :D
Hello,Brandon. Would you know Please , how to resolve problem: in Xref lines are ok, but whem I switch to main drawing lines became to be read in wrong scale.it is like main drawing has different ltscale than the x- ref but this is imposible in Autocad 2011. What to do? do not have idea? thank you for consideration. Jan
Hi Dear Brandon I Have one issue about line type space sometime i have to work on drawing of other person so if i use scale like mm and my door size is 1000mm and other person use scale like meter and he put door size 1m this i can manage but line type scale problem how i tell you see that is my door i created block of my door and use hidden line for showing door swing area so in my drawing my line type scale is 25.00 or 1 (command LTS ) my drawing unit is mm ok and he made door block same as i made but he used unit of drawing Meter and in his drawing he used line type scale 0.025 (Command LTS ) so sometime i bring my blocks in his drawing when i have to work in his drawing so for that i open my drawing and simply ctrl+c and ctrl+v in his drawing for bring my door block then my door block is not show swing line in dash to solve this i have to edit block and need to change scale of line so please tell if there is any easy way and make one tutorial on it how to communicate and do work fast on different units of drawing like mm, cm and meter. and please send me some professional drawings i'm new in my field in architecture so i can learn from it. my E.mail is sendmenow@gmail.com (if you will not get my question tell me by mail) i also watch your tutorials its really help me ! Thank you so much Faisal
SO I copied a custom line type from one .dwg to another. The text in the line is huge, but if I scale it down, the line becomes tiny slices (wrong scale). The original .dwg looks fine and has the same properties. how can i fix this?
Man I have an autocad block of a regulator that a dashed line in BLOCK EDITING MODE appears fine. But as soon as I get out of BE it shows solid. Nothing I tried seems to work. I tried your LT scale trick and nothing. Any ideas? Thank you
Hi, there . I got a problem. My autocad got crashed. After reloading, line type wasn't showing. Hidden, center, or phantom were all shown like continuous inspite zooming & increasing ltscale. Only fenceline was showing, was changing as well. Gap between others were not changing. Did it got corrupt, what should i do, reply.
Hey, I agree with Braun, I don't think you can maintain the color from the individual layers when combining, if you're using Color BY LAYER which I assume you are, then the objects will all take the color of the layer they are on. A work around would be to set the color of the objects to an actual color and not assigned BY LAYER, then when you combine them all to a single layer, they will maintain the individual colors you had chosen for each. Hopefully that helps and makes sense in writing. Cheers!
Thank you guy, that was a good one. I have this question. I insert in my drawing a linetype I would like to modify. It is not in my *.lin file. How could I modify this line to a new with some parameter changed.? Thank you again for your video, I learned something new.
Hi Braun, thanks for the suggestion! I'll add it to my list. I do plan to do some more Civil 3D videos soon and breaklines would definitely be helpful there.
I have my linetype scaled to 25.0 in my model view but it only shows in my paper space ??? my model space is not changing... making it difficult to go back and forth ?? HELP
Linetypes and labels show up fine in model space, but they don't show up in paper space. I have already tried viewport scaling trick but no luck so far.
Hello, I find this Question in Exam and I want the correct answer. Question: In line types, which of the following is used to generate a space? A dot A negative number A positive number Alignment field “A”
Finally a video without a broken english.
Thank you very much Brandon. Question: do I need to turn on ltype generation for every line I have on the drawing or this applies automatically?

i encountered the same problem as well.
Just change the lts.. Make it one. Ur problem will be resolved
In model space type in “lts” set it to 1. Then in paper space type in “pslt” set it to 0. You’re welcome 😊

Hi, my line shows its center but does not display as so, even while zoomed in. Any chance it's a simple setting?
Is it possible to have two different lts in seperate paperspace view ports
Hi Dear Brandon
I Have one issue about line type space sometime i have to work on drawing of other person so if i use scale like mm and my door size is 1000mm and other person use scale like meter and he put door size 1m this i can manage but line type scale problem
how i tell you
see that is my door i created block of my door and use hidden line for showing door swing area so in my drawing my line type scale is 25.00 or 1 (command LTS ) my drawing unit is mm ok
and he made door block same as i made but he used unit of drawing Meter
and in his drawing he used line type scale 0.025 (Command LTS )
so sometime i bring my blocks in his drawing when i have to work in his drawing so for that i open my drawing and simply ctrl+c and ctrl+v in his drawing for bring my door block
then my door block is not show swing line in dash to solve this i have to edit block and need to change scale of line
so please tell if there is any easy way
and make one tutorial on it how to communicate and do work fast on different units of drawing like mm, cm and meter.
and please send me some professional drawings i'm new in my field in architecture so i can learn from it.

So how do you convert all layers to one layer while maintaining the color of the converted layers.
Alain Sarius don't think you can.

CAD Intentions look forward to it. Thanks for all the useful and hard work!!
How do you edit the scale/size of the text in the linetype?
Great video. But i have another issue, how to fix linetype doesn't changed on "layout" page.. thank you
Can we change linetype in surface created for contours?
when I have an existing line like your red line I can not change it to the Line Type CATV like you have in your drawing.
What about 3d polylines? Is there a way to fix how they display?
I wanna change the lts of a single line irrespective of others. ?
how do i copy different line types to word and they remain the same as drawn in autocad, thanks.
I have my linetype scaled to 25.0 in my model view but it only shows in my paper space ??? my model space is not changing... making it difficult to go back and forth ?? HELP
I tried both of your solutions and it still isn't working, the scale is 1:100 in meters and still anything doesn't show up
Lower the scale. Lowering the scale increases the frequency
how do I change the default ltype & color when solprofing
Thanks man really helped
Thanks from heart 🤩
Cheers!
Thank you so much awesome channel
Thanks!
Glad you like the videos, and thanks for the comment

my problems is with my hatches like AR-CONC and EARTH and BRICK only showing up as solids when convert my DWG to PDF or zoom out when i am drawing
Delete existing hatch then rehatch.
you solved my trouble perfectly, thx so much!!! :)
my problem was the linetype was not showing in the layouts when i want to print the paper what could be the problem
Well done. Thanks
Thanks for watching! Glad I could help
Linetypes and labels show up fine in model space, but they don't show up in paper space. I have already tried viewport scaling trick but no luck so far.
Thanks for your tutorial but it works fine in model space but then changes in paper space. Still can't work that one out.
Mu line thickness shows properly on screen... but when printing it does not as shown in screen
The first word is My not Mu
Thank you that really helped.
Thanks
IS THERE ASOLUTION FOR LINETYPE W/TEXT UPSIDE DOWN
Draw the lines from left to right.
2:38 doesnt work for me
Lts works in autocad but when it turns to pdf it doesn't show any change
Success! Thanks again!!
Very helpful. Thanks.
Thanks!! Problem solved...
Happy to help
I still have an issue: I can see the dashed line in my drawing the way I need it. But, when I sent to plot it prints continuous.
I usually run into that when I am going to a layout through a viewport (which changes scale)
fiddle with the LTS in the paperspace
My line type scale automatically changes while I am working, I am working on H-20; V-5 and line type scale should be 1
thank you

Hello,
I find this Question in Exam and I want the correct answer.
Question: In line types, which of the following is used to generate a space?

thanks bro
Veeeery Helpful
My problem solved, thank u:))
Thank you !!!!
Awesome!!
The Words " DWH" appear above the line dash and not mid-way thru.
Should be "---DWH---" , not "____DWH___"

lINE TYPE TEXT IS TOO SMALL
Another thing is that the line you are dealing with is in fact.. a line... and not a polyline. That is what I have encountered.
Thank you so much sir!
You're welcome!
