      The only time I remember the Doctor shooting someone during the Moffat era was when the 12th Doctor shot the General to save Clara. But that was literally the point of the whole episode..and the season arc infact, that his relationship with Clara was driving him to take uncharacteristically extreme actions, just to keep her alive.
      Also, the General was a timelord who literally regenerated on the spot, so i don't think it should technically count.

    • @Irrev77
      @Irrev77 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Technically it still doesn't reveal anything we didn't know before. We still know extremely little about The Doctor's childhood and their past up until we see them in An Unearthly Child. Then The Timeless Children comes in and canonizes the Morbius Doctors and adds an entirely new mystery. What is this other universe and planet The Doctor actually comes from? Who is the Fugitive Doctor and where do they place in the many lives of the character? What is The Division? While I would've much preferred the twist to be The Master instead, saying it ruins the canon we all knew beforehand is simply untrue. I hope the arc continues on to be genuinely good. Time will tell.

      En Riz I’d say the problem is you can never tell. With these guys they aren’t in a position where they can say their honest opinion if its NOT positive. Imagine the field day articles would have if any previous Doctor Who’s or showrunners said they don’t like jodie as 13 (actually I think someone has had that field day). Doesn’t matter how they word it news article will print in big blacl “X doesn’t like that the Doctor isn’t a white Male”. We all live in an age where its so easy for all the social pressures to control our behavior, actions, and even words. And we’ve let it and most of us continue along with the idea. We no longer let people even ENTERTAIN ideas we don’t like. These former actors and showrunners have still have a career and social life they can’t let be ruined by one honest opinion, so most of the time they’ll choose their words carefully and probably just say what they think people WANT to hear. Usually something positive and in support. On a side note this mindset is VERY dangerous. We’re inching closer and closer to Fahrenheit 451 and looking at stagnating our own growth by being afraid to speak our honest opinions. The show isn’t going to improve if all the big shots are too afraid to attack it.

    • @vullord666
      @vullord666 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      UltimateKyuubiFox I actually completely agree and that’s an issue in of itself. 13 is written horribly for a Doctor. For her acting I really can’t tell with how badly she’s written. The new Master and Ruth on the other hand are actually pretty amazing character wise and acting wise. Like does Chibnall WANT us to see how bad he wrote 13?

      Theoretically, The Doctor could be from an alternate universe where humans advanced scientific knowledge so much that they invented the ability to regenerate. After falling through a hole in spacetime, they are found in our universe and the Time Lords gene-splice the ability for themselves. They proceed to erase The Doctor's memory after whatever the Fugitive Doctor did and force them back into being a child to live a life as a proper Time Lord.

    Canon does count in a tv show as if it didn't then it makes the past series that have come before completely irrelevant. For example Missy being killed off but now miraculously still being alive, this needs some explanation or did the master regenerate into this new master, perhaps Missy is a further along regeneration, that would make sense. Simply put some story arcs need explaining. River Song died in the library in Tennants era, but a few series later we finally got to see her timelapse with the 11th and 12th Doctors.we also got an explanation of how the movie Doctor became the war Doctor and saving of gallefrey. We got to find out why and how Clara was living and dying all the time. Every new development must be explained eventually. The new master, the ruth Doctor, the timeless child story arcs need to fit and need explaining, without compromising wat has come before in Doctor Who history. As for the 12 regenerations we now know this can be overturned if granted more regeneration energy, so this rule now has a plausible narrative of how to get passed this issue. Basically put add to the show, not take away from it. Make the story arcs fit into place.

      Complaining about canon is just a sophisticated way of saying I don't like this change, which a valid opinion. • @vullord666
    @vullord666 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I’m looking through the other comments saying Moffat is praising Chibnall, but I have to say I take this with a grain of salt. Imagine for a moment what would happen if Moffat said anything bad about Chibnall’s era (and it is honestly God Awful. If for whatever reason you like the 1 dimensional characters, boring episodes, lack of total substance, and inconsistencies than you still have to factually admit that Chibnall has created more plot holes and undone more previous writers works in one series than any other show runner). There would be backlash from the media, the bbc would be hurt (making their relationship negative and I’m sure he probably still works with them), and hell they’d probably even spin it to be about 13 being female because the media does that. People like Moffat (anyone in a position of popularity or power or both) simply CANNOT give their honest opinions because the whole world is looking at them for a story or slip up. Its like when Peter Capaldi said Jodie was his favorite Doctor. We haven’t even seen her much yet; he was just being nice and keeping up appearances so the show doesn’t get hurt. Moffat may actually be okay with Chibnall’s utter shit or he may not care at all anymore or maybe he absolutely despises it; it doesn’t matter because when someone asks in public he’s going to have to praise it. Its a bit like politics (or literally is politics). A Republican or Democrat has to be VERY brave to talk shit about a republican or democratic president (respectively) because that makes their party look bad which in turn makes them look bad.

So the Doctor is still a member of the Time Lord caste, although that is pretty irrelevant since the entire system collapsed with the rest of the sociaty. When you look deeper into the EU and extrapolate from there you come up with quite a dystopian picture of Gallifreyan sociaty.

    BBCSW: Look will you just shut up. Everything's alright. If WE say its alright and the Radio Times says it's alright, it's alright. No one will know any different.
    BBCSW: We spent ages working on that thing. And waited ages to do it too. We could have put it on display. 60 years old that would have been and all you can do is go on about what other people are going to say.
    BBCSW: Look we've got other work to worry about and these people here..
    RT: Hi! Can we just ask one question?
    BBCSW1: If it's the one we agreed earlier!
    BBCSW2 (whispering): You've got to hold your nerve. This won't last forever. We got away with HIGH CAMP DRACULA and we're still getting those phone calls at three in the morning about Sherlock and the last episode not making sense. Look, they're not going to ask us back and I was so damned tired of the thing. A Vauxhall Labrador is far less trouble. It barely got past the MOT and that OTT Welsh bloke didn't want it back just yet anyway. Something that precious is just too much responsibility.

    Policeman: Excuse me Sirs. Are you the registered owners of the vehicle just found there over that cliff there?
    BBCSW2: Its changed hands. Just recently. All the papers are correct. Officially authorised.
    BBCSW1: What about the driver?
    Policeman: He's doing surprisingly well. More confused than anything. Its more the people around the crash that were a concern. Public Order concerns. This is your responsibility. There was a very large angry mob trying to drag him from the vehicle. Everybody else was just trying to look away, pretending it wasn't happening. Like it's all they could do.
