- In this video I'm pouring a sky with clouds. Using my cloud mix recipe, I try going in a different direction than usual. Instead of creating 1 huge cloud, I wanted a sky with plenty of them. I freakin' love it.
Products used:
- 36"x24" canvas
Grey base is 2 mixtures of:
- Amsterdam white
- DecoArt white
- Black in I'm not sure what (doesn't really matter anyway)
Clouds
- Liquitex basics in magenta and pthalo blue
- Liquitex pouring medium in all my paints (just a tad)
- Water to consistency
- Cloud mix : 50% Artist Loft flow acrylic in white
50% DecoArt satin enamels in white

I don't know how I missed this video because I watched every single one of yours but this is the coolest thing I've ever seen!!! I've used your cloud mix before in other ways but to actually make clouds with the cloud pour just makes sense right, lol I'm scared to try it but at the same time I really want to. I absolutely loved this one. I could have watched you for 2 more hours. You certainly captured the clouds and created your own more beautiful ones. I look at the clouds every day probably 20 times a day. I will actually go out to specifically to look at them, admire them, appreciate their beauty and develop a way to recreate them. I didn't start appreciating them fully until I started painting. It's funny how, now, I see things thru different eyes than I did before. So Mel thank you for developing this amazing method. I would have tried it tonight but I'm out of PM. You are very talented!!!!

When you started with little circles I thought you were nuts. Or I was looking at it wrong. I love how it finished and I have watched a lot of cloud pour video’s trying to learn how to do this. Getting DecoArt Satin Enamel in White is so far not possible where I live but I will find it. When you say just a tad, how much is this?

Mely, was it you who found the Satin Enamel to use in pouring? I learned so much from you and I love your style as well as your unconventional way to work! You are a great artist! Thank you for sharing tips and tricks!
I find it awesome that you use your brushes to retouch your paintings. I am from Europe and I was a Photographer there. We had to retouch our negatives and also the photographs, that was 40 Years ago!. So I can use my skills again! Lol!

Have you ever tried white enamel Spray paint? It made a beautiful sky for me with other colors

MeliD I love all that you do and want to try it so much but I can’t get DecoArt or Milk Paint anywhere. I have tried the Bear paint and it just doesn’t work well for me. If you know where I can get the paints for the cloud pour I would love you forever. I am in San Diego CA but have tried every Co or paint Co etc but can’t find anything. I am so far at a loss. Even Amazon does not have it. This painting is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing

Fun! Are you using about half satin enamel with regular artist loft white to get clouds?
do these 'clouds' have a different raised texture than the painted parts?
Loved this video so much I decided to try it. I wanted to to the reverse of what you did and go with the Smokey Grey Satin Enamel for my Clouds. Guess what !! Check out DecoArts website. I think they are discontinuing the Satin Enamels!!! I there another product out there that does the same thing?

My eyeballs enjoying! MelyD I've been obsessed with cloud pours living in Hawaii where I get shows all day and night. Have followed you and appreciate your art! Problem is getting the satin enamal by Deco art. I've been experimenting with Behr satin enamal with no luck. Any chance you want to try that and see if we can save some money and get results?
Well if its not working for you I'm not sure how it could work for me. I know its hard to get... its worse in Canada because DecoArt is American and they don't ship here from their website. Have you tried writing to them?
@@MelyDartist crazy that last night I was able to order 2 from Michael's. Cost me 22.00 to ship so that was a bitch but it's a hobby...I've played with Behr trying to find a recipe and will let you know! I've down the artist loft white, Floetrol, adding liquitex, adding gac800, so far it's still mealy. If you get to the point you need some decoart shout me out and I'll ship it up if I can get my hands on more. You can just pay for shipping up to you! I'll treat on the paint!
As the satin enamel is not available, what you suggest to use for cloud mix Mely?
Would satin enamel house paint samples work at all? (They’re so cheap from home improvement store!)
When you use artist loft pouring paint, do you thin it? With water?
I use the artist loft flow acrylic and its very thick. I add a little pouring medium and water to consistency.
Hi there! Love your work! Am having no luck at all finding the satin enamel paint that’s in your cloud recipe... apparently the manufacturer have discontinued it :( any ideas what I could use instead?! Thanks :)
I just found it at Michael's a couple weeks ago. Hopefully that wasn't the last bottle..

I just saw a polar bear ! His black nose and mouth n one eye. Well you killed the bear. That satin enamel has not done a thing for me and i have followed a many mixtures to the T ! With no results .
