What makes this rendition more eerie to me is this is very much a product of the late 90s/early 2000s. This was playing during such a tremendous disaster where people were falling to their deaths and they were literally listening to this during their final moments. It went lost and unknown for 20+ years. The history behind this song is insane
I hope someone out there stumbles across this one day not knowing the by chance pain associated with it. And if you are that someone, leave well enough alone. You will never be able to know this song the same ever again.
The video of this song playing in the plaza is heartbreaking in a way that no other 9/11 footage is. To me Billy Joel always felt like one of those artists that defined the heart and soul of 20th century America. And to hear such a mellow rendition of this song among all the chaos… it felt like the world we knew was saying goodbye one last time.
Gosh clicking on this reminds me so much of the video of that dreadful day looking out from under the canopy whilst this played and debris and bodies rained down 🥺
@@lioninguccisuitI'd say it is, the Titanic was just a freak accident while 9/11 was a deliberate attack, so all these people in the towers were essentially murdered
As for this music, it's like a mix of "depressing/sad" nostalgia (even though i've never heard of this piece before), eerieness because of the key change at 0:55 to 1:27, and all of that in the context of it playing at the WTC plaza while the towers burn and people fall to their fates just haunts my soul. I wasn't born to witness 9/11, I was only born 6 years after the tragedy in 2007 AND I was born in the UK and still living here. However, I can recall having a clear vision or dream about the USA in some sort of link to this, I was like 4 at the time I think, this was around 2011? though I was only an extremely young toddler at the time, I remember it so vividly. Nowadays, In the past 10 months - I've grown this odd curiousity out of thin air to understand fully what's happened on that september morning, I don't know what it is that's sparked my interest so much but the whole link from me knowing something about the US back in 2011 as a clueless child and thinking about it growing up ever since has always given me the worries. Any conspiracies?
Conspiracies? Bro I never touched 911 content coz there has ALWAYS been conspiracies. It's only when I watched these first person perspectives of the events that I learned the side of it that gets suppressed. All I can say is , people only use 911 as an excuse to be racist and islamophobic, so it's hard to find good sources to learn. There are conspiracies but you'd need to learn history pre 911 and post 911.
The 9/11 attacks happened largely because the islamic leader Osama Bin Laden felt that the American military in Saudi Arabia invaded on islamic territory, and because he disliked America's support of Israel. This made him plan out a series of attacks on America as a form of revenge, and this was carried out by a group of islamic terrorists who hijacked several planes by storming the cockpits and killing the pilots. Airports before 9/11 had extremely relaxed security compared to today, and they essentially only involved very quick scans with metal detectors (the travellers didn't even need to take off their shoes or jackets or anything), as well as brief checks for actual weapons (in other words, guns, bombs and that kind of stuff), so it was very common for travellers to only spend a few seconds at the security checks, some airports even did _sample_ checks, where they picked random travellers! The terrorists brought box cutters onto the planes, which were actually allowed as hand baggage back then, and cockpits back then were typically unlocked, and sometimes even visibly open, so the terrorists could easily enter the cockpits. Also, the TSA didn't exist back then; the security personnel consisted of hired people from various companies.
Fact: After the towers colapse only 2 - 4 speakers stills working and still playing music like 2 hours more. This is the song played after the towers collapse but the true final song played was "Till There Was You" this:th-cam.com/video/XWBwMgQn10k/w-d-xo.html
She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes And she can ruin your faith with her casual lies And she only reveals what she wants you to see She hides like a child but she's always a woman to me She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you She can ask for the truth but she'll never believe you And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free Yeah, she steals like a thief, but she's always a woman to me Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, and she never gives out and she never gives in She just changes her mind And she'll promise you more than the garden of Eden Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while you're bleeding But she'll bring out the best and the worst you can be Blame it all on yourself 'cause she's always a woman to me Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants She's ahead of her time Oh, and she never gives out and she never gives in She just changes her mind She is frequently kind and she's suddenly cruel But she can do as she pleases, she's nobody's fool And she can't be convicted, she's earned her degree And the most she will do is throw shadows at you But she's always a woman to me Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm

not even going to lie.. this probably hands down the most eeriest shit i’ve ever heard that can’t top any horror movie theme. it’s the fact that it’s purpose wasn’t even to be scary at all, but knowing people fell to their deaths and there is a handful of people that possibly where Conscious and this is the last thing they ever heard… beyond horrible. it’s the realism and the fact that this even happened that’s terrifying to me.
This and the rest of songs of the plaza have a very strong eerie aura, it was still playing like nothing happens and probably the last thing jumpers heard before touching the ground...
If you're interested in 9/11 there are a couple of good TH-cam channels with incredible footage. There's a channel called "EnhancedWTCVideos" which has lots of high quality footage and there's another channel called "911AnalysisVideo" which uploads rare footage. I'm guessing it's more difficult to find information about 9/11 when you're searching in Japanese due to all the video titles and resources being written in English. So if you would like help finding information or footage, I could probably help you.
I'm sure most people came here after seeing the footage of someone in the plaza panning up at the towers with this exact song playing in the background during the event.
I remember being at the WTC) I am 9 years old and my father and I go up to the observatory and admire New York, it was 2 weeks before the terrorist attack, we also saw how the first and second aircraft crashed into the tower
Thx for the song! , I think this one totally represents that sad day, in memory for those who died and listened this song in that devil morning.... I wish in the other life they have great life and no terrorist bad luck and if they can hear I beautiful song that wouldn't represent that day
I’ve watched some of the footage many times already as the years have passed and I never thought I would ever know the name of this song playing in some of that footage, I’m greatly thankful for being able to listen to this in its entirety.
I think that this song is for 9/11 the same that nearer my god to thee for the titanic. Truly a beautiful piece of music that accompanies a terrible tragedy.
While listening to this, I can’t help but imagine a similar moment in the Bonaire shopping center in Valencia while the water was flooding in last October 29th. It’s surreal, almost haunting, how the calm music contrasts with the chaos and danger.
Years ago I was researching footage of 9/11 and came across Jack Talliercios video he shot in the Plaza right after the attacks and heard this song playing in the background. It was a shocking contrast between this beautiful Billy Joel song and all Hell that was taking place. She's Always A Woman was and still is favorite song but I can't help but remember the awful events of that day.
I have a weird new habit... I doubt anyone's gonna see this comment or pay much mind to it, but whenever something in life upsets me, like the loss of a friendship, work stress, or unrequited love, I come back to 9/11 content. I don't know why, but it always motivates me to try to live my life in ways that I still can instead of staying stuck on what I can't have. I guess it's because I think of all the people who suddenly had their lives taken from them so suddenly. Yeah.

I guess I’ll never know
What if I tell you, in your previous life, you were one of the plane hijackers and that's why you're so interested in 9/11 and randomly humming this song for no reason.

Well it wasn’t their own versions, it was Muzak, or “elevator music” it played in other places, but yeah, I could never hear any of these and think of anything else
@@mizalcor Ah fair enough. I assumed this version was made for the WTC plaza. Fair enough.
I'm glad I'm not the only person who was intrigued by this when it was first aired. It's still eerily comforting hearing it now, but the way i felt back then was, life goes on? Everything is broken, but the music still works? Idk just a few things i remember thinking back then. Thanks for finding this.
I have thought the same thing
Wait, they aired footage filmed from the plaza while the towers stood but burned?? I wasn't born then, sorry.
This was playing during such a tremendous disaster where people were falling to their deaths and they were literally listening to this during their final moments. It went lost and unknown for 20+ years. The history behind this song is insane
In every tragedy, the music keeps playing, and I find that symbolic in a way. Signifying that we can still go on even if we are broken by sadness.
I hope someone out there stumbles across this one day not knowing the by chance pain associated with it.
And if you are that someone, leave well enough alone. You will never be able to know this song the same ever again.
Incredible you guys found it! It’s eerily gorgeous.
Gosh clicking on this reminds me so much of the video of that dreadful day looking out from under the canopy whilst this played and debris and bodies rained down 🥺
It's like listening to the band play the final song on Titanic before the lights go out and the ship breaks apart
i feel like WTC story is way worse than Titanic, even if we can't compare because we only die once.
@@lioninguccisuitI'd say it is, the Titanic was just a freak accident while 9/11 was a deliberate attack, so all these people in the towers were essentially murdered
Thank you for creating this channel. It’s great to have all of the plaza music in one place in HD.
Airports before 9/11 had extremely relaxed security compared to today, and they essentially only involved very quick scans with metal detectors (the travellers didn't even need to take off their shoes or jackets or anything), as well as brief checks for actual weapons (in other words, guns, bombs and that kind of stuff), so it was very common for travellers to only spend a few seconds at the security checks,
some airports even did _sample_ checks, where they picked random travellers!
The terrorists brought box cutters onto the planes, which were actually allowed as hand baggage back then, and cockpits back then were typically unlocked, and sometimes even visibly open, so the terrorists could easily enter the cockpits.
Also, the TSA didn't exist back then;
the security personnel consisted of hired people from various companies.
My kids always pointed out how haunting and creepy this music was after everything that happened😢
It gives chills in the worst way possible.
0:48 made be cry.
Fact: After the towers colapse only 2 - 4 speakers stills working and still playing music like 2 hours more. This is the song played after the towers collapse but the true final song played was "Till There Was You" this:th-cam.com/video/XWBwMgQn10k/w-d-xo.html

the complex lost power when the south tower collapsed
She can kill with a smile, she can wound with her eyes
And she can ruin your faith with her casual lies
And she only reveals what she wants you to see
She hides like a child but she's always a woman to me
She can lead you to love, she can take you or leave you
She can ask for the truth but she'll never believe you
And she'll take what you give her as long as it's free
Yeah, she steals like a thief, but she's always a woman to me
Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out and she never gives in
She just changes her mind
And she'll promise you more than the garden of Eden
Then she'll carelessly cut you and laugh while you're bleeding
But she'll bring out the best and the worst you can be
Blame it all on yourself 'cause she's always a woman to me
Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm
Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Oh, she takes care of herself, she can wait if she wants
She's ahead of her time
Oh, and she never gives out and she never gives in
She just changes her mind
She is frequently kind and she's suddenly cruel
But she can do as she pleases, she's nobody's fool
And she can't be convicted, she's earned her degree
And the most she will do is throw shadows at you
But she's always a woman to me
Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm
Mmm-mmm, mmm-mmm-mmm-mmm
Still ridiculous that theese songs were on autoplay while the towers were struck and collapsed over time
It actually makes things more grim
Bc nobody was expecting to die
Almost nobody ever is
Especially those in N/S wtc
For honour my fallen brothers and sisters
May we carry your names through life untill the end of time for all.
The end of an era.....
officially the end of the nineties...
Its oddly poetic to have had this song playing during 9/11 while the buildings were burning, like how would the power to the speakers stay on?
World trade centre was a complex with several other buildings.
Both towers on fire while this song is playing
That's sad
not even going to lie.. this probably hands down the most eeriest shit i’ve ever heard that can’t top any horror movie theme. it’s the fact that it’s purpose wasn’t even to be scary at all, but knowing people fell to their deaths and there is a handful of people that possibly where Conscious and this is the last thing they ever heard… beyond horrible. it’s the realism and the fact that this even happened that’s terrifying to me.
*This Song last time played 9.59 AM September 11 2001...*

So if you would like help finding information or footage, I could probably help you.

love the old trade centre logo with the 2 towers !!
This song gives me a feeling I never had.
A beutiful song in a worst moment of world....
I'm sure most people came here after seeing the footage of someone in the plaza panning up at the towers with this exact song playing in the background during the event.
Pretty dark. Even captures the somber feeling
I wish in the other life they have great life and no terrorist bad luck and if they can hear I beautiful song that wouldn't represent that day
Quien no ha visto ese tenebroso vídeo en donde esta misma melodía persiste aún mientras las torres humeantes ya se caían a pedazos?

I can't get the sound of debris and bodies hitting the floor out of my head when I listen to this.
I’ve watched some of the footage many times already as the years have passed and I never thought I would ever know the name of this song playing in some of that footage, I’m greatly thankful for being able to listen to this in its entirety.
i’m obsessed with this track
This was the last song played before the tower 2 colapse ☹️
I think that this song is for 9/11 the same that nearer my god to thee for the titanic. Truly a beautiful piece of music that accompanies a terrible tragedy.
While listening to this, I can’t help but imagine a similar moment in the Bonaire shopping center in Valencia while the water was flooding in last October 29th. It’s surreal, almost haunting, how the calm music contrasts with the chaos and danger.
this is just so creepy like even with out knowing what happened...
I think it sound’s beutiful
@@timothyma3135he just finds it creepy since this song was playing after both towers were hit by the planes
this banger was playing meanwhile people were banging their heads to the ground from fall damage
And the fact this song is playing on the plaza during 911 just chills down my spine
Honestly this is the best version of she’s always a woman
The body slam still haunts me 😢
truly magnificent
I have a weird new habit... I doubt anyone's gonna see this comment or pay much mind to it, but whenever something in life upsets me, like the loss of a friendship, work stress, or unrequited love, I come back to 9/11 content. I don't know why, but it always motivates me to try to live my life in ways that I still can instead of staying stuck on what I can't have. I guess it's because I think of all the people who suddenly had their lives taken from them so suddenly. Yeah.
Here is your hope returned, someone saw the comment....
