One thing I respect about you is you have the money to buy the best of the best . But you know your viewers and most aren’t wealthy but love being off-road . You take parts most wouldn’t even think of using and make it work . Great job brother
I really appreciate it, man 🙏. However, I don't have the money to get the best, lol. I do, however, have the leverage to ask companies for the best. But I don't want to use tools or parts that are inaccessible to the average Joe unless I have to. I relate way more to gear heads than influencers because I dug trenches in the rain for a living before this TH-cam thing 😁. For that reason, I want to always build in a way that your average blue collar dude like me can relate to. Thanks for the positive comment, brother 🙌. It means more than you know...
@@DirtLifestyle that make 100% sense things are not always as they see on a screen . That shows true character and honesty to your followers keep being yourself don’t let them corrupt you .
Digin' the build! Hydrate in the heat and don't stroke out on us 😮
I think you may overestimate YT income. My man ain't broke but he's not about to star on Cribs either. Buy some merch if you can and help our boy buy truck parts!
@@DirtLifestyle theres a dana 60, 1650 wide , mm.. i think. its in my h/boy, with a front, cut 3'' h/p. d44 to keep the stock width of a std d44 with 5 stud. not 8 stud. basically a shortened h/d d44 , 8 stud.. the rear d60, needs 4'' , to be same width. 2'' per side.. a d60 can be upgraded to a 70. same housing.. but. the chev diff does the job.. which, we dont have in aus.. we suk in aus.. i used a jeep d44 axle for the shorter d44.. 33.1/4'' ??.. mods are frowned on here.. so i cut my h/boy to swb, h/p.d44 locker, d60 lsd. 5 sp. 351c. 35,s. hitch front rear. . pulled mates 80 series, 95 toyota, out twice with my s/duty.. he,s amazed where this thing goes.. also have a 62 swb f100 4x4. fitted 352 fe..orig v8 292..why block.. has a 9''. think they were still d44 rear.?.its from susanville. ca.. ausie.. [ & a 73 chall 340. to boot..]... as soon as a mech knows you own a 4x4, & are over 50.. the price quadruples.. dont know why..??..
Glad you are able to get back to weekly videos, I have missed them. That said you take care of you your health is the most important thing
Thank you 🙌. I'm doing my best lol
Nate, absolutely love your style and willingness to go the extra mile on everything you do, including the extra effort it takes to take us all along the journey with you! Exciting times for you and your family! With that said, maybe not using a quilted welding cap and installing a ceiling fan or two would help keep you cool. Until next time, keep on trucking!😁
Thank you!
I think we're all glad to hear that you should be back to your normal video schedule soon....but i think we're all more happy to hear that you are almost settled into the new property!
Thank you for keeping the bed!!!
A. You’ve brought up what to do with the TJ, keep it the way it is and keep it relatable to the viewers. Not everyone can afford a sema build. We enjoyed seeing you out in something we can relate to.
B. The j10 build is sick to watch, my buddy had one half buried in the ground from sitting that I helped him get running again in a field then he had to move due to bad situations and it disappeared so we live vicariously through you watching this series.
C. Your impeccable knowledge and motivation to take what you have an work with it is commendable and is extremely motivating pressing the people watching to get in their garage and take the rigs they have sitting around and get them back in the woods, keep it relatable like you have been and the following will be consistent. I think you have figured this algorithm out without having to be a “HeY YoUtuBe” guy lol. Been watching you from the start because you are relatable, don’t loose that like the EGO off-road channels have. The decline in their view shows for itself. Job well done Nate.
Looks awesome with the bed on it!
Feel like a kid on Christmas! Been waiting years for this thing to be built.
Great catching up with ya at OE. The new shop is looking so awesome. Glad to see some progress on the dually!
Bro, you need a mini-split like one from Airspool. No HVAC tools required to hook the lines up to the unit and you can hook some solar panels up to it for when the sun is shining. Beats boiling your brain out there in a home made pizza oven. Thanks for another great video and try to stay hydrated.
I hope he does super wide step sliders like this truck’s spiritual cousin, 1950’s Power Wagons.
Whoa...lets talk about that axle rack in the barn. Damn thats a great idea.
So stoked for this build! As a South African now living in the states, all these Dana axles, 1 tons etc are all new to me so the info you’re sharing is 👌
Take care of yourself man! Looking forward to the regular videos again and seeing the shop morph even more! You’re doing a killer job!
Great video! Looking forward to seeing the build process on this one.
Hi Nate! Things are looking good, Man! Looking forward to following along on this truck project! Just make sure to take care of yourself along the way. You're a smart guy. Don't wind up in the hospital or worse.
I’d go with the stock bed. Love the look.
Add some mini splits to that space. I know it will not be efficient, but you will only use it when you're doing stuff for which you need PPE. I added one to my garage, and it made such a difference in my capabilities at 60 years old.
The perfect amount of explanation.
Thank you for sharing, always informative and intriguing 😊
I mean, it’s jeep! It’s just not THE Jeep 😂 but I love watching you build literally anything. That’s how you know you’re entertaining. Although I’m a Jeep guy, I like whatever you make!
you are an artist. i enjoy how you can visualize and build upon whatever you are doing as you go. i also like how you will chuck something that is not going optimally and begin again. inspiring, strong work. you are a good solid reference for anyone who wants to fabricate or modify. not many others will explain their choices in such detail and back up their words. no, this is not a love letter :D good job, dude!
Lol wow! Thank you for the huge compliment 🙌
1st... The property and shop look great. Huge improvement from your previous. I can only imagine how good it feels. Great accomplishment.
2nd... I'm so glad you stuck with the J10 bed and went with a dually setup. It's just a very cool look. I am a huge fan of dually trucks to begin with. This is going to be a cool truck.
😎👍
Hook a brake line with a schrader on the other end to your caliper. Fill with shop air to it to hold it to the rotor. Tap it around to center it in all directions to get your tabs tached and welded.
Dude!!! Will!! I guess I'll have to make time to watch this cool j 4x4 come about!!! ✌️
I think this is gonna be my favorite build you ever did.
You need a plasma table or an arc droid kind of thing! I'm sure you already wanted one, have wanted one for awhile, or have one in the works, but simple plate brackets are so quick and easy on a plaz table. If any of the CAD stuff is intimidating, I promise it's not. One can get as deep or simple as they want with the CAD, and it doesn't take long at all to get comfortable with it. Future you will thank you, I promise. Loving the new shop stuff, thanks Nate!
Dirt Reynolds is such a cool truck. I can’t wait to see where this build ends up.
Just cut & shut the diff housing & shorten the Dana 110.
Happy trails, Cowpoke
Great work super Nate..! I look forward to the rest of this build ..! Can't wait to see the end result ..!!
Were way up at 115-118* here in phx. I was out working on installing inner fender liners yesterday. Work for a hr, break, work for an hr, break. I hate the summers here in Az.
I noticed on the last video that you were contemplating bed exhaust options. You should consider routing it into your headache rack. I saw a farm truck on our way to Overland Expo PNW that had done it and thought it was awesome, and I believe it would fit this project so well.
Mr. Cool needs to sponsor your not dying
Take care Nate, remember family first ❤
Awesome build, can’t wait to see the finished product! Any concern of rocks getting stuck between the dually wheels and popping them?
Love your builds , you build like I do . But damn son I'm 58 living in Alabama. 93% humidity and 96° . Usually soaking wet by 9am😅
Go slow, to go fast Nate. Good and modestbamounts of food, a lot of rest (which makes you stronger) and one at a time. Enjoy!
HEAT HACK: take a shop vac, put a bunch of ice in the bin and the hose on the blower side. If you point the hose towards you or rig it up some way so that it goes up your shirt or something like that I imagine you would get cold while doing that work, maybe give it a try??
Have you done a tour of your tool boxes yet?
I know you have the newer large icon box, but what mechanics tools are you running?
Get rid of the dual wheels on the front, pull the adapters off, run standard wheels that matches the rear, you are not going to ever rotate, you will only need one spare to fit the front, the rears carry their own spare, the look will be cool
I see a swamp cooler in your near future.
Insulate that roof...
Nissan H260. 1.51" axle diameter.
Should use airbags instead of springs in the rear
9-10k pounds is a pipe dream! I'd bet money you'll be over 10k loaded. Truck probably won't come in much less than 9k empty
You need a full face forced air mask. It'll help keep you a lot cooler
Finally, someone who knows how to use brake tools. I cringe every time I see someone using a screwdriver and needle-nose pliers to remove brake springs.
You need some big fans.... maybe even a Big Ass Fan
Got a link for the fan??
What happened to your tacoma? Saw it crashed in the background of a video.
Nate you owe us a 50 min. video - hope you're aware of how starving we are for this :)
Lol, are your shirts on backward, or are they printed backward?
Wives/girlfriends who don't understand axle talk: "Who is Dana, and why is he obsessed with her rear end?"
!!!
🤘🤘🤘
By now you are great friends of the bank you are working with or someone has a silver spoon in the family. good ideas and should work as planned. I don't think your going to hit that high weight that you spoke of as when weighed up, should not be quite that heavy
Swamp cooler in the shop ?
Maybe one day lol. I'm trying to build trucks again...
Why don't you use air bags instead of coilovers?
This is VERY likely. There are a bunch of options for bags that replace the 2nd gen dodge coils. Because of the tight budget, this will be the starting point and I will see how it works 👍
a ton of your bodies heat leaves through the head and you got it capped with a diamond stitch leather durag or smth. no wonder youre not feeling good haha you aint cooling off right. of course youre gonna feel horrible when your noggin is capped n overheating
Perez Frank Garcia Michael Jones Cynthia
"I hope you enjoyed the video" he says
Brother, you've never made a video that wasn't entertaining, informative or both! It's gonna be an awesome build! I can't wait to see it come together!
Thank you for the huge praise, my friend 🙌. I'm lucky to have folks like you watching
I was driving on my way to church and got the notification of this video release and immediately pulled over to watch it…. Not really but I wanted to so badly.
Lol! The video can wait! But I appreciate the excitement 😁
Praise Jeepsus!
Nice
Dude same 😂
@DirtLifestyle Can't wait for the info on your wheels. Running KM3 37x12.50R17 on stock 6" wide steel dual wheels right now that are clearly to narrow for the tires, so I've been looking for an 8" wide solution for 37/38x13.50's that isn't $5,000 Fuels or KMC. Also hate the big wheel/rubberband tire junk so avoiding 20's/22's like the plague. The big duals life is a real challenge.
Tell me you have a problem without telling me you have a problem: *shows filled truck axle storage rack* 😊
Lol bro... the struggle is real 😁
Nate gotta take care of yourself man. As cool as the truck is your wife and kids are way cooler. Thanks for making rad videos and walking us through the project!
Thank you 🙏
The truck is awesome...that shop is downright amazing though. Keep up the grind man.
Thank you!
Heck yeah I'm so glad I get to be apart of this I get to learn so much thanks for all the time you put in to give us knowledge
I'm very happy that you feel this way 🤘. I want to focus a lot more on education and skills moving forward. Hopefully, everyone else feels the same way you do! 😆
@DirtLifestyle I believe a majority of the subscribers that have followed you for some years now see that and feel the same as me I'm hoping one day to build something and possibly come on a trip with you all because you only get so many in a lifetime thanks for all the dedication can't wait to see more builds in the perfect shop you have created.
A bucket of ice water big enough to lay your hands and forearms in. 5 minutes of submersion then elevate your arms above your head to let the cooled blood flow. You can knock 2 degrees off your body temperature with this.
That garage is turning out amazing, Nate. Marvelous work enviroment!
Thank you!
@DirtLifestyle a comfortable work space encourages brilliant ideas. I have a single bay shop that surely limits my creativity. I'm looking forward to see what you build out of the new place. Any update on the Tacoma?
I really enjoyed watching you build out your shop and improve the driveways, etc. It's life, man. Looking forward to watching the jeep build come together.
It’s nice how you focus on the actual facts instead of your personal opinion which is great for teaching us what you have learned over the years. Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it’s a huge reason why I love this channel.
As someone who does a watered down version of what youre doing at 40, in AZ, outside when its 118 degrees... Id recommend getting some electrolyte pills heavy in potassium if youre trying to avoid a massive coronary and maintain your workflow.
So glad you're going with the truck bed and not a flatbed
Heck of an intro!
Thank you! I was hoping someone would think it's cool 😎
Love it and can’t wait to see it on the trail. You were right to slow down and not ignore your body. Much rather see an extra video on the build than see a posting of you in the hospital. Much respect!!
Hey man I love the channel, but I’d really consider getting at least a cardiac stress test done. It sounds like you are having some exertional chest pain which can still be worrisome. Sorry not to be a nag I just work medical and have seen people younger than you have some gnarly heart attacks. But again love the channel
For that grinding room you should throw up a strip door they use for big industrial refrigerators/freezers then add blower motor to a vent from a cannabis grow. You'll get proper ventilation with that setup.
Are you keeping the bed? I like the bed on this way more than a flat bed :)
Yep!
You’re doing awesome Nate, keep on building 🤘😎
Thank you!!!
Why haven’t you been filming all the work you have been doing on your property? I feel like everyone was really interested in seeing the changes.
I had an idea for the bed where you make it like a k truck bed where it folds out to help get stuff out of the tall bed . Awesome job looking good
Shop is looking great. I can definitely relate to the heat, I work on Cat heavy equipment and it’s tough. Especially when age starts to show. Only advice I can give you is drink more water and more fans lol. Love the build, you keep giving me more ideas. Great videos.
Thank you for the words of encouragement 🙏. More fans are on the way 😎
Dude sometime in the future you need to build yourself a side-by-side... 😎
Love the content, Thank you for the knowledge!
I'm glad you enjoyed it 🤘
Suuweeet
Thanks for the axle shaft comparison, that was interesting. Sounds like a solid plan for the rear suspension. Air bags would be nice so you can soften the rear when not fully loaded - might not be in the budget now, but maybe make space to add them in the future? Oh, pull those blackberries (roots and all!) that are up against the shop now, before they get any bigger! I ignored some on the back of my shop and then I had to deal with the 10' vine that grew up through the corrugation and into my shop's interior...
Air bags are definitely on the "wants" list! They would be perfect for this truck. We will see how these springs perform...
Thanks for teaching us about stuff. 😊
Spray foam and ac the shop you wont regret it
Already my favorite build of the competition, keep up the hard work!
High 90's here too, be careful with the heat, it sneeks up on you. Got to think of the family. Building my dream shop now planning on some AC. Keep up the good work even geezers like me can learn something.
JEEP TRUCK!!
Love this truck and seeing it grow up
Dude be careful in this heat it'll sneak up on you as you've discovered! I've been slacking Easter and those liquid iv products to keep hydrated.
Also when it gets hot like this in the pnw my sleep pattern changes and I take a siesta during the hottest parts of the day. Then I end up chipping away on projects in the barn at night when it's a lot cooler.
Another good addition is a mini fridge stocked with cold beverages and get a really comfy canning chair for taking breaks.
Put a QR code up on screen to the votes rolling in.
Not slacking Easter...
Drinking water.
Great info here about the axle shafts and I'm really liking how Dirt Reynolds is coming along!
Please take care of yourself! Guys our age need to keep on top of that stuff. Have you thought about looking into some kind of cooling for the shop? even just a big fan in the ceiling would be better than nothing in there!
I’ve heard the Toyota fj80 axle is stronger then ford 9inch
Interesting. Stronger in what regard?
Great video, you don’t have a link for the OnX challenge onthis video
I do now. Thank you for the heads up 👊
U def need a swamp cooler out in that shop!!! Love the vids Nate. ❤
Thank you!
Growing up as a kid, dad had a 1966 1 ton dually jeep. After a lot of digging, it was an old army ambulance. Local jeep dealer said it was never built. I forgot, it was 4×4
HEY MATT, ITS ME, AUSTIN! I see you are having problems with heat in your new shop... I think a good and functional short side project would be to build a sort of PORTACOOL like thing its like a swamp cooler but on wheels so you can move it to where you need to cool down we use them in the hangers all the time here at fort Campbell... just thought this idea could help you and make a cool diy like vid for your channel... i hope u start feeling better and that the heat doesn't hurt you too much.
Porta cool or swamp coolers just dont work in Humidity. He would be better off with a Mini Split AC.
@scottstone4948 they work alot better than nothing at all yes I believe ac would be better but for short term use and for just working on stuff those are great also I was born and raised where he is and the humidity is really low there I'm stationed in Kentucky rn and even though humidity Is like 100% constantly tue Porta cool we got is fantastic
The newer dodge 2500s has a similar suspension design. I'd recommend getting those coils for the back of the truck. A lot of people swap those coils out. You may be able to snag a set if you find 14+ wagon coils theyll pull about 12" of travel as well.
I am stoked you went with a 14bolt on this build because I have also got a 14 bolt in a storage unit waiting to be fabbed up and installed on my 92 4runner. This build will be a big inspiration for mine. Awesome video as always!
Lovin watching this build man but good call on taking it easy in the heat. Health comes first take care of yourself man and stay hydrated
hey take care of yourself... keep cool, stay hydrated...
slow and steady wins the race...
but the shop looks great, and very cool project.
Yeah AMC did a good job building those trucks, but this week I kinda found out that you can kill an AMC v8 because my dad went hot roding around the neighborhood and killed it so now it needs a rebuild
"Hotroding" has claimed many engines over the years 😎
The rear main engine seal went out on the motor so it was pissing oil all over the ground and so now the bearings have to destroyed and possibly the cam, so I hope it's running for the 2025 orv season at silver Lake sand dunes
