  • Getting your old free hub off is not as easy as other videos make it look. Scoring and and O-Ring/groove may be keeping your hub from simply sliding off. This How-To video shows a trick using parts of your cassette to pop off the free hub without using damaging tools.
Shown is a SRAM Eagle NX cassette and a Bontrager Rapid Drive splined hub.

    BIG THANK YOU🙏🏼
This solved my problem. Truly genius and so smart to use already existing ”tools”.

Massively underrated video this, I’ve been having issues with my freehub, couldn’t find any videos that showed a simple way to remove it. This one told me everything I needed to know and stripped it down in minutes! 👍

Thank you sir!!! I was convinced that I missed some nut or something, because it was completely seized. But all it needed was this trick and two hammers. If using force does not work, you are not using enough force! You saved me a lot of time and money.

As I watched I thought, "There's no way this is going to work." How very wrong I was, it really works! I love TH-cam.

Had something similar with an XD, did the same thing, but instead of outward impact I just wiggled it while pulling out.

Let wd40 soak overnight and tried your method and I didn’t even have to try hard. It popped right off with the first pull

    Good idea.
I put on a new hub body, but took several goes.
Sometimes I seemed to tighten it too much so wouldn't spin, then the pins wouldn't connect just free spinning both directions.
Finally thinks it's good, test ride today.
    Any other tips?
