Spent a long time trying to get right arm width/stop a collapse, frustrating as i could do good right arm only swings/strikes!
But i was wrongly going for right arm width early and laterally, now resist and turn up more, works for me!
Latest lightbulb! bigger stronger slower muscles work against gravity ie up then throw up
Smaller weaker faster muscles ie hands arms rot cuff work with gravity ie throw down

    10 finger grip?

That is what he is using now. Will be looking into that.

Question for you Tony - I’ve been watching old Be Better Golf videos with you and the right hand focus has been a game changer. However I still seem to be finding a bit of a flat swing plane as I always have. I’m thinking maybe I need to feel a wider arc with my right side. What do you think? I’m a low single digit trying to break through to scratch or better. Thanks

@w7855 congrats on your current handicap! First, do you need to change it or is there a different part of your game, putting for example, that needs improvement? If you want to tweak it slightly, I do like the wider feel but I would want you to feel the right hand taking the club to the top of the backswing. Take a video of you doing right hand only swing and compare it to your normal swing, is there a difference? Hint: that is the final lesson in this mini series. Let me know. Thanks.

@@TonyLuczak I do think it’s the part of the game that will take me to the next level. When comparing myself to scratch and plus handicaps I know (quite a few from playing college golf) I’d say I’m in the 50th percentile of them in terms of putting and short irons and 75th+ when it comes to wedge game, chipping/pitching. 170 yards+ and especially the driver is where I see a huge difference. Mainly in consistency. I tend to turn flat, steepen in the downswing causing pulls and sometimes to make up for it dip my right shoulder and block it. Been my issue my whole life, granted it’s better than it’s been. Do you offer online lessons? Oddly enough I’m in Arizona and have access to some great instructors but your approach has always clicked for me. I remember making progress 5 years ago from your BBG series.

At one point you were trying to improve his posture at address. It looked like maybe he was sitting/squatting too much with the hips too far behind the ankles with the hips not tilted to the ball /shaft line enough. Which got the arms on top of the chest and reached out instead of hanging to the side and more under the shoulders. Is that what you saw off with his setup, or was it something else? With the width of arms from the body /chest at setup there was good width, so is reaching/stretching swinging back necessary? Shouldn't width maintain if the arms and chest move back at roughly the same time and speed? It kind of looked like during the down the line video period that he was trying to give the arms depth by trying to swing them away from him. but it looked like that caused his left arm to abduct across his chest and loose width between the hands/arms and chest/shoulders/head at the top. That resulted in the arms/hands having too far and not enough time to catch up with the body that had less time and distance to get from the top to impact. Is that what you think might have been happening to cause the less solid shots near the 2nd half / end?

Yes, the squat also makes it difficult to pivot through impact. He was folding his right arm too soon and was controlling the club more with his left arm. The exaggerated width was set to create earlier turn and better loading into the trail leg. Which would also change his side tilt. If the the chest controls the turn then the arms get too flat. Hand path is more vertical than shoulders.

I would also say fatigue was setting in.

Why do we wear the golf glove on the lead hand? Why not both hands? Thanks.

Not sure how it started. Gloves can reduce hand pressure due to increased friction. No reason not too.

Question from a fellow tall golfer. Are Taylor's clubs custom fit? if so, any added length? I am 6'6" am thinking about possibly adding extended length to my irons.

Yes, they are +2” and 3 degrees up.
