Hey Tom, your passion for firearms (especially Walthers, Lugers and Mausers), just shines through; your willingness to share information for free is truly endearing. I am a prospective Canadian firearms donor (to be rescued 😭😢 - sad) when the time finally, comes! Love your work and self-deprecating humor! Great job!
Always enjoy listening to you....never stop learning they say. There are 2 guys I cam listen to for hours . One is Legacy...the other is Craig Luther!! Thank you for inspiring and instructing!!!
I'm going over my ac 45 along with your video. The gun was nickel plated long before I bought it which ruins any collector value, but it still functions perfectly. Thanks for all the history information.
Watching this has me even more intrigued about my own P.38. I'll have to give it a closer look. The only thing I know is it's a war bring-back (my grandfather was a Canadian tanker during WW2) so its value is more sentimental than monetary. Provided big daddy government doesn't ban them outright **insert eyeroll here**. Definitely have me curious, though. :)
I have a 1941 made special order p38. Hp model, 99% high gloss, with no slide legend. 1941 dated eue converted p08 holster. WaA300, 2 mags and picture of my uncle holding it and bottle of cognac he found in the bunker in Germany. Have the bottle of cognac yet too. That's rare.
Awesome collection. First time I finally had the chance to shoot the legendary P38 at the range, after few shots I took Star Model B 9mm and it fit my hand so perfectly it completely stole the show...
I enjoyed the presentation and yes I used to cringe when you used to put the pistols on the glass desk top the rubber mat makes me stop the swift intake of breath Hehe
Smittys sporting goods in Missouri has one of these for sale. The barrel looks unfinished though, has milling steps on it. I almost got it but i don't know much about these.
Hi Tom, another dangerous law abiding Canadian here, enjoying your videos, as I have a collection of 20 P38s and a couple of Lugers,! I find it interesting that the late 0 series Spreewerk had the straight frame and the late ejector, keep up the good work, we all appreciate it!! FJT and FJB !!!
My God, this company has all kinds of models, and for all kinds of German government bodies, being a Nazi from Walther, Moser, and Luger, this is incredible, which means that the truth is that it is the most beautiful and valuable collection of classic weapons up to this day.
Apparently there is a website or two out there where the owner has a serial # list for the purpose of uniting the # mag back to its frame. I read in a gun forum the other day where a fellow used it and actually bought the matching mag for his gun from a fellow half way across the country. I think it was a Japanese pistol though but still quite a good thing.
Were there ever any 7XXXX 5-digit P38's? I have what are the supposed bringback papers for the P38 my grandfather acquired during WW2, but I could never find a reference to 5 digit serials that began with 7. I believe the final digit is a 2, not a series letter as one would expect. All I really know is that grandpa sold his P38 to a collector in the 1970's. He brought back a few other unknown pistols as well, so the paper may be for some .38 cal gun of another model.
Walther frame WERE NOT CASYED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ther were FORGED. I will sent the the war time engineering drawing for the forging if you are interested.
Muito obrigado pela oportunidade de conhecer seu trabalho e sua especialidade! Gostaria de lhe parabenizar também pelos exelentes vídeos e trabalho de historiador !
I have a what I believe to be p38 serial number 357 with 2 matching mags and holster, as well as some other period items. I would like to confirm my findings.
Future gun owners thank you for rescuing these guns from Canadian politicians. I’d like to hear more about what’s going on in Canada with firearms and the new rules.
Very interesting, I have an old P38 and I do believe the magazine matches the gun. Maybe both magazines match, and the original holster. If it’s matching, what is something like that worth? Great job, thanks for the video
Ac41 is just as important as an ac40. Eastern front and early war. 43,44,45 to me are common ones. And markings to me don't make up for one that was early made in 40,41.
Nothing like a P38 video to make me stand up and take notice. Do you test fire your merchandise upon receiving? I obtained a P38 Spreewerk bring back from my father and was told that some guns were boobytraped with filed down slides that would detach when fired harming the shooter. That was of course BS in hopes I would give the storyteller my artifact no questions asked so no one would be harmed. I go to the range every two months putting about a box though it every time. I know it lowers the value but it’s just so fun to shoot!
@@tomhenry897 I thought the '68 law was just a ban on smaller guns like the Walther PPK, which is why the PPK/s was made in order to be big enough to import.
So I came across one of these that has the 359 stamp on every part, but mismatched numbers on frame vs slide. Someone told me it isn't worth 200 dollars. Is this true?
"waffenamt" unlike the US military the germans handed out pistols to any soldier that wanted one. Filling that demand was mission impossible so they'd use pistols of all types from all over europe, occupied and some neutral imports aas well like Astras from Spain. I had a cyq that looked pretty normal. All blued and just a shooter. P:retty P-08! Lugars weren't produced after 1942. Both are 98%, 99% with only a tiny bit of holster ware on the lower back. The 1937 of course was a peace time handgun which gave the factory more time to complete the finishing work. I don't believe that S/42 was a factory code.
I noticed someone's sent me a reply to my comment on this post congratulating me and gifts 🎁 are a foot I don't believe it's you Tom but our friendly con merchant
$5/ month tax for a raffle (That you will never win) to legacy collectibles and this guy. I THINK NOT. HE SHOULD GIVE ALL HIS SUBS ON TH-cam FREE RAFFLE TICKETS.
It must be an amazing feeling when you are looking through a bunch of pistols and find a really special one!

My uncle. Ran over hundreds of hand guns in Germany after the war with a tank. He kept a few of them.
😥
@@zsolttalloczy5222 I concur
Understandable, have a nice 👍
The Germans were the good guys.

Omg! How on earth keep coming up that many beautiful collectibles???? Makes me cry in joy
Basically every gun in the country was liberated during and after the war.
A bunch of great examples of P38's right there. Good gosh~!

Those Lugers at the end are like an exquisite beefsteak, after a whole video on cheap pizza joints :D

Thanks so much for sharing these beautiful guns & their stories! Keep them great videos coming!
i still have the purple one i got from you like 10 years ago
Just love your videos. Love military weapons and history . Thank you 😊
Lovely video, but please slow down the waving around, so we can get to see something other than a blur of movement.
Thanks for explaining, Tom!
Did you ever get a look at a Lewis Automatic Rifle, and how many were actually produced?

I'd give my wife's eye teeth to be able to own one of those beautiful P 38s.
She needs them to listen to the radio. You`ve heard the eye tooth lore havn`t you.

I love your info on the rarities, my favorite is the dual tone,so cool
It's funny how I don't live that far from your shop. I'd love to get a good shooter from you one of these days. Thanks for sharing!
Here's an advice: send them to my home.
Cheers mate, awesome, great assortment of pistols.
Here in Spain everything is very restricted in terms of weapons, greetings.
I always enjoy your videos never can get enough even though I`m not a collector.
Always an outstanding video and presentation
I appreciate that

My pleasure!
I'm pretty mad these look better than my 1960 P38.
My friends grandfather took a P38 off of a dead German. The 2 magazines there were with it have matching serial numbers to the gun
Peter Patreon picked a peck of pickled P-38s!
I have a nice ac44 with holster and extra mag all numbers match. Shoots great!
Dang, I only have five P-38s and I thought I was a boss. These are great shooters; try one! --Old Guy
Casting flaw!
🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for the video Tom! 😁
You bet
great stuff tom

That would be nice to have if I were a collector.
❤P38
I have a zero series that has a magazine one digit off from the pistol. The pistols were together when the magazines were switched.
Beautiful guns thank you for showing them. What books do you recommend for research on P-38 and Luger pistols? Thanks again!
Круто как всегда.Завидую.

How do these guns come into the US without the ugly import marks? I have an ugly C.A.I. mark on my 100% Spreewerk.
Vets used to be allowed to pick them up off the battle field and bring them home up until the end of the Vietnam war.
Brought in before 68

EXCELLENT!!
I only have 4
Could you tell me why the front sight is a bit high on p38..i took a laser bore sight to mine and the front sight covers the target???
Just wow....

First question,answer- No, never have !
I have a P38 with a Nazi Swastika stamped on it. Does that add to the guns value? I didn't hear him mention anything about those.
Wish I had them
Maybe if you show that you have over 100 they become just a little less rare?
My God, how beautiful are these classic pistols of Walter Nazi Germany🛡️ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't care what the left says about us... these pistols are works of art and their historical significance is immeasurable.

P38s are sexy
Dump them to the bottom of the Sea. Although that’s not an Ecofriendly way to get rid of these guns.
Are you trying to rub off the finish with your white gloves.
I have never seen anyone paw at a gun like you do.

🇩🇪👏👏👏
What a huckster, selling a vip program like that.
You talk about GI assembled units. I bet there wasn't one out of 100,000 who could have assembled a P 38 out of the parts bins.
Used the factory workers
