    I appreciate many things about this channel and one of them is the fact that young, off gridders, get a tony taste of what it takes to work your property mostly by yourself. Lots of work and the road work is so far out of my skill set, it baffles my mind.

    I have to say that with your voice, that smashing little dozer and its big brother that you should make a couple of kids episodes featuring all the noises and simple action that is the charm of these machines... That and the beautiful backdrop coupled with your calm voice would be very popular I would guess...

    Marty, it looks like the old equipment that you salvaged, and repaired, is paying you back big time. You are a good operator, and mechanic. The equipment should serve you well for years. After you get your driveway to the correct dimensions, it will be easy to use the motor grader to keep it touched up. Great job, great video, and have a great day.

    Old equipment still doing a days work. Nice to see. Many people buy an old dozer or backhoe and work the crap out of it like they are factory fresh then get upset when they break a major,hard to find (if at all) and usually expensive used part. Slow and easy always wins.

    Amazing to me that such old equipment can still get the job done, I remembering seeing a North Korean TV documentary on them constructing some of the new skyscrapers in their city and most of their equipment is just a mashup of old Soviet 60s, 70s and 80s stuff from old diggers to dozers and loaders, but it got the job done.
    There cases in Russia were they still use 40 - 60 year old machines for anything, does the job quite nicely as long as they are well oiled and well maintained.

      I think people that know how old equipment works and know how to fix them and that live in remote areas should stay with the old stuff cuz there easy to fix you just need some special tools and if they braek down un like today's stuff you dont need a whole factory of people and equipment just ignore the broken thing and then you should pay like a million grand

    That bulldozer look like it was the first model that did not use steam, but it does the job. I am surprised at how well it works with that shallow blade. Its almost like a strong grader, it just needs the blade to tilt.

    • @dextermuir7882
      @dextermuir7882 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd need to go back a couple of decades for the last of steam. My Mum's Dad , 'Herb' Nickalls (my middle name, German spelling), in Ealing, Canterbury, NZ, was a pioneer in that change. A Diesel factory-trained Engineer, he fled the Kaiser's call-up for WW 1, as far as he could, and serviced the first Diesel-powered heavy machines (tractors, dozers, road-rollers etc plus stationaries (generators etc.)) In NZ's South Island (and a known identity nationally). Ealing railway station/depot was kept busy, and Herb's 'herbs', the strength of his serviced machines awaiting delivery, were a blessing to the rail in Winter. Ealing is at the north end of a steep cutting leading up from the Rangitata river, and the rail was prone to icing, stranding north-bound rail. Herb used his machines to haul rail: Herb's 'herbs'.['Herbs' is a colloquial for fuel or strength]

    Good job there Marty . Both the machines have paid for Thier work and maintenance ten times over they have saved you a small fortune so far . Excellent that you've brought them back to life and putting them back to work . Just as it should be instead of sitting in the ground unused and rusting away . That was the job i used to do in the eighties heavy construction and machine maintenance , was happy as a pig in the old brown stinking stuff up to the eyes in oil and grease , happy days then for sure . Repairing them where they stood in the middle of nowhere . Old saying by one of the old hands that had worked in Australia , doing road construction , he emigrated out there then came back to England . Before I write this , keep it clean fellas , his words of wisdom when we didnt have certain parts were . . When in the bush , , improvise , , so that's what had to be done to get the machines up and running again . Cobble them together until we got the parts sent out to us . . Keep up the excellent work excellent channel Marty , top man .

      In Canada you would have to get an environmental assessment which would never get passed with all the environment green people wanting to save all the trees so they can burn down later . If you own the property ,just go ahead and do what you want to do and beg for forgiveness later. If you own a property here ,just tell your neighbours what you are going to do and leave it at that
