I usually knit or crochet some gifts for Christmas. I always get super stressed about it because I wait too long to get started. This year, I don't think I'll have the time to make anything. If I do make anything, it will be a shadow knit blanket of a dinosaur for my daughter. She turned 10 this year and I thought to myself I better get that done while she still wants it, but considering she has loved dinosaurs all her life and still does, I think she will always enjoy this blanket.
We have a summer Christmas so clothing items not really an option but amigurumi and cushions and knitted flowers as bunting.... Hope we all have fun with our big plans 🥰
I knit blankets, scarfs & hats for the homeless, baby blankets for the sick babies, prayers shawls for the cancer & hospice patients. I have knitted a few things for my family and myself. I give you a lot of credit for knitting all those sweaters. I tried one sweater and now I have no idea on how to put it together & it took me a year to the knit it too. I am new to your channel so I can not wait to see if you finish everything you plan to give away as gifts. I work at Joann's and Big Twist is my favorite yarn. Good Luck in all your knitting.
I did the same thing for my grandma! She knitted all her kids and the grandkids stockings but never made herself one, so I found the same pattern from the 70’s on Etsy and made her one and her cat a mini one lol we have also have a new spouse and baby in the family I’d like to make one for 😊😊
I really liked your video. I think you are going to make it on time, I can't wait to see them done. I'm not a selfish knitter, nor a fast one and I have a big family. The result, I'm planning 16 pairs of socks and 10 harry potter's scarfs for gifts. 😅 Until now I have knitted 7 socks and I almost done with the scarf number 4. Luckily I'm meeting them on January so I have a bit more time. I'm from Argentina but I'm living in South Korea with my husband. I haven't seen my family in more than a year, so I enjoy the idea of giving them something made with love.
I love this. I started knitting Christmas gifts at the beginning of September. Last year,l definitely underestimated how long it would take last year when I started in November. I made a three hats, a sweater (baby sized), 7 pairs of vanilla socks, but didn’t finish everything I wanted to on time. So far, I have a scarf and mitten set done to go with a hat from last year and patterns for sweaters for my nephews (4 months and 2.5 years) a shawl, at least 2 pairs of socks, another set of mittens, and three hats 😵💫 it sounds crazy written out like that but I knit almost any time I sit still and have a surgery scheduled for early December that will leave me having to sit a LOT. Who knows, maybe I’ll add a couple things. I have stopped knitting for myself though. I’m finishing a sweater for myself but don’t plan to make anything for myself until after Christmas things are done
I rarely knit for others! I once knit one of my sons a hat (it was line weight and ribbed all over) and he lost it on the first day he had it. I've knit my daughters sweaters and they never wore them. Having said that... I am making my husband and each son a bandana cowl (purl soho pattern), one daughter is getting fingerless mitts and the other wants a Sophia Shawl... if I get that all done I might make this ear warmer thing that my MIL loves. I made her 3 or 4 of them years ago and she still has them and wears them all winter...so she is totally knitworthy!
i think its great that you knit for others for christmas. sadly I rarely do that because I live in Australia. nobody wants to get knits in the height of summer LOL
I have finished pair of fingerless/flip-top mittens - I'm going to knit one more pair. I'm also knitting a giraffe for my godson's first Christmas 😊. Once those are done I'm going to maybe make a couple headbands with the leftovers and start on my first sweater (for myself) ❤
Girl, you've got yourself some projects there in such a short time lol. I'm knitting & crocheting 2 wearables for me, knitted socks for mum and I'm also hoping to do some crocheted Xmas tree decorations. Good luck.
Well I am a major slacker. I am a crocheter and I am still deciding what I want to do. I am making my dad 2 dozen snowflakes, my sister a ear warmer and scarf, and my mom a cardigan, my niece a blanket and both my nieces a hat.
Well you're going to be extremely busy! I rarely knit anything for myself. I did knit 2 cable sweaters for my 1 yr old twin grandchildren, but mostly I knit socks. Lots and lots of socks. Plus I usually always have a couple of blankets going, both knit and crochet. Looking forward to seeing your fo's.
Your makes are inspiring. New to your channel and look forward to seeing more. Today I am starting a crochet unicorn from the Pica Pau book one. Next I will knit a sweater for my grand baby who will arrive in February. Then just some sweaters for me.
You're gift list is quite impressive! I'm terrible at selfish knitting, I somehow always find something to gift someone in my family or friend circle, so this Christmas season is really getting to me as well. I currently have 3 hats, 1 scarf, 2 cowls, 1 pair of socks, 1 stuffed animal and 1 top planned for Christmas, birthdays and a birth that are all happening around Christmas. It overwhelms me when I think about it too much, so I just try not to think about it really 😅 I'm sure I'll magically find the time somewhere!
I keep thinking I'm almost there and decide to add something else lol. I'm on jumper 4 of 4 - I'm doing the cuff on sleeve 1 so working on finishing sleeve 2. It won't be for Christmas but tempted to knit a jumper for the husband... Just need to figure out what - the Rockland is tempting. I've got two ideas to try and pull off for my friend's kids if I manage. One is crochet so is going to hopefully be easy to pick up and put down around other things. Right back to that sleeve! (and finishing my hot drink before bed)
Wow, you are ambitious! I don't like the stress of trying to finish gifts last minute so I try to space them out through the year. I knit a pair of socks for my husband, 3 kids, mom, dad and stepmom, along with a few other special people every year. I also knit a sweater for my daughter and sometimes one for my mom as well as the odd hat, cowl, and pair of mittens for those I think will appreciate them. I try to stagger all these with projects for myself through the year.
That is a very ambitious list! I don’t think I will be doing any gift knitting this year but I will be cheering you and all the other folks on. :) also I almost teared up when you talked about knitting the stockings to carry on for your grandmother. To me Christmas is all about tradition.
Love hearing all the plans people have for holiday gifting! I started my presents awhile ago cause I picked big projects and with being chronically ill I am not the fastest. I have finished an intricate amigurumi, am nearly finished with an embroidery piece and am a good chunk into a beaded shawl. Hoping to finish it all before the end of this month cause I need to send it out internationally. I think you should not feel badabout using yarn you got for cheap at all. The value of the yarn is still there and you add a whole lot of value by hand knitting a very personal and labour intensive knit!
Can't wait to see all your gift knits. I have a list of stuff I'm recording about today on gift knits. I hope I can get it all done as well! This is my favorite time of year and I love giving!!
Girl you must be a fast knitter! I only have four Christmas scarves done and I started in August LOL. Fingers crossed I can get a few more done in time!
I have 6 crochet bucket hats and 2 knitted scarves to do. I have completed majority of 3 bucket hats. I’ll probably add more to my list if I feel like knitting for my cousins. I can’t wait to see your progress. I know I will be making more baby beanies and blankets to donate in between on working on the things for Christmas.
Wow, you certainly have your work cut out for you! I am completely confident that you will finish all these projects by the 24th. You are the fastest knitter! We don't celebrate Christmas, so no knits for that. I have knit sweaters, socks and hats for everyone I know. Therefore, I really only do a couple of personal knits for myself every year--the rest are for charity. It was fun to see that you are using Knit Picks yarn for some projects. I love Knit Picks, especially Swish. I loved your shout out to your grandmother. Knitting is in my blood because of my grandmother.
Looking forward to seeing your progress - I think you’ll do it in time. You’ve got me thinking that I might do some handmade items this year too🤔. Happy Knitting 🧶
I would love to make things for my family for christmas, but I know, as a student and such, I will never be able to accomplish them. I might make hats or beanies, but never sweaters or cardigans! I would get too nervous if I messed up.
Oh wow....I only wish I could knit fast enough to start Christmas projects on November 1st! 4 sweaters? Stockings? Golly!! I'd have to start in March! However, I am looking forward to seeing your progress over the next few weeks. Loved the Steelers scarves (hey, I'm a PA transplant, so it's a given) and I'm totally stealing the brioche idea for my next scarf instead of fringe. As you said, it's totally impractical.
As I watched your video I was also working on some Christmas stockings because my grandmother (who also taught me to knit) also made everyone in the family a matching stocking and now we also have new family members without stockings and I am also the only knitter! lot's of also's in that sentence, but it was really fun to see you are doing the same thing. What pattern are you using? I am using an old Bernat Candle Stocking pattern from the 1950's.
I love your NFL scarf idea. I showed my husband and he wants one. I'm kind of a new knitter and I often struggle how much yarn to purchase....how much do you think you'll use for the steelers scarf? BTW I love your channel....I miss seeing Annie the cat appearances though! She's super cute and cuddly.
Aww, thanks! She's been hiding in her new favorite spot in the other room a lot lately, she's less interested in what I'm doing for the time being. I'm guessing I'll use 6 skeins of the Swish Worsted, but they're small skeins because it's wool. You could probably make a similarly sized scarf with 1 skein of each color of acrylic worsted, and it would be much more economical!
Oh I don't bother anymore. When I first started out knitting I picked out some yarn & patterns specific to people. They exchanged them with each other right after I gave them out. Mom told me at least they're happy & they'll actually use them now. They did not. Never once saw them worn. Plus had the experience of seeing everyone say oh I don't like this one much but I like that one. So nope. Ain't no one gettin shit from me.

i just love the first cardigan

I love your jumper, it’s adorable xxxxxxx

I’m definitely a selfish knitter! But keep us posted with your progress. You just may have changed me to a gift knitter!!
Just found you. Love the way you store your circular needles🙌👍😀
Wow, what a list! And I'm over here worrying I won't be able to finish the sweater I already started for my sister 😅

I love that you’re knitting stockings from a pattern your grab used. Very sweet.
Inspirational list i would never get through your list 🤣🤣🤣🤣 i be doing a cardi all year. Good luck with getting it all done 🧶 some great projects
Thanks! 🤞🏻
I absolutely love that shade of green for that cardigan. Absolutely beautiful 😍

I have no plans to gift knit. I like to give things in the fall so they have more time to ware them. I live northern Canada
I would love to make things for my family for christmas, but I know, as a student and such, I will never be able to accomplish them. I might make hats or beanies, but never sweaters or cardigans! I would get too nervous if I messed up.
Work up to it! It definitely took me years of knitting before I gifted a whole sweater.
Oh wow....I only wish I could knit fast enough to start Christmas projects on November 1st! 4 sweaters? Stockings? Golly!! I'd have to start in March! Truthfully, I probably should have started earlier... but I work best under pressure!
Wow, how funny! I'm not sure yet, she used a handful of patterns. I'm making a video on it, though, so stay tuned!
I love your NFL scarf idea. I showed my husband and he wants one. I'm kind of a new knitter and I often struggle how much yarn to purchase....how much do you think you'll use for the steelers scarf? Thank you very much!!
What’s your knitting style? Is it throwing, continental or something else?
English! I'm a thrower, it's how my grandma taught me 😊
@@the_copycat_stitch I knit that way too, but you knit so fast I thought it was a different technique.
Did you knit the sweater your wearing or did you buy it? Cause I want it 😍😍
It was a gift! It's store bought, though, you can probably find it out there!
No one really wants things I crochet so I’m selfish. Occasionally I’ll make something for someone though.
I’ve got an extensive Xmas knitting list. As usual. Do I finish it all? No. Do I finish anything? No. 🫣
