    That is exactly how it feels too! There is no sound no talking, just the water noise and your own heart pounding and your breaths quickening. It's pretty much the funnest and the scariest thing that most people will never do

    The entire video made my heart pound. Just imagining being in that situation, looking off into the murky water knowing ANYthing could suddenly appear out of nowhere. GOD, why do people do that? 💀 🦈

      Me too Janice! I found out that it's actually a phobia called thalassophobia- check it out- I definitely have it lol! It's weird, I'm fine in shallow, clear water when I'm snorkeling, but I have a sensor that starts alerting me when the water gets murky-

      @@peteyfly1 Interesting! Yeah, a friend once told me it was an innate, primal fear and it had a name - I think he said the fear of deep holes, though. Guess that’s included, whether or not it’s under water? It is innate, I think. When my son was a toddler and I put color tabs in to color the water, it creeped him out, and I knew why.
      Edit: Put color tabs into his bath water I should have said. 🙄

    I had no idea those shark shields work at that distance. Every time I've seen an interaction with the SS and a shark they usually get a lot closer before they feel the SS

    It's not the shark shield. It's eyeballs. Sharks don't attack if you spot them as they prefer the low risk hit and run ambush. The moment the diver saw it the shark turned.

      Yep, then it immediately circles around and gets behind you. So don't freak that you don't know where it is, because it will always be coming back behind you, the only question is, how big that circle will be.

    While Shark Shield can deter a shark from attacking, it won't do so every time. so your hoping its going to work weather it does or not is just by chance.

    Doesn't seem our visual range underwater can ever match that of a shark and knowing that a shark can clearly see you without you being able to see it makes these situations scary.

      They see poorly aswell i think an example of good vision in the ocean is the mantis shrimp … but they are never found in merky water …. Anything living in merky water like that relies on other senses

      @@redneckr.c8760 The situation is still unchanged. It seems we can't detect them around the same time as they can detect us. It's no wonder how they just materialize out of the blur coming to check us out. They've already know you are there and they came in for a closer look. And us humans have no way to match or counter this while we're in their environment.

      Sharks are relatively lacking in the vision category, which explains so many "mistaken identity" attacks. However their *other* senses are what makes them such able predators. You ain't hiding from a shark, that's for sure. It may not see you but it'll feel/smell that you're there.

      Have seen this many times with divers with no shield. Sharks are sneaky bastards that mostly ambush unsuspecting prey for a hit and run. They hate taking chances so if you spot them they turn and find easier prey.

      I'd honestly just paint eyes on all sides of my head as sharks don't like to be spotted before they attack, much like other ambush predators like the tiger.

      Thr shark shield is meant to be on while ever in the water. It does not affect other fish - only sharks feel the pulses it makes.

      That actually happened to my dad and his diving buddy in the 70s, abalone diving around Santa Cruz ca, went down, got an ab, turned up to ascend, saw the outline of a shark swimming overhead. He said he shot up and got into his diveboard and called it a day!

    I heard the shark shield attract the sharks, and can repel them when they get close - also heard that can not stop them. I think I prefer not to use one.

    These are everywhere here in summer and come in extremely close to shore they not much interested in humans just hanging around stealing my bait just at the back of the surf, they get quite big as well. Once they steal your bait you have to move on or they will happily take every bait you cast and don’t seem to mind having a mouth full of hooks (the hooks fall out after a week or so anyway)
