$50k conversion * ~1,000,000 homes that need to be converted = $50 billion. The state wants this to be done by 2035, 10 years from now. That would have to be a a conversion rate of 100k homes per year or about 2,000 homes per week. Not to mention supply constraints on heat pumps and electric or induction ranges and cooktops, the labor simply isn't there to do that many conversions; if the mandate goes through, the companies that can do conversions will be in such high demand that prices will skyrocket.
And all of that is presuming that the government even has the right to impose this on the people and that this isn’t tyrannical overreach imposed by self righteous activist politicians.
What are you talking about? Nobody was going to be converting old homes over to electric only. The mains are still in the ground and are unlikely to be removed until the number of customers drops below whatever level is needed to justify the infrastructure. As far as the expense, $50k is a lie. It's a few hundred dollars, maybe $5k tops as all of these homes already have the 230v service coming to the home that an electric oven and anything else would use.
