  • In this video, I am going to show you how to use multi-outputs in ssd5.5 in both Pro Tools and in Logic Pro.
    Depending on which DAW you're using, the way to use multi-outputs in SSD5.5 can vary. I cut straight to the nitty-gritty of how to accomplish this, and why you would want to use multi-outputs in SSD5.5
    Here is the midi file that I'm using in the video. drive.google.c...
    Download it and import it into your session to have some fun and to experiment.

    Dude, support at SSD told me I *could not* route drums as individual tracks with SSD5.5. You know it better than their support guys. This solves a _huge_ problem for me, thank you very much!

    • @SidotiSound
      @SidotiSound  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Slate support is usually pretty solid. Maybe they misunderstood?? But I’m glad you liked the video.

    • @scottsigler
      @scottsigler 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SidotiSound They're pretty good, but really overwhelmed right now. Yeah, could have been miscommunication (although I asked for clarification four days ago, so far, nothing - like I said, they're overwhelmed).

    • @BenKash308
      @BenKash308 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree their support is usually solid. They have video support for multi output for almost every DAW on their support pages. Maybe someone is having a bad day lol?

    • @scottsigler
      @scottsigler 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BenKash308 Totally. Their support is usually on-point. I hit them up a lot and every fifth or sixth request or so I get off-kilter advice or the request dies on the vine and I have to follow up repeatedly to get an answer ( have one now where I've provided copious amounts of info and they haven't responded in weeks). My best guess is they have some level of turnover and don't have a polished system of transferring tickets to new people.

      +martin guerrero thanks so much. I like the stuff Yamaha makes. Also I like the JBL stuff too. I use NS-10’s and the JBL 305’s. I have affiliate links in my description if your looking and want to help me out by using the link. I also use a 12” powered sub. Super important when using small near fields.

    great video very helpful. Questions: as I prepare my session for the sound engineer who's gone do the final mix, how should I set my levels in SSD before doing the "render" ? should I set all the instrument on 0 and all the pans in the middle so to give a neutral start for the engineer?
    By the way I managed to get a mix of mono and stereo tracks when I rendered .
    Thanks

  • @rome8180
    @rome8180 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    So in Logic does that mean all the drums are in stereo, even with a multi-output? When recording a real drum kit you want everything but your rooms and overheads to be mono, don't you?

    Great video, thanks! I noticed that the OH's in SSD are on a mono track. Is it ok to route them to a stereo track in the DAW and then pan hard left and right or will that create phase problems?

    Can I route SSD 5 to audio tracks, instead of having to go through aux tracks in Digital Performer?

  • @EGONOZON

    Thanks a lot for this video, that helped a ton (instant subscribe)! I have a question about SSD5.5 though: Is it normal that the samples are super quiet? When I add drums to my songs in Logic (all midi), they almost disappear among the other instruments. I know there is a master volume knob within the plugin that's set to -6dB, but when I turn that up, the drums immediately go to overdrive. Same happens of course when I turn up the volume of the drum track within Logic.
    So do I just have to turn the volume of all the other instruments down? That feels a bit wonky, no? Or put a compressor on the track, even though I'm not in the mixing stage yet? (I just started out making music, so forgive me if that question is nooby :-D)
    I hope you can help me out, I´d really appreciate it!

    • @SidotiSound
      @SidotiSound  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is a balance between the input level and the master output. If the input is low it will only trigger light hits. Think of the input as when the meter hits 0 it’s the hardest the drummer will hit. If he is hitting lightly and you want it to sound like he hit hard then turn the input up. See if that helps.

  • @Ingestone
    @Ingestone 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I followed this exactly but Logic is not creating multiple audio tracks in the last step. Just one extra track with only cymbals, no other drums. I'm on an M1 Mac, OS Sonoma 14.2.1 and Logic 10.8.1

  • @JLP-333

  • @djgoncalix8184

    Great video, thank you a lot!! However do you think that when we record we should use the original levels in the mixer of SSD or should we set to zero all faders? I ask because when mixing the audio files I usually use the original levels that comes with SSD to preserve the balance but I’m not sure if that is the right thing to do. Can you help? Best regards and stay safe!!
