When I was a teenager, this was called Nemesis in the U.S. arcades. Then when the NES was released, this game was called Gradius. I thought, “What the hell is a Gradius?” Lol
That's Konami game localization for you. Want to be more confused? There are two spin-off Gradius games for the MSX computers - Gradius 2 and Gradius 3, appropriately retitled Nemesis 2 and 3 outside of Japan. And these are completely different games from Gradius II and III released in the arcades. And Contra is even weirder in this matter! Contra in the American and Japanese arcades and consoles? Simply Contra, but in Europe? In the European arcades Contra was retitled Gryzor, with removed 2-player co-op feature (the players take turns instead, just like in Gradius), as well as on 8-bit microcomputers, but the NES port was infamously re-worked into Probotector.
@@PrekiFromPoland another one that confused me was Jackal for the NES. I played it in the arcades as Top Gunner. I actually don’t care for either title.
@@ChristopherSobieniak back then I also remember seeing Lifeforce. And I was like, “Why isn’t that Nemesis 2?” And then later on in the late 90’s, I find out that it was called Salamander (which I thought kind of sucked).
February 2, 1985…and I was psyched about Gradius. Konami’s most prized horizontal shoot-em-up! I got super addicted on that one!
El año pasado entrené mucho y pude pasarlo con un solo crédito. Fue tremendamente difícil, pero lo terminé y fue satisfactorio.
The rank system in the arcade version is unforgiving. I couldn't get past the Moai stage.
Stop The Evil Bacterion Forces And Save Planet Gradius!

Yeah they should've kept the same name all over than change it up like Nemesis or "Vulcan Aventure".
