Former Zimbabwean Commercial Farmers Thriving in Zambia | VOANews

  • Some of the Zimbabwean farmers whose land the government seized for redistribution two decades ago moved to Zambia and have prospered. In the past year, those farmers started exporting food to Zimbabwe, which has been struggling with food insecurity, partly because of those land seizures. Columbus Mavhunga reports from Chisamba, Zambia.

That is why we are telling the African youth to be involved in commercial farming. three to four friends can come together and start commercial farming. I expect these farmers in the best case scenario to have learnt common humanity and put aside their racism; to treat their workers with dignity and provide them with proper wages, housing, and schools for their children as opposed to the poverty wages, shacks and rundown or non-existent farm schools that characterized their farms in Zimbabwe; to behave with gratitude and common courtesy to their host nation and its citizens as opposed to being the racist bullies, thugs, invaders and thieves that they were in Zimbabwe. The best thing is that they have presumably entered Zambia legally and by invitation and are presumably neither colonisers nor illegal migrants, both of which they were in Zimbabwe. These guys haven't totally left Zimbabwe they have retained interests in 🇿🇼. Majority of commercial farmers in 🇿🇼 are white still. This is all very conditional on Zambian government "looking after" these farmers. Zambians are being displaced and left behind.
