I think because Sephiroth’s up smash is a single-hit move, and Palutena’s invincible arm was the first thing it hit, the rest of the move was completely nullified. Hitboxes can only hit one hurtbox per character.
Actually Palu cancel the up smash hit box when this last made contact with Bair. If it was a multiple hitbox surly will hit, but it's just one hit move.
@@nathantorres8352 Many Top Sephiroth only know how to do Nair. Having this many more possibilities with its specials. As main Sephiroth I am disappointed to see those supposedly Top Sephiroth that do not take full advantage of the character.

Palutena shield doesn't make her whole body invincible, only her arm and shield is so that up smash definitely should've hit lol
