I'll never forget the first time I heard this song: Sat night, lying in bed, wife sleeping next to me. Couldn't sleep so I turned on the television. 120 Minutes came on MTV and I fell asleep. I was in and out of sleep when suddenly I'm having a dream with this very angelic voice and harmonies. I woke up and it was in the middle of the second verse of this song. I jumped out of bed and ordered the CD immediately. I've been a fan of Delays ever since then.

I’m here after reading about the sad loss of Greg Gilbert. Reading what people in the industry said about his ‘angelic’ and ‘transcendently beautiful’ voice, made me curious, and they weren’t wrong.

I first heard this on the Hits 58 album in 2006 (it came out two years earlier) The songs on that album are WAY better than most chart hits today.
Why this isn’t more famous is beyond me.

I remember being separated from my group at T in the park in 2005 for hours. I eventually bumped into one of my boys, we found a nice ice cream van for cover where we lit up a fat joint, walked towards one of the stages where this fantastic band we discovered at school had just began playing the intro chords to Long Time Coming.
That moment in the scorching Scottish sunshine will NEVER be forgotten. EVER!!

A producer friend introduced me to this band. He summed it up for me. "Perfect Pop songs"
Remember seeing these at the Pixies 2004 reunion shows in London. Enjoyed them that night and the passing of the lead singer has led me back to their music. You'll live on for a long while yet with that voice fella.
Our thoughts are with your family and friends. Sadly this angel is singing in heaven now. Maybe this brilliant song will get the massive credit it should have got back in 2003 - easily as good as Joy Division's Atmosphere.

I’ve loved this song for years and only just realised that it was Greg’s beautiful voice I was listening to. I’m humbled by his amazing inspirational battle the last few years which I only read of this week and his creativity during that time is amazing - look up his art, read his poems. As his brother said this week, the half life of music is infinite, He’ll live on and will always be nearer than heaven through these beautiful songs. Rest well Greg X

Saw the delays in 2008 with 1 of my daughters, terrific gig, they r originaly from my neck of the woods in southampton and ive met and chatted to aaron gilbert a couple of times, lovely guy. Greg and aaron and the rest of the band u can feel proud. The loss of greg is heavens gain, what a voice and so sadly missed.
