- I've decided to collect large silver coins from around the world. My specification for coins I'll be adding to this collection are:
Diameter: approximately 35mm and up
Composition: must contain some silver
Additionally this collection won't include bullion coins.
Stay on the look out for videos of new coins being added.
I plan to be posting a video for a new coin addition each Friday.
If anyone has a suggestion for a coin I should add to the collection, please comment below.

I have this coin Indochina franchise 1905 .900 poids 27 grams.
I got one of this coin too but mine is 1907
In 1969 I got my 1896 French Indochina 1 Piastre coin in Pensacola when I was 14. We were playing with a friend's White's metal detector and he found it. I bought it for $5. Dealer offered $20. instead of giving me the value as I asked for. LOL. Afterward my dad bought and built a Heathkit metal detector for me. Found interesting items like flat irons. Never found anything of real value. The coin doesn't seem to have increased much in value since then. As of 14 Aug. 2017 value is about $43.45.
About 70 years ago my Grandmother found a shoe box full of Confederate paper money in her East Texas attic. Interesting items, the $100 bill are printed on "VERY THIN " paper. I sure would like to hear the story on how all that worthless paper got in that attic. Just thinking how maybe some banker or land owner gave it away as souvenirs. 40 years ago they were worthless. But now I hear they have numismatic value. Have to check that out along with a Canceled check drawn from the Texas State Bank in Austin. for $10 made out to a fellow name Lubbuck. LOL Bet there are tons of that stuff in the bottom of old out houses. Exspenive TP LOL.

my maternal grandparents were merchant back in Laos so they have hundreds of these coins and my mother got a portion of it and her brothers got the rest

my great-grandfather also have some real silver bars - he used to be a livestock seller before the war
my maternal grandmother also gave those "lightning" hammer to my parents as well
Howdy I have a 1890 francaise piastre with the lady and the crown. It seems to be a misprint on the back of mexicana. I am looking to get it graded and interested in finding a home for it. Get in touch if your interested in knowing more or maybe even helping me find a home as well. Blessings.

I have 1 1906 French ido silver with the lady, but on the back it has the Mexicana eagle and snake. Instead of whats on the reverse of this coin. It weighs the same as a Mexicana planchet silver. These 2 should not be on same coin. Have picture of coin
Interesting... there are a lot of fakes of this coin so be cautious. Your coin may be a fake.

My grandfather gave 12 of them to my mother and now she will be giving it to us. I believe they are from early 1900's to 1940's. Her brothers who still live in the old country still has more of them.
