I just watched 5 and 6 and it's SO good. Honestly, this was one of the shows I was really into when I was 12 and when I rewatched it after I grew up, I lowkey didn't get why I loved it so much when I was young. I ended up with mixed feelings. I thought that until s3 there was a lot of toxicity in manik and nandini's relationship and thought that they should just break up. This time around, I'm actually rooting for them because in general it seemed like they had a fairly healthy relationship before they broke up which is a pleasant surprise. Their issues with each other have been built up well this time around and the show has taken the time to explore individual perspectives on a matter that's controversial. Also, my favorite thing in s4 is that they make it a point to show manik not doing anything to nandini without her consent (so far at least) which in itself is leaps and bounds taken in comparison to any show really. I'm excited to see how they will be handling the conflict resolution.

The first 3 seasons I felt as though manik was emotionally manipulative to nandini. He would try to force himself on nandini after the whole leaving her because of dhruv thing. Like I can understand that he was anxious because nandini wouldn't talk to him but It still felt like he was invading by not giving her time to process. And after she accepts his apology but refused to date him (for pretty good reasons), he gets all pouty and treats her like trash again until he gets a sign that she might still be interested. I also think that manik develops a very unhealthy dependency on nandini. I get that it's romantic or whatever but imagine being so messed up after a break up that you couldn't do your job for months on end. Not only would you get fired, you'd have a new problem on your hands which is to figure out how to get a new job after being fired and making sure you can float yourself (food, rent, utilities, etc.) until then. Luckily for Manik, he's privileged and can disappear for months on end and not get fired. Personally, I value my independence a lot. I started living by myself when I turned 18 and I don't really take break ups as hard as he does because people in healthy relationships still have lives and personalities outside of their partner. As much as you love a person, them leaving shouldn't be enough to put your entire life on hold. You should still be okay eventually. The hardest break up I had, I was depressed for 5-ish months but I still hung out with friends and went to work (and university) and did regular stuff that didn't include me ditching everything and heading to mountains.

Manik was a spoiled brat in starting episodes I used to hate him for bullying people. But his character has always enhanced after falling in love with Nandini. In KYY no character is perfect. Nandini's innocence sometimes gets her in trouble. Manik and Nandini both are imperfect. But when they are together they balance each other. Of course, misunderstandings and difficulties come and they get angry with each other but in the end, when you love someone you get back to them. And that's how we humans are.
