Matt has so much of Daemon's personality. Moody. Impatient. Hates council scenes. Rather have a sword. While Paddy is patient like Viserys. Doesn't want conflict. Perfect casting.

@@revilokidcrazy to know he wasn’t even nominated. His performance throughout the show was amazing, even with a slow start it was always engaging, and then the last 3 episodes I thought he won the emmy already turns out wasn’t even nominated.

having sat thru a terrible HoTD panel at San Diego Comic Con, I second this - the moderator for that panel was AWFUL
@@lewpotsmall which is a shame because Jason Concepcion is the man. He’s been around forever and is a huge fan favorite in sports, GOT, etc. in that panel he seemed so nervous he just rapid fired everything. He’s doing the same thing in the official HBO pod and I have no idea. I’ve been a fan of his for over a decade, and he hasn’t done that for anything else.

@@matthewr7593 yeah - I think the biggest issue is there was no setup, he interviewed as if it was the 3rd or 4th season, and the audience knew the characters and story already, so it made no sense to most of us. complete buzz kill for has turned out to be an amazing series so far. He was worse than Hodor ;)
@@matthewr7593 to be fair, most of these panel shows like comic con etc with an audience are usually terrible. Its one thing sitting down with a couple of actors for a chat, and a whole different game when theyre stood up in front of an audience, and the whole cast in front of them, with time restrictions etc. It always just feels awkward
Now we know how patient Paddy Considine must have been. His makeup to make him look like a diseased and sick old King just keeps getting better and better.
And after episode 8, the makeup team SMASHED IT.

If another actor was cast to play an older version of Daemon after these first 5 episodes, I would be sooooo upset lol. He is Daemon Targaryen. I can't picture anyone else in this role now.
I think Matt smith is a legend and love him as an actor. However I’m deeply disappointed with the writing of this show. Daemon isn’t, in my opinion, anywhere the grey bad ass character from the book. I think this show is as badly written as game of thrones was after season 4.

@@eduardosantana8300 Kinda thought the same in the beginning but I think it's definitely getting better. It will be cool to see what happens now that the dance has started, I think we'll see more of the badass in the coming episodes/seasons. The scene of him chopping Vaemond's head off and shrugging off the kingsguard was pretty epic imo.
The fact that the actor described Criston Cole as “infiltrating” the Targaryen family puts a whole bunch of new theories in my head lol
Yeah. He's actively involved in plotting against the targaryens that lead to the dance of the dragons.
He infiltrated Rhaenyra alright

I think he's just not that well articulated. His character didn't set out to infiltrate the Targaryen family or play the game. It was only after his heart was broken by the princess and him dishonored his vow for nothing that his character turned dark and started plotting the downfall of the princess in revenge.
Emma’s idea of letting everyone have a turn on the dragon was so thoughtful! Really goes to show that on a big production, even the bigger actors want to include all the other hardworking people involved.
What I like about this show is Alicent seems totally like someone who in the modern age would be that perfect soccer mom. Sweet, kind, protective of her kids. But in a completely different age and under totally different circumstances, she is something else entirely. And I suppose thats always what I've loved about Martin's works. He tells a story about humans. Not a story about good vs evil.
I mean, she'd be the soccer mom, but she'd be the type who absolutely loses her shit in PTA meetings too.
Paddy saying he wanted to suffer on the throne is so on point for his character and performance

That’s what I was thinking 😂 the blond does him no justice in show.
He's certainly grown on me thanks to this show. He already had some great comedic chops from Hot Fuzz (and The World's End, another Simon Pegg production), but his performance in HOTD really turned me into a fan.
I love how much both Rhaenyras and Alicents actually just adore each other and they're completely gleeful together in these interviews. I mean, rarely do you get people who genuinely hate each other on set - other than Lena Headey despising Jerome Flynn so much post-breakup that she literally demanded they never be onscreen together again - but this was really fun to watch in the context of the characters utterly _loathing_ each other and the actors just breaking out laughing about set experiences over and over.
Can't stress enough how happy I am for Paddy, I hope he blows up in a big way after his performance here, he's been a top drawer actor for donkeys

I love watching Paddy and Matt in interviews, you would think they were best friends in real life. I was not familiar with either actor until House of the Dragon but they are phenomenal in their roles but I have to admit, Daemon is my favorite!
I have always liked Paddy but never knew who Matt was until HOTD. Daemon is my fave with Harwin next.

OMG, Eve & Steve? I love Rhaenys and Corlyss because they actually look like a married couple on the show. They're comfortable with each other onscreen and off. Matt and Paddy also do a great job of bringing that complex brotherly love and tension to the screen on the show as well as in this interview. Then there are the two sets of young and adult Rhaenyra and Alicent who can really play up nicely the rising division between friends, which makes watching the dissolution of their friendship even harder to bear. Damn, I've yet to find something to complain about with HOTD, though that it will end too soon might be at the top so far.
I'm not convinced Eve and Steve aren't married IRL...chemistry off the fucking charts.

Its amazing just how they managed to pick the perfect actor for Eddard Stark and now they do it again with King Viserys Targaryen… and they also manage to deliver the same nostalgia and sense of loss with BOTH actors for BOTH characters. I’m feeling all the emotions with Viserys’ death that I felt back when Ned was killed

Love everything about this. I’ve seen so many vids of Paddy and I can’t get enough of him lol. This whole cast is just so damn brilliant. With everything that happened in the final season of GoT, you just don’t know how this would be received. And it’s been amazing to realize that all 5 episodes so far just keep getting better. Lastly, that last clip of adult Alicent and adult Rhaenyra is incredible. Can’t wait to see the episode it’s on.

I've seen this interview before somewhere else like, over a month ago. Perhaps this channel is just getting around to posting it, but it was filmed a while back.
Paddy goes against the stereotype of great actors having to be moody and serious, as does Matt to a certain extent. Paddy in particular though seems so chilled out.

Matt looked amazing in his long platinum Blonde wig❤ & the actor who plays Daemon’s brother, Forgot his name, but he also looked good & both actors are great & looked the part, They brought it to life. Love shows like game of thrones & The dance of the Dragon, writers & producers pick the prefect actors & actresses to play these characters & they just bring it to life, if this makes any sense lol! It don’t happen a lot with me, but when it comes to Gorge RR Martin he writes & creates the best story’s .

the star wars story was actually about Hayden Christensen. He has said in several interviews he would accidentally start making lightsaber noises while shooting fight scenes just because he was so used to doing that as a kid. I love with the actors are as patient about the story as the fans. Makes show/films that much better
Ewan McGregor was chewed out for making the noises filming Episode 1. You can even see during the Maul fight there were bits they used he was doing it.
@@LordHoth_09 maybe he did it as well, i just remember all the interviews everyone was saying hayden was the one always making the noises, including hayden himself and george.

Still unsure what is that scene with Alicent trying to stab Rhaenyra. She's saying something about duty and sacrifice? And Rhaenyra says that now everybody see Alicent as she is?
And I see Corlys behind Rhaenyra and probably some other Velaryons (maybe Laenor or somebody else). Don't understand when does it take place, from Alicent speach doesn't seem like after Aemond lost his eye (saw this suggestion somewhere). Probably not after Viserys death? And Rhaenyra is crying for some reason.
Every time, without fail, when they mention wigs I imagine the Targaryen with the 40 inch hair bombshell curls body wave unit with the dramatic baby hairs. Try it out, good for a laugh 😂
