  • #348 - Allie Colleen on The Deal She Made With Her Parents To Not Pursue Music Until Graduating + Going to College for Songwriting + Her Childhood and The Root of Her Love for Animals
Allie Colleen talks with Bobby about what life was like growing up for her in Owasso, Oklahoma and learning from an early age that she wanted to be a singer. She shares the things she was exposed to having famous parents and she learned about the invasion of privacy at an early age. Allie talks about the deal with her dad about her music and why she chose to study songwriting at college in Nashville and how her writing has grown over the last few years along with her singing. Allie also explains how it was isolating growing up the way she did and how it led to her love for animals.

You are a super rad young lady. I’m old enough to be your mom, but I was 13 y/o when Ropin The Wind came out. I was a huge fan of your dad’s! I loved country music my whole life, but very few of my peers had ever listened to any of it. I would mention him often but most of them thought they were too cool to listen to country. Until the In Pieces album came out, that is when I noticed a big shift. All the sudden everyone from elementary age to high schoolers, loved your dad.

I am one of those “people at the gate” back then. Spent quite a lot of time there when I was 16-17yrs old, and had many conversations with her dad, as well as one conversation with her Grandma Colleen. Like Allie said, her dad would stop and talk to everyone…. Even rode one of the horses down the driveway and out of the gate. I believe the horses name was Crackerjack

Listened to 98% of it on the podcast, but it cut off the last few minutes so had to come over here in order to not miss any of another great interview.

She should have played “playing house” in front of ray…it’s a great song.

On the big show, top 30 spotlight, and the podcast all in the same week just a few weeks after a certain Garth opener lol....nothing wrong with it either! Life is all about who you know anyways, nothing wrong with using that to her advantage.
