The voice of Nikkie Van Lierop, aka Jade 4U, 101, Darling Nikkie, Miss Lie, and other names is outstanding! In addition to her solo work, she provided the amazing lead vocals on many Praga Khan, Lords of Acid, MNO, Digital Orgasm, and appeared on so many other songs. I was lucky enough to see her live 4 times in the 90's. Has an amazing on stage presence. She is a legend!
Still obsessed with them. Especially the vocals. Vocals are unmatched to this day. Techno got boring when they practically cut out vocals, completely. I wish i was in Europe at those clubs. Too young, and in the wrong country. What USA calls techno is garbage. Theyre still collecting royalties. Nobody did techno better than them.
Oh wow, I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before & I’ve been a big fan of her & the Lords since day 1! Last I remember she got married & did a solo thing, “Sugarcane lollipop..” & then their was that other awesome band with thunderdome vid. I waited & waited for the album. This is all if I am remembering it all right. I was bummed when she left Lords of Acid, it took them time to get another singer that great. Their current singer is really great! But I wondered what happen to Jade4u. Saving this to watch in entirety. Thanks so much for putting this up!
Weird. Not a single mention of her biggest success, Lords of Acid. There was a brief glimpse of a Lords of Acid album cover back in the part where they talked about New Beat, which LoA was certainly not a part of.
Completely incorrect about New Beat. A series of CD's (in the USA at least) was entitled "New Beat" and I think there were 5 or 6 volumes. "I Sit On Acid" was on vol. 1. I know this because I own the disc, and sorely wish I had bought the others at the time. :)
Actually, they show Lords of Acid albums in the collage and she talks about working with Praga Kahn. Did you not see that? She talks about using Jade 4U, which was her name on the LofA ablums.
At 0:29 they mention Maurice Engelen, that's the guy we know as Praga Khan. Really strange that they would deliberately obscure anything related to Lords.
Lords of Acid is a big name in the US, but in Belgium, Europe we talked about Jade 4U and Pragha Khan, not Lord of Acid. Same people, different marketing package...
"if i still have fans from before" YOU SURE DO Jade......and you are one cool chick. You probably would not believe how much you shaped my life since I discovered Lords of Acid thru Napster. I was maybe 11. Your music came to me thru the computer and it was always the sound of coolness, hackers, futurism--the future that never really arrived. Perhaps it's your fault I became so kinky too, lol! Yeah, you have fans, big fans.
She’s beyond awesome. Always was, always will be. It was my scene in the late 80s, totally, a world apart geographically, but still. And I totally, totally understand her creative frustration and bewilderment at the craft. Just so glad she was there leaving her impression on what left an impression on me.
Nikki was super fine back in the day, and i hope shes doing well these days. back in the early 2000's , Lords of Acid was distinguishable from 70% of everything EBM that was being played at the goth clubs. you just knew it was LOA.
"TICKLING MY BODY, sending me signals!!!! REACHING INTO MY BRAAAAAIN!!!!" lol .. "Those Trance producers...mostly from germany, those lyrics were so stupid, i felt like a whore" . That's so awesome to hear
This posting is obviously 5 years old, so I'm wondering how she looks now, but even so, it's hard to believe this is the same woman who accompanied Praga Khan and Digital Orgasm. I actually thought she was English heritage as she looked a diva back in the early 90s. The Pseudonyms clearly generated confusion!
She is saying new beat started techno. But it was kraftwerk and other electronic bands that influence Juan Atkins who created his own style of music and called it techno. One of his singles called techno city in 1984.This was before New beat.. Even Depeche Mode would visit Detroit and Derrick May and wanted to know about techno.. Which in return was also influenced by Depeche mode.. Techno came from the sound that was made from the factories made in Detroit. Even Richie Hawtin knows this.
Wow, what an amazing Woman!!! I just entered the rabbit hole whilst tidying my HD. Found an album in RM format??? Few googles later watched this then realised it was HER from Praga Khan playing at Glastonbury Dance Tent in 1999, 2000 or 2001, wearing the most naughty gunmetal cat suit 😍 Incredible performance followed by Carl Cox doing the best DJ set I've ever experienced. x x x x
Can anybody upload Jade 4u's Blue Angel LP on TH-cam i want this comment noticable so everyone can see it. I heard all her music besides that LP please reply someone if u have it or if its on list of uploads or something?
I'm a "Child of Acid"... damn...Nikki...you were a huge part of forming Lords! I love Phantasia and Digital Orgasm, and have your "Rave Madonna" cd... and Praga Khan's "Conquer Your Love" .. your chemistry with him made that album EXCEPTIONAL!! I still like LOA but not the same without you. Thanks to you who uploaded this...it clears up some things but am disappointed as well..
Most of the lyrics in "very bad English" were actually written that way on purpose. It was almost a style of its own, meant to be catchy and did the trick. Of course, if you're a poetic soul like Nikkie and such an incredible singer, that must have been frustrating as fuck. Not a fan of it myself.
Greets & respect Dj BMC Arjan Lodewijks
And now those trance producers don't even have to use a human singer. These days they can just use Vocaloids (there are a lot of trance produers in Japan using Hatsune Miku, for example). Not sure which voicebank could give a Jad4U-like sound though (there are enough Vocaloid and Utau voicebanks already available, something should match).
Cherrie Blue came in after.Jade4U and then C. Blue got kicked out then Jade came back in after VoodooU then Jade left after Our Little Secret and then Miss Debbie O came in for Farstucker replacing Jade, I hope I got that right.
Rock to the beat was in alignment with a trance state,it wouldn't align now because the drugs are gone, long since departed...What troubles me,is the fact you don't recognise it!...& your still very intelligent....The Search goes on...please remember now evolve into your new stuff....
I wish that I could apologize to this woman. she didn't make it to sing with vanity 6 under prince and she obviously felt like her only purpose in life was to sing swinger house jazz. amelia arsenic loves my comments. myap
of course Kraftwerk and the synthpop scene was before New Beat... new beat started from all that ... Tipically A split second's flesh is always named as the start of New Beat (at lowered speed of course)
My guess is that she's talking about Kai Tracid... but Kai is a great producer, u should be proud of singing in some Kai song's instead of talking crap about German producers...

Praga Kahn.......Injected with a Poison. Totally captivating vocal sound. Just amazing.
You love her before you even see her. Real power.
ace track. it's one of the big timeless classic and totaly unmatched.
Yep, one of the earliest dance tunes I can remember and still listen to it today.
Nobody did techno better than them.
umm are you insane? I guess youve never heard of Detroit? The greatest techno on Earth comes from there.
i just love her voice.......
Oh wow, I can’t believe I’ve never seen this before & I’ve been a big fan of her & the Lords since day 1! Wow, her speaking voice is beautiful. I love to just listen to her talking.

I know right. That's where I grew to love her vocals from .....her stint with the Lords of Acid.
Actually, they show Lords of Acid albums in the collage and she talks about working with Praga Kahn. Did you not see that? She talks about using Jade 4U, which was her name on the LofA ablums.

I think I spoke to her in Glasgow 30 years ago. Who doesn't like mohawks and hardcore raver techno?
She’s beyond awesome. Always was, always will be. It was my scene in the late 80s, totally, a world apart geographically, but still. And I totally, totally understand her creative frustration and bewilderment at the craft. Just so glad she was there leaving her impression on what left an impression on me.
Oh yes 💯👍‼
Thank you, Andromatic. Nice post. Still have a lot of the releases she mentions on vinyl.
she was excellent when I saw her on tour with Lords of Acid
Nikki was super fine back in the day, and i hope shes doing well these days.
back in the early 2000's , Lords of Acid was distinguishable from 70% of everything EBM that was being played at the goth clubs. you just knew it was LOA.
Fucking hell she looks good for her age.
She looks like a woman in her 40s, which is exactly what she was at rhe time.
Sill have my Digital Orgasm CD I bought eons ago!! She's will always be Jade 4U, in my eyes.
I love her voice and am happy she's now happy.
"The early train" is ingenious. I liked Phantasia and other projects but in my opinion, later she failed.
Hey, she sang the soundtrack to the best years of my life. I just hope shes happy somewhere.
"TICKLING MY BODY, sending me signals!!!! REACHING INTO MY BRAAAAAIN!!!!" lol .. "Those Trance producers...mostly from germany, those lyrics were so stupid, i felt like a whore" . That's so awesome to hear
Jade 4 U is a babe and one of the greatest techno girls ever.
I love her honesty and her beautiful face!
I'm so glad I found this interview
she's one cool chick indeed
Gorgeous, Awesome, Innovator, Beautiful Voice...on and on
bosssho I Agree Jade 4u is Amazing!
still gorgeous
She is 45 in this and looking better than many 25 year olds.
You bet
She’s HOT
Phantasia - Inner Light
I would love to find and listen more of this meditation music and band with Nikkie on the end of the interview.Anyone?

You can join her Facebook page.
Nikkie van Lierop Fans.
You can see what she looks like now ;)
I think that the confusion was intentional. The rave scene is meant to be an underground scene which is indifferent, if not overtly hostile to fame.
She is saying new beat started techno. But it was kraftwerk and other electronic bands that influence Juan Atkins who created his own style of music and called it techno. This is fantastic, period.
Am I missing something? She completely ignored mentioning Lords of Acid :(
No she mentioned Praga Khan many times. That's Lords of Acid. Its him.
Can anybody upload Jade 4u's Blue Angel LP on TH-cam i want this comment noticable so everyone can see it. I heard all her music besides that LP please reply someone if u have it or if its on list of uploads or something?
Or if familiar with the Album.
Can you find Miss Nicky Trax and interview her please.
I'm a "Child of Acid"... damn...Nikki...you were a huge part of forming Lords! Nikki, you're so cool. Thanks for the raving madness and good to see you're doing what you love to do. I'm gonna listen to this.
You are rockin! ;) Love you from LOA will have to check out your new stuff

@@TV-mp4dm Thanks man I have a Guerilla release from same time called Euphoria That why I needed to know, thanks fo yo knowledge...C'MON!!!
She's tidy and from a beautiful memorable era.
Nikkie van Lierop is an absolute legend along with Maurice Engelen, Oliver Adams and many others of that New Beat / Euro Techno era.
Brilliant Nikkie, I'm glad to know you! Keep going!
This Girls voice is better than the black girls with the great voices...AMAZing !!!
Thank you for this upload. :)
Good for you, Darling Nikki! You are still stunning.
Is she Belgian, German or what? It's seen that she got so many nationalities as artist names 🤔
The "New Beat" genre was a conversion from "Punk"/"New Wave", going into "Techno"/"Acid"/"Elektro".
Drivel
Shes still beautiful

She was succeeded by Miss Kitten. Jade 4u was obviously an influence on Miss Kittin with the deadpan vocals.
what show was this on?
what do you call much earlier? what year are you talking about ?
could anybody tell me the name of the track heard at 3.14 please?
