I gotta admit, the best part of this is that the ads are way louder than the actual video
I didn't even realize I had PTSD until I got older. Seeing ppl shoot at other people. Running into the house to get away from gunshots, my grandma having us sleep on the floor in case bullets come through the window, seeing ppl laying on the ground, down the street behind yellow tape, seeing gang initiations happen where a group of ppl beat one person bloody like they wanted them dead as oppose to joining, and the screams of mothers and loved ones seeing their family member laying there, have all been imprinted in my mind. Being only about 7-8 years old, it definitely affected me in a bad way. I had to join a little peewee gang that lasted till about 6th grade, just so my two older brothers and I wouldn't have to fight every single day, just to keep our shoes, book bags, and money. We were just sick of fighting and we knew that being with a group would help. It solved the problem for bsure. Thankfully, we made it out and didn't progress to a level where the older kids started usin guns. I thank God for that everyday.

I visited Chicago once and ended up lost since I'm not used to big cities, I'm from a little back woods town in Virginia..
Well I ended up in Southside, didn't think much of it at first, just thought it was another part of the city, well I soon found out I was on the wrong side of the tracks when I rode up the road in a neighborhood filled with guys standing outside, eyeing my car down, holding guns... I had never seen that before, so I kept driving and idk how many RIP signs I passed on the walls, it was like one after another.. so I finally made it to a little convenience store in Englewood and my friend got out to ask for directions while I sat in the car, next thing I know a bunch of guys in red came up to the car and watching me, probably wondering why a little white girl was over there... Next thing I knew I heard a ton of gunshots ring out from idek where and the guys took off running through an alley, I ducked and covered myself in the car, and then my friend ran out the store with the clerk to make sure I wasn't dead, he yelled saying asking why she would leave me out there by myself! But we didn't know how dangerous it really was... Thankfully he gave us directions on how to get out before anything else happened.
I told this story because just being in that situation just one time literally scarred me for life, I can't even begin to imagine how scared the people who live there must be and how much they have witnessed and encountered 😢 After personally seeing all the RIP signs tagged on the walls it breaks my heart for their families

I can’t imagine. I’m in south jersey suburbs and Atlantic City is just 20 minutes away. People here think AC and Pleasantville are bad. And while they do have their issues and violence, it’s nothing like the stuff I’ve seen in videos like this and of other worse cities. And some of the stuff I’ve read.

Thanks for uploading. I'm from Chicago. I always hoped and thought it would get better and easier. There, in life, and for everyone. It isn't.
And it won’t get “better”, at least for a very long time. Some of these gangs are extremely sophisticated and a lot of kids that join gangs is due to a generational thing where they are born into this. Some hoods are locked down by older OG’s which families have been there for generations.
Been to some of those neighborhoods, and I swear to God, I had to pray each time to make it out alive. As a Chicagoan I never feel safe everywhere even night time near Mag mile

Dans les ghettos US 🇺🇸 ils ont de belle petites maisonnettes 🏡 et nous ont vie en HLM dans des bâtiments les un sur les autres. La délinquance y est plus dangereuse car y a là vente d’armes chez eux puis y a pas le RSA il me semble. Sinon en France 🇫🇷 la vie en HLM est moins belle, la plupart du temps y a même pas un brun de soleil ☀️🏢

The fact that most of them are young because the others are dead or in prison is so sad. The cycle goes on and on. The fact that parents that do wanna move out of these cities to save their kids can't even afford to and barely have any support to help them do so is even sadder. The fact that you could just be walking on the street, you happen to cross paths with other gang members and that's your life on the line. Some even have cousins or brothers or childhood friends in rival gangs thus causing them to never even speak to one another again.

Todays youth have it way harder than we ever had it. Now if your embarrassed in front of your friends and you don't prove yourself, you might as well kill yourself, because you won't live it down. School, working, judgment(just look at you), ect., is just plain freaking hard. The youth today are expected to go to school, work, then get into good colleges and universities without a break, always judged by adults, peers and others around them. My 22 year old is wonderful, I couldn't imagine this universe without them in it. They have shown me such great things I'd never have known about on my own. Don't judge all over one bad apple, and remember we raised these children, so are you saying your a bad parent. Peace and much love sent from Ontario, Canada.

Habiter dans des quartiers du genre, c'est compliqué car si tu n'as pas de gang, tu es une proie. Et ce que ne dis pas le documentaire, car ils ont une foutu caméra qui empêche les gangsters d'être honnêtes, c'est que bon nombre aimeraient, en réalité, changer de vie. Mais tu ne quitte le gang que par la fuite ou par la mort.
Cela ne les dédouane pas, mais ce n'est pas une question de neurones, mais une question de mode de vie et de repère. On y est tous sensible, et dans leur contexte, vos neurones ne vous sauveraient pas.

Probably one of the greatest documentary I’ve watched about the streets of Chicago. The place is a Warzone, there is a reason why I only walk on Lake Michigan Ave and never going down a road that has nobody walking on. It’s screwed up and honestly sad. People getting shot for absolutely nothing, they get shot just for standing there (wrong place, wrong time), doesn’t matter if your white, black, Hispanic, Asian, male, female, infant, kid, teen, adult, grandparent, they’ll just shoot to show the power the they own. Praying for my city to get a major upcoming all around especially the South Side.

And In the last few years the gang and death rate has decreased by the hundreds so things are not the way y’all keep trying to portray on social media and tv. A lot of neighborhoods have been rebuilt, schools has improved, stores have reopened and been rebuilt. The neighborhoods and the cleanliness is improving… so let’s not talk about what we assume or feel based off of OTHERS experience or what the news shows because once again it’s not all or Chicago it’s select few neighborhoods and even some of those are under improvement.

Dealer c'est du 1midi - 1 h du mat' 7 / 7 contrairement à ce que laisse entendre le reportage : ils ne "glandent" pas, ils se font chier à attendre des clients tels des commerçants. ENsuite, comme ils tombent en prison ou dans une tombe le gain financier est finalement très limité. Tu m'as aussi l'air d'être peu éveillé aux thèses du capital culturel, social et symbolique : je t'invite à t'y intéresser. ENfin, la politique publique à Chicago ne fournit ni la sécurité à ses habitants, ni l'accès à l'éducation permettant au plus grand nombre de comme tu dis se resposabiliser et se prendre en main. Il y a bien entendu tout un climat culturel de violence et de gang amenant ces jeunes à adopter ce mode de vie, mais pour des enfants commençant à être des gangsters à 13 ans je me demande à quel point on peut penser qu'ils sont "responsables" de leurs choix.

This is really sad to watch. Chicago is my favorite city, I basically grew up there. My experience was totally different, shopping at the Watertower and eating at good restaurants. The people there are very nice and deserve better.
Watertower!! So amazing in 80’s!!! Then went to Gino’s for pie, then wrote our names on the walls!

C'est un bon reportage qui montre une partie de la triste réalité des USA. Il faudrait faire une deuxième partie pour parler de la misère noire qui détruit les familles, facilite et enrichit les cartels et les vendeurs d'armes. Au-delà des apparences, c'est un business florissant pour certains. La violence n'est que la face cachée de l'iceberg. Il faudrait aussi insister sur ceux qui se battent pour sortir leurs communautés de cet enfer. Et enfin, insister sur le fait que les jeunes n'ont aucun autre avenir devant eux. du coup, c'est une pépinière pour les gangs et des clients pour le marché des armes et de la drogue.

J'y ai été à Chicago cette année en Février, et ce n'est pas du tout un coupe gorge comme tout le monde nous le vend. C'est une ville magnifique avec des gens très accueillant et souriants. En tout cas c'est très safe pour un touriste d'aller la bas. Il faut juste éviter les ghettos bien sur ne pas jouer avec le feu comme un peu de partout !

C'est réel ça! J'ai un ami qui était pieux; il est allé s'installer aux USA,précisément à Chicago. Le gars a complètement changé! Il était méconnaissable! Il est devenu un gangster! J'ai de la peine pour lui! Now je pige tout! Force au caméraman et la reportrice! Très courageux de leur part,de risquer sa life! C'est toujours comme ça: beaucoup suivent le mauvais chemin,et peu le bon chemin! Large est la porte et spacieux le chemin qui mène à la perdition!
