    About The Route and Film:
Riders will test their endurance and skills on this epic 1,400-mile backcountry tour of the Northeast Region up to the Canadian border. The tracks wind through 7 states and nearly a dozen state forests on dirt and gravel roads, challenging seasonal and Class IV roads, and twisty tarmac. Expect scenic views, endless forest roads under a canopy of trees, rocky expert-only sections and the highest elevations in the Northeast. Every state delivers a unique adventure riding experience unto itself.
    About Backcountry Discovery Routes:
Backcountry Discovery Routes® (BDR®) is a non-profit organization that creates off-highway routes for dual-sport and adventure motorcycle travel. We have introduced a new route with free GPS tracks for the community every year since 2010.
Routes can be downloaded from our website at www.ridebdr.com
Our work includes rider education, safety campaigns and promoting responsible travel for motorcyclists traveling in the backcountry.
Our volunteer-powered organization works with agencies and land managers to keep trails and remote roads open for motorcycling.
Each route generates new tourism that delivers sustainable economic relief to less-advantaged rural communities. This creates local stakeholders who will help fight to keep access for dual-sport and adventure motorcycles in these incredible backcountry areas.

OK that chick on the 1200 is a straight up G. I'm 5-11 270 (not obease). I sat on a full size adv once. There's no way in fkn hell I'd be doing what she's doing on that bike. Fkn respect. 🤘

Last year I did most of the NH and Maine sections on a Honda PCX 150. Didn't do the Maine ADV sections and MT. Washington doesn't allow scooters. It was pretty slow going but loads of fun. No mechanical issues -probably from going so slow. I'm a fat old guy in my 60s.

Mike Lafferty, from Mauricetown NJ? Family’s been riding east coast/nj enduros for years. I was wondering who was cowboying that KTM off all the rocks! Ktm sponsored a demo day a couple of years ago in Downingtown pa and he was the leader of the pack! Now I recognize him. I was a Delaware Enduro rider and had many a good time in the pine barrons.

I'm in the North Eastern corner of Vermont I've been scouting the class 4 roads around here for a while. There's lots of good riding in Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties too. I ordered the map and am going to try some day/overnight trips this year. Excellent video production! Thank you!

Maybe BDR could create an app so riders could plan routes/link together, in real time pinpoint spots on the route that maybe closed/blocked etc etc. could be very neat and helpful and get people out there that may be hesitant to otherwise. I would definitely use it. Maybe there’s already such a thing?

Beyond the bikes, the views, and the people...comes the true generosity and kindness that all these folks give to make this happen.
Personally I can't wait to complete all the BDRs, and I thank y'all so much for all your hard work.
It's so amazing for all these small towns and the true Mom &Pop establishments, the routes will bring consistent visitors and money to these places that deserve it.
As a father of 2 daughters I absolutely love that there are multiple females on this trip, it's encouraging for so many young women to see this.

Amazing to see how the BDR organization has grown over the years. It is incredible how you have created this brand with your passion, dedication and hard work and how far it has come! Congratulations on having established another successful route.. and on continuing to build on this legacy which will impact so many riders and the communities you have brought them to. Kudos to the team and to the legendary Mr. Noren for producing these incredible video stories for us to follow and have a small taste of what we can experience by following your routes. Thank you!! Ride on!!

Thanks for all your hard work in putting these together. I've ridden the Idaho, NM and Mid Atlantic routes. Looking forward to the NE in a few weeks. Having spent hours creating routes and tracks to ride in Ca, Oregon, Nevada and Washington, I appreciate the time and effort it takes to do this. It sure makes it easy for us to simply download the tracks/routes you created then ride them. Also, a big thumbs up to Butler maps-what a great resource they provide. On another note, seeing Mike Lafferty ride brought back memories of the Quicksilver National Enduro when he was on the row in front of me and we had about two minutes to catch our breath at the first reset!

We rode Sections 3 and 4 at the end of May. October Mountain was phenomenal, hands down the most rewarding experience I've had on a bike. Took the easier alternates for the first couple Class IVs in VT, then tried my hand at Tabor Road, and it kicked my ass on the 1290. I am amazed by what Jocelin can do on the 1200GS. Looking forward to getting into NH and Maine in the near future. Thanks for putting together some great routes! Only constructive feedback I have is it would be great for the GPS tracks to have like a ski-mountain difficulty label for the different stages, though it's always condition dependent.

@@savage22bolt32 GPS tracks are a series of navigation waypoints that your navigation system (even smartphone mapping apps) use to guide you along a pre-set route. If you use Apple or Google Maps you can add points and create a route anywhere on the planet, and then share it with others so they can enjoy it as well. Basically, it’s just a high-tech version of using a grease pencil on a Jimapco atlas and mailing Xerox copies of it to your buddies.

    • @caitismith909
      @caitismith909 ปีที่แล้ว

Buy the Butler Maps for the BDRs you're going to do. They show the tracks and highlight the Class 4 in Vermont so you'll know where to turn to avoid them (if you want). They were also very helpful in seeing the 'big' picture to see your progress and find upcoming towns for supplies. These maps a re great compliment to the maps and tracks you'll be using on your phone or tablet for navigation.

I live right in Greene County, where stage 1 begins, and I had no idea the BDR was there…I had never even heard of a BDR until a I watched a car review by a man in Washington State, and he mentioned that he was testing the tires on a section of the PNW BDR, and the terrain was just gorgeous and varied. He said that there were now BDRs in just about every state, and so I looked it up and here it was! 🤩

Geat video of country that I love. I'm interested in hearing whether the guys riding Afrika Twins rode DCT versions or manual ones. I think I'd choose DCT. I also see that soft luggage is better. It does not get banged up as much and sort of adapts better to the knocks of the road.

Love these BDR documentary videos, RESPECT to all the riders who take part, however I have to single out Joycelyn Snow for her can do attitude and riding ability on that 1200 GS (Best Bike in the World 😉) and of course Sterling and the other professionals that make these videos.

They ditched the northern part of the original Maine track not long after the NEBDR was created. (I'm not sire why). The new route still goes through the Rangeley, ME area and then goes towards the gravel roads near Aziscohos lake and then back to New Hampshire. Still a great ride, just a bit shorter.
