Titanic as #1 is well deserved. I saw this in cinema twice as a kid in 97, had the VHS, had the DVD, actually didn’t have the Blu-ray but now I have the 4K and wow I just love this movie it’s one of my top five forever
Great list Adam, and always appreciate you doing separate lists for the catalog titles and the brand new movies that came out this year and the tail end of last year.
"DUEL" is a super Old School Classic. Can't wait to pick this up on 4K because I know the desert scenario will look incredible in 4K And "It Follows" will freak anyone out after the 1st watch
Top 3: bride of chucky, from beyond, and cinderella Honorable mentions: 12 angry men, the lighthouse, princess bride, face/off, snow white, creepshow, and the blob Just a lot of great stuff this year, countless blind buys ive made on the format this year
Great list. - UK version of Titanic gets an extra disc, I was never a fan of this film but was blown away by 4K. Second sight and Arrow released great discs too. In addition Turbine produced one of my favourites - The frighteners. Thanks for your efforts in 2023 and I appreciate your coverage of no US discs too.
On the import front, I would add Bloodsport and Hellraiser Quartet of torment to the list. Two of my favorite 4K releases of the year, and huge upgrades over previous home releases for those titles. I agree about Second Sight, I have six of their releases and all are top notch quality.
Videodrome is certainly no slouch from Criterion. Some may balk at it only being mono, but no need to reinvent the wheel as it's very good in its own right. Universal was probably the most disappointing this year with Love Actually and American Graffiti both being misfires.
Videdrome is much more stable on the 4k and looks great but I can understand how it wouldn't blow someone away who maybe isn't familiar with previous versions
Enjoyed your Top Ten for 2023. I appreciate that they’re not the same old tired list that you see on everybody else’s channel. Thanks for putting some thought into it! Have a Happy New Year!
Can't argue with this list which pretty much matches with the discs in my collection, including Sisters Brothers (good call). My list deviates a bit at positions 3,4,5 where I would substitute Barbarella, Witness, and Days of Heaven.
As an audiophile I do t have any of these 4K because they don’t have original audio. I wish these major studios would care enough to put the audio mix I care about hearing on the disc.
Hmm, who would have ever thought seeing a paramount, and a Disney release in the top spot, hmm, I will agree with this though, I still have to watch avatar on my set up, with the Dolby vision upgrade, but I did pre-order both of those movies, and titanic, so I will definitely try and watch those movies while I am off this week, but I first have to finish my LotR trilogy, which I have had, I just don’t think I watched the movies yet….. they have been sitting on my shelf, for about 1 years, I think…
I personally don't recommend Duel 4K bc it does not include the original Mono audio that was included on the bluray. The Atmos track might sound cool if you have overheads but the 5.1 TrueHD version sounds atrocious with way too much sound coming from the rears. I think deleting original audio is an egregious practice in general especially for movies made decades before surround existed
A couple of years ago the original "First Blood " Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna was meticulously remastered in 4k. This movie always looked horrible. The 4k version was breathtaking. Unfortunately the audio was terrible. They need to re-release this in DTXS or Atmos.
Thank you Adam, I cannot wait to see The Fugitive. The only thing I might hessites about telling people is to throw out their old copies of movies. Things are going out of print all over the place and frankly DVD's and Blu-Ray have a longer shelf life than 4K's. For my absolute favorite movies, I keep the originals. As for taking up too much room, I bought a 100 pack of slim sleeves from Amazon, saves a lot of room for keeping duplicates and housing our not so favorite titles that we still want to keep.
The grain in “The Others” 4K UHD is like swarming jiggling termites. Generally, grain is fine with me but when it is so distracting like in The Others, it takes me off the movie.
He explains at the start of the movie that he is making a separate list for new movies released in 2023. This is only for catalogue releases (ie - not new releases). He also explains that this is a subjective list - his own personal list and that everyone will have their own list.

Enter the Dragon was stunning compared to previous releases.
Great video Adam. Nobody named Training Day, looks and sound excellent and put the old blu-ray to shame.
Titanic as #1 is well deserved.

On of the best 4k releases of 2023 for me is Psycho collection from arrow video. The restoration on psycho II, psycho III and IV looked amazing.
The Fugitive transported me back to seeing it in the cinema in the 90s. Amazing job on a wonderful movie.
Great to hear Dragonslayer included here. Always loved this movie and happy to see the recognition in the 4K format.
Congratulations on the growth of the channel! You work hard, and you *deserve* it!
Oppenheimer is a stunner for me, and Titanic deserves a mention also. One that surprised me with how excellent it came out was The Warriors.
Great list Adam, and always appreciate you doing separate lists for the catalog titles and the brand new movies that came out this year and the tail end of last year.
couldn’t wait for this video! I’ve been loving going in blind on older movies being released on 4k! Thanks so much for the content it helps so much 😊
Props to you for recognizing these films!

The three disc trilogy set of the Equalizer franchise, has scenes in Imax. The DTSX sound is superior to the Atmos.
One of my favorites that got a 4k disc in 2023 was To Live And Die In L.A.
I will second Dragonslayer and The Maltese Falcon.
Concur, TLIDILA looks beautiful
Top 3: bride of chucky, from beyond, and cinderella
Honorable mentions: 12 angry men, the lighthouse, princess bride, face/off, snow white, creepshow, and the blob
Just a lot of great stuff this year, countless blind buys ive made on the format this year
JFK look superb as well as Fargo. Shout Factory has been on point lately
What about Streets of Fire 4k? Phenomenal transfer. Great Atmos musical soundtrack. Diane Lane was 18 years old.
first newer vid i watched from you and the quality got me lol
Thank you for the recommendations! Just watched Dragonslayer tonight in 4k and it was AWESOME!
Sorry i thought Guardians of the galaxy 3 was a let down, and Avatar is not out in the uk yet Adam
I feel like 2024 will an even bigger year for catalog titles since not many new releases will be in 2024.
Just ordered The Fugitive and I plan to get Titanic eventually. Always nice to expand and/or upgrade my physical media collection.
Just found your channel, you are amazing!!! Keep it up bro!
I thought Arrows restoration of the warriors was particularly impressive. That film aside a few shots basically looked brand new.
Excellent transfer, agreed.
Barbarella too
On the import front, I would add Bloodsport and Hellraiser Quartet of torment to the list. Two of my favorite 4K releases of the year, and huge upgrades over previous home releases for those titles. I agree about Second Sight, I have six of their releases and all are top notch quality.

I fully agree on your pick #1!!!!
Is your OLED TV calibrated for such an honest pic detailing? Or you watch catalogue stuff on 4k projector
Fully calibrated professionally.
My favorite catalogue title pick ups these year: Dragonslayer, Army Of Darkness, Sleepy Hollow, World War Z and Jaws 2.
Where's The Pianist 4K? One of the best IMHO.
I agree with from beyond. It looks absolutely amazing. Fun crazy movie.
Where would you put Barbarella in resolution from a 4K Blu-ray disc?
Excellent list! 👍
Can't argue with this list which pretty much matches with the discs in my collection, including Sisters Brothers (good call). My list deviates a bit at positions 3,4,5 where I would substitute Barbarella, Witness, and Days of Heaven.
Worthy inclusions.
I Have JFK and The Fugitive. 4k And u know had to get Titanic and Avatar then ugh got the collector edition few weeks ago
no Truman Show or Training Day 4k?…
An American werewolf in London 4k 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
As an audiophile I do t have any of these 4K because they don’t have original audio. I wish these major studios would care enough to put the audio mix I care about hearing on the disc.
And yet being an "audiophile" gives you zero merit on an otherwise regular opinion.
Would Infinity Pool make top 20? I loved the transfer.

Capelight’s The Great Escape
Was expecting “The Prince of Egypt” to be on the list, but oh well. 😢
i'm fine with the blu ray version of the movie
I know these lists are totally subjective. I would have added John Wick 4 to this list as well. Good list. Thanks adam.
This is a catalog title list Scruffy. There is another vid coming.
looking forward to it@@MovieGuy365
@@MovieGuy365what is catalogue list means

Agreed.
$50-60 on Amazon....ouch.
Reading the comments, I think an explanation/definition of "catalog titles" might have helped a few of your viewers. 😂

I know I have whined about this before but if I don't like a movie I do not care at all how good the audio and video are. I am not buying it.
True - you can't polish a turd! 💩
Yes, that has to be the number one factor. Good audio and visuals are welcome and interesting technically but if the film is rubbish it's academic!
Oppenheimer?
Wouldn’t be on this list, check again in another few days.
The Audio of both of your #1's are not that good at all.... Cameron is out of his stupid mind when it comes to sound.
The grain in “The Others” 4K UHD is like swarming jiggling termites. Generally, grain is fine with me but when it is so distracting like in The Others, it takes me off the movie.
Surpised that Oppenheimee didn't make the list
It isn’t a catalog title, different list.
@@MovieGuy365 Thanks for the clarification! I should probably not multitask as much with videos while I'm working. Really enjoy the channel!
All of these movies are old that u pick and also movies u like and therefore is not true. None new movies.
Guess you didn’t watch the video.
"...and therefore is not true."
What? Lol
Catalog means back catalog. All studios' previous movies.
"Catalog" = older titles
