Vanek and Martin, with that defensive play won the UM game, and Vanek and Weber won the UNH game by themselves. Ayers was really good that year, and Vanek made him look silly. Too bad Weber had a bad time after that, hope he's well.
gophers are def all homegrown..usually all from MN. but rarely does unh produce a good player that is actually from new hampshire. they get all massachusetts players and a few canadiens since unh's program is a lot more storied than umass.
3 North Dakota players on this team? Grant Potulny and..... who else? There was 1 Canadian (who never played), 1 from North Dakota, 1 from Austria and 24 from Minnesota
Danny irmen and ryan potulny were not on this team, those are the other 2 no dak players people are mentioning. no canadians played, (Peter kennnedy being the only one on the roster). All minnesota boys, except...the goat, Vanek.
It's a fact, they don't have those 3 guys they don't get the titles. I take pride in the talent that came from North Dakota on that team. Typical Gopher fan, taking it way too personal.
Think of it... Phil Kessel Blake Wheeler Kyle Okposo Eric Johnson and a few others of lesser professional value but good college players, could still be Gophers. This team is always getting and losing blue chippers. too bad. they compete every year but they could do so much more if they could get some upper classmen to stick around. And stay away from starting 18 year old freshman or highschool seniors. GO Gophers!
Well that's not exactly how it is. Lucia always grabbed the best players out of high school even in these years. The game of hockey just changed, where junior hockey became hugely important. All winning college teams now a days send most if not all of their players to a year or 2 of juniors before they come to college, and Lucia did not adjust to the change quick enough, so the gophers have been so unsuccessful the past few years. Lucia adjusted, and now the gophers are back in the frozen four.
That may be true, it helps that MN has a lot more people in the state than ND does. Judging from your awful english MN may not have the best public school system. My statement was about Ryan, Grant, and Danny not T.J.
Tj oshie was born in the state of washington and moved to minnesota to play competitive high school hockey. You clearly no nothing about hockey. Stick to bison football.
the 3 greatest hockey players (G. Potulny, R. Potulny, D. Irmen) to ever come out of north dakota all go to the gophers, how does that make you feel...
Damn... I miss those glory days. 02 and 03 were the years!
This was an amazing year!
Vanek=Hall of Fame

And now UMass is on the rise and might rival northeastern to get mass talent while us wildcats have suffered a lot since then 🥲
This is when the Gophers got positional, team and playmaking players. Now we get all superstars from individual high schools... Lucia is fucking up.
he knew the building all to well, the Sabres had to draft Vanek
Two words... Thomas Vanek

i am a big umass fan i go to a lot of their games and new hampshire is without question the team i hate the most...thanks for kicking their asses!
That first goal against Michigan did not look like it went across the goal line...
yeah they reviewed it for a long time but it crossed by the slimmest of margins, not a pretty goal, thats for sure

Only degenerates and the retarded live in North Dakota.
