Sarah's Vegan i love violife cheeses, quorn mince, cauldron sausages & tofu but the smoky jackfruit burgers i tried smelt & tasted of paraffin. OMG it was disgusting.
Sarah's Vegan the Morningstar crumbles that just became vegan in the past year or so I think are some of the best crumbles. They have plain and chorizo. If you haven’t tried them, give them a taste.
tried the gardin meat crumble this past weekend to make filling for tortillas it was delicious i bought that cuz my grocery store was out of tvp im lookin g forward to make your croissant recipe cuz there isnt any croissant vegan available where i am
my favorites are the quorn meatless chicken nuggets (they taste the same as the kids cuisine nugget dinners), Annie's gluten free vegan mac and cheese, and the Haagen Dazs non dairy mocha chocolate cookie ice cream!!!
yes!! i was born being anaphylactic to dairy and it is amazing how many options I have now that have come out in the last few years! thank u vegans lol
It's great that there's so many options including oat, almond, hazelnut, hemp seed, cashew, soya, rice and coconut. Sometimes there's a combination of the above and there's even chocolate flavor vegan plant based drinks.
I’ve got 90% of this stuff in my house 🙈 Daiya has improved their stuff so much. That or I’ve been off dairy for so long now, my taste buds don’t notice so much lol
Melt has sticks, but they're so hard to find! They used to sell them at my Walmart but they stopped and I haven't found it again :/ My Sprouts just started selling Van Leewens oatmilk ice cream and HOLY SHIZ it is incredible!!! So expensive but definitely worth it! ANY FLAVOR is amazing. I'm sure they'll start going on sale soon since it's sprouts and I feel like vegan ice cream is always on sale there lmao. I'm a fan of the Califia barista oatmilk because it's easier to find and more affordable than oatly, especially buying it on Vitacost! As for regular oatmilk, Chobani just started making it and I love it with cereal. KeVita's apple cider vinegar tonic in the ginseng mandarin flavor tastes almost like fanta, but not as sickly sweet, I was actually shocked when I fist had it and I've gotten a few of my friends into it lmao. The Unreal crispy peanut butter cups are also delicious. Love them. And an accidentally vegan favorite is Reese's shell ice cream topping! AMAZING on oatly vanilla ice cream ;) Ps. Yes! Can we talk about how Hampton Creek just disappeared and left us with nothing but Just Egg? I miss Just Mayo, ranch, and Chipotle ranch :(
You still need to be careful eating raw cookie dough, even if it doesn't have eggs in it, unless the flour has been heat treated. A higher percentage of people get sick from contaminants in flour than from raw egg. Unless it specifically says you can eat it raw it's not safe to eat raw, as per the CDC guidelines
For the JUST eggs, I sautee onions, peppers and crumbled up Field Roast sausage. Then I pour the JUST egg into muffin tins, add some Ciao cheese and the sauteed mixture and bake to make egg cups. It is SO good.
Thanks for showing Culina in the pot! I remember seeing it briefly at Sprouts but didn’t see it again when I had the money to buy it. Sooo glad to know the company didn’t burn out but just switched to glass! And I agree with you; Culina is tied for top 2 yogurts in my book
Can you please make this a yearly video! I recently started transitioning into a more plant based diet and your channel has been a huge help thank you!
Hi! Also love just eggs for scrambles! Thankfully I can buy it cheaper in Brooklyn. Sarah, please try macadamia butter from MILKADAMIA brand. I went nuts for it. Very delicious. And the Oatly strawberry or coffee ice creams.... yummy
Morningstar's corn dog has to be my all-time fave find of 2019. It is soooo bang on and addictive. The price in my neck of the woods is just under 4 bucks, but you only get 4 dogs 😒. Hey, but when you're jonesin' for it, the price can be easily justified.
Just mayo is available on Walmart.com. I got the Just ranch about a week ago (they have sold out as of 2/4/2020). The email they sent said both are back in production so the ranch should be in stock again soon.
@@jackiehedges320 yeah as soon as I got the email I bought 3 😅. I tried other ranches from the store and I hated them or they were okay, but not great. They were on Walmart.com, so when they get more made my guess is that they will be there.
@@jackiehedges320 I did and it was okay in my opinion, but it was not as good. There is a local restaurant that makes it even better than Just, but it's expensive and across town from me. I hope they get production sorted out so we can get it when we need it.
Thank you very much for these posts! There may be a more recent video, but I like "Daring" as a plant-based option for "grilled" chicken. I would get the "original" plant chicken pieces and add my own flavor, but there are also seasoned options.
Cami Lawrence, I saw those items last week and today, almost purchased but I had so many other vegan things that I thought I better wait. Very curious about them though. I’ll try soon. I did buy the Silk Mocha drink today so hopefully that’s good, and also bought their yogurt with granola.
I've been making my own vegan yogurt lately: just start with some storebought yogurt, bring whatever plant milk you're going to use to 90C/190F, let it cool to
I have so many vegan products that I’m in love with...but impossible and beyond meat sausages are the ones I purchase the most. And when it comes to Vegan cheese I love the chao brand, so good with sandwiches and grilled cheese 🤤 Oh and the gardein meat you shared that makes the best lumpia filling-SOOO GOOD!!! Love your video!! 😊
Impossible and beyond test on rats. So it is plant based but not vegan. The main concept of veganism is the animal rights. If you're not purchasing only cruelty free you're plant based not vegan
I’ve been loving simple truth lately too. The Alfredo is really good. Kinda plain in a good way like there isn’t a crazy strong taste but you can add a little salt pepper and creole seasoning with broccoli it’s so good. And the bolognese is good too
Sarah you HAVE to try the meat substitute brand 'This'. They have chicken pieces that are so chicken-like, I literally freaked out. So crazy. Would love to watch you try it because I was honestly astounded, the texture was uncanny. X
Thanks for making the video. I have found that many people prefer impossible to beyond, but for some reason, I like beyond way more. Hopefully, they both stay on the market and become more available everywhere.
Kite Hill came out with a french onion dip recently - it is spot on! Salty though. I like to eat it on unsalted chips and it evens it out nicely. Like you said, it's pricey. On a couple of occasions, I've been able to scoop it up for $2 when they are a week or less from expiration. But since it's fairly small and super good, I never have to worry about reaching the expiration date.
Just found an 8 pack of Beyond Burger at Costco for 14.99! And I add a few drops of ACV to any vegan cream cheese I buy for a little more tangy flavor. Just mix it in really well.
I never understood why people hated Earth Balance butter so much but as you described it, I remembered that I ALWAYS liked margarine more than real butter before I was vegan (over a decade ago). And it works so well for my cookies (the country crock didn't stay cold enough long enough to make fluffy thick cookies) . Edit: I think the Just company got rid of the Mayo as it was totally wiped out months ago but I found a vegan version of Best Foods/Hellman's and I like it A LOT more than the just Mayo-- coming from a woman obsessed with sauces and dips. I've only found it in a couple Kroger stores though.
Hey Sarah, here in Australia we get a non-dairy yoghurt called Nudie which tastes just like thick creamy Greek yoghurt. It's made with coconut cream. If you can get your hands on some full-fat coconut cream you can recreate a similar yoghurt easily. I used to make my own yoghurt that tasted pretty similar using full-fat coconut cream, brown sugar and culture (starter or some non-dairy yoghurt).
You are absolutely correct about Diaya. I used to avoid it at all costs, thought it ruined anything it touched because of that distinct funky flavor. The new formula is actually good and the easiest to find so I now buy it often. Kite Hill cream cheese is the best, but man it’s over priced. I couldn’t believe how bad Miyoko cream cheese is (tastes like plastic) because I love their butter. Also, making Just Egg breakfast burritos on the weekends these days. It’s expensive when compared to groceries, but still cheaper than going to a restaurant. Love videos like this. I’ll be following your IG account.
I haven’t ever seen that Culina yogurt, but there’s a new (I think) non-dairy one by Oui, in little glass jars that is SO good. Thick, coconut based, fruit on the bottom. It’s like a little dessert. I have yet to find a cream cheese that I like. Kite Hill scallion is pretty good, but I really want a good plain one.
amyelr yes! Love those too. I just noticed the Culina for the first time at Whole Foods last week. I tried the blueberry lavender and it was very nice and thick like she said. But for the price I think the Ouí are quite nice 👍🏼
I agree, Daiya's new formula is bomb. I hated their original shreds but their Cutting Board Collection is my absolute favourite vegan cheese on the market rn
You can use a single coconut yogurt to act as a starter for a big batch of homemade yogurt. :) you have an instant pot right? It should be just like making with-dairy yogurt.
Vered Pinhas I haven’t tried myself but with what I’ve read on dairy alternative yogurts, soy just doesn’t have the fat to stabilize the yogurt since fat firms up in the fridge. Try maybe any of these: almond/cashew/coconut base next time!
The Beyond Hot Italian sausage are sooo good! I buy them every week. Low carb for thise doing Keto. I usually put them in a fry pan. Turn every few minutes. You can also take the sauage out of the casing to crumble up.
I really like these sit down and talk videos from you! I tried to french onion dip from that simple truth brand and I really like it so I'll have to try the sour cream soon. I actually haven't tried the impossible burger yet, but the beyond burger isn't my favorite because of that weird pea protein aftertaste that I've found present is so many mock meats. Hopefully I can get around to trying an impossible burger soon, or making my own from their ground meat substitute.
FYH egg is great for breading and frying! I make italian style “chickn” cutlets and riceballs and it has a great texture for breadcrumbs to stick to! I do water it down more than it calls for.
Have you tried the Modern Table vegan mac? The white cheddar is bomb and the classic cheddar is good too. It's gluten free and they sell it at King Soopers and Whole Foods
Saw Just Egg at Aldi like 2 weeks ago- I think it was $6.99 (likely a special buy) Also recently had Good Foods Queso dip...very good...its Cauliflower based (Target & Costco)
Veganaise offers 5 different versions: most include canola oil. The purple lid version uses grapeseed oil instead. Canola oil is one so-called "health product" that I try and avoid.
I eat mostly whole food plant based so the oil in vegenaise is helpful for calories to maintain my weight and fat to assist in absorbing my fat soluble vitamins. Moderation is key but I find the oil helpful for me.
Oh my gosh, I was just getting ready to mention the Simple Truth cookie dough, and then you started talking about it. I like it with oat milk as well. Very tasty
Once I bought the Annie's Vegan Mac butternut squash flavor by accident-- thought it was better than the cheddar flavor! This was a solid review, definitely gonna try some of the stuff you talked about in the future. Also, Simple truth is my savior
SO helpful, thank you! I'm super picky and often downright scared of trying new things, so videos like this really, really help me out. Especially as my husband was raised eating lots of meat, so he kind of needs the meat substitutes. I have found unsweetened Ripple pea kind milk really good for cocoa, rice pudding, and various other culinary applications. I don't like it just plain, though.
For me, one of the biggest struggles in switching to plant-based was cheese beyond the standard cheddar/mozzarella/parmesan substitutes. I *love* soft cheeses as well as things like blue cheese. The vegan options I've seen, mostly when browsing the Mylk Guys site, are all artisanal and look potentially incredible, but also expensive and totally unavailable to me anywhere but online since I live in a city where plant-based options are, uh, still very much in the emerging stage. I'd love a gourmet/artisanal vegan cheese review video! The only non-Daiya, non-Tofutti cheeses I really see people talk about are Miyoko's, Violife, and Chao, nothing small batch or made by small businesses.
As far as a personal recommend to add to your need to try list, the Coolhaus Horchata ice cream sandwiches are amazeballs...I get one every single time I go to Whole Foods 💚
Have you ever tried the Tofurkey lightly seasoned chicken! it is so so good just by itself and specifically cold! if you ever wanna whip up a super quick chicken salad its perfect, or to just use as a main or on top of a salad as a grilled chicken, its so good
ALSO highly recommend the trader joes brand cream cheese!! its cheap and tastes super legit. also in terms of cheese slices, if you want the meltiest most amazing cheese - field roast chao slices are the way to go
The Kroger affiliates have a free magazine called live naturally. There is a coupon for a free light life product. No dollar limit. Sprouts has a lot of choice. The coupon is good anywhere. There is also a coupon for a lava vegan yogurt
I love Violife too, I love their cream cheese even more than Kite Hill. How do you store the parmesan? I love it but it was hard to get the parmesan smell out of my Stasher bags.
Great video and review of your favourite products. My favourite products are Alpro plant based milk (owned by the same company as Silk), Oatly milk and cream, Quorn Fishless Fingers, the Wicked range & Plant Chef from Tesco and the veggie kitchen in Farmfoods and I also like frozen vegetables from Tesco, Farmfoods and Aldi.
Video hasn't started...still waiting for the ad to end...and I already know this is *legit* because there's a pic of Culina yogurt in the thumbnail...omg that's the greatest yogurt
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing this, I'm visiting the States in a few months and I can't wait to try all these amazing vegan foods! I'd love to hear any more suggestions that you have 😊
thank you for this! i’ve been on the search for new oat milk cause i can’t keep buying oatly no matter how much i love it 😭 its just waayy too pricey and i finish it in days LOL def gonna get the hagen daaz bars! they were my fave as a kid and now theres a vegan option im going all in
oh man i'm so jealous that there are all these vegan cheese options in the states, it's practically non-existent here in ukraine :( kind of wanting to try to make homemade camembert for the hell of it, even though it takes weeeeks
Hey! I’m from Kiev and I’m vegan too! I do live in the states now though and it’s crazy how many vegan substitutes there are in grocery stores. I feel like in Ukraine you either have to go to a pricey specialty store (Vegetus, Good Wine) or just head to a vegan restaurant. I do think some of those cafes (like Vegano Hooligano) are selling imported products (pretty sure I saw Violife), but in terms of accessibility, they’re still not something most people can make a staple.
@@vladaalexa123 i'm not vegan but i do like vegan food and i like to try vegan substitutes since it's fascinating to me. there are way more on the market now, and we recently got beyond burgers and sausages, but most of the locally produced processed stuff is super gross. so whole foods it is :D they're better for you anyway
Beyond Meat is the best, but Gardein is just so great also and available!!! From burgers to fish to make fish tacos and everything else, my happy days are with Gardein haha!!!

Good old fashioned the original thats been around almost 30 years
Tofutti!

I have found unsweetened Ripple pea kind milk really good for cocoa, rice pudding, and various other culinary applications. I don't like it just plain, though.
The red hair really suits you! Also can't believe I haven't tried the violife cheese yet!!
Omg I LOVE the red hair! great video!
Melt makes sticks of butter. It's my favorite for baking.
Minimalist baker has a great coconut yogurt recipe - it's so easy and thick. It's the only vegan yogurt I like.
Sarah you are a amazing!!! Thank you for this, definitely a couple of products I haven’t heard of or seen. 👏🏻👏🏻🙌🙌
If you have an Aldis near by you should check out their vegan options. It’s not much but they were selling Just Egg for $6.99 a few weeks ago!
As far as a personal recommend to add to your need to try list, the Coolhaus Horchata ice cream sandwiches are amazeballs...I get one every single time I go to Whole Foods 💚
Have you ever tried the Tofurkey lightly seasoned chicken! it is so so good just by itself and specifically cold! if you ever wanna whip up a super quick chicken salad its perfect, or to just use as a main or on top of a salad as a grilled chicken, its so good
ALSO highly recommend the trader joes brand cream cheese!! its cheap and tastes super legit. also in terms of cheese slices, if you want the meltiest most amazing cheese - field roast chao slices are the way to go
I always hated the Daiya cream cheese but I recently gave it a try and they must have reformulated it cause it’s amazing 😍
Violife cream cheese is a game changer 🥰
Yesss!! Was going to ask to do a video on this!
Mar S I would try a glass container with the sealed lid!
Have you tried Field Roast products? I love the Italian and Apple-Maple sausages.
The Lightlife Gimme Lean sausage ground is the best!!
Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing this, I'm visiting the States in a few months and I can't wait to try all these amazing vegan foods! I'd love to hear any more suggestions that you have 😊
I love those NuGo bars also! Try the Mocha flavor taste like coffee to me my favorite flavor!
thank you for this! i’ve been on the search for new oat milk cause i can’t keep buying oatly no matter how much i love it 😭 its just waayy too pricey and i finish it in days LOL def gonna get the hagen daaz bars! they were my fave as a kid and now theres a vegan option im going all in
Planet Oat to me is delicious and cheaper than Oatly. It's my go-to! Especially if you like the low-fat Oatly.
I really like Light Life that are sold like Beyond Meat...I think they taste better more like Impossible
oh man i'm so jealous that there are all these vegan cheese options in the states, it's practically non-existent here in ukraine :( kind of wanting to try to make homemade camembert for the hell of it, even though it takes weeeeks
You should try the Go Veggie cream cheese! It tastes verrrry close to real cream cheese :)
Would love to see the egg drop soup!!💛
We've been able to get the Impossible ground beef from grocery stores in upstate New York for a while now 😎 hopefully you guys get it by you soon!
Beyond Meat is the best, but Gardein is just so great also and available!!! From burgers to fish to make fish tacos and everything else, my happy days are with Gardein haha!!!
Oooh do a recipe video for soy jerky!
I love your hair Sarah!
